Hi BB. Which rainbow are you talking about and why is it the best bar according to you? Have been popping my head into rainbow now and then but it never occurred to me to sit down and grab a San Mig light.

Five Star is now owned by the same people that operate Crazy House, I'm told. The old Five Star was something different in Cowboy, a cool quirky bar with live music. Never had many people, so I understand new owners want to try a different set-up. But another chrome bar with average ladies and "car alarm music" is really not what Cowboy needs right now. The street lacks diversity; it should have more themed bars IMO. Owners need to make a profit but why is there such a lack of inventions and new ideas? Sad really. I guess some of it is related to the "Iran" guy how run his bars for money laundry only. For customers to the area it is just a waste of space since it does not appeal to the hardcore mongers nor to the curious tourists. So who is it for. Since there are no people inside, just a bunch of girls on the outside? The old Climax is surely missed; the discos like Insanity, Levels etc. Just do not do it for me (maybe to old. ? The Hillary bars are Ok, but a tad too small. Any news on the street that Climax will reopen on another location? It was a perfect pick-up place with tons of freelancers.

Thanks for the intel on Five Star. I was in BKK with my Thai GF a few months back and stuck my head in. I was somewhat horrified, but like everything else, use it or lose it. Ten years back it was busy, and relaxed, the drinks prices were 60-80 Baht so you could stay in there for a few hours for 1 k Baht with a bg from another bar and buy the staff a few drinks. Post coup and other Thai issues customers dropped off and following Asian business logic prices went up a lot. A shame, and a great loss to decent music in BKK. I didn't really Climax had closed, last time I walk passed the Ambassador it appeared to be open, but I never went in. That was a few months back though. The Hillary bars (at least 3, or whichever one is on Soi 12) have funny rules for the lady drinks, which most customers might not notice, but they have 4 different drinks they have to have in order. After that they can have what they want. I have a friend there from a long time ago when she worked on Soi 33.

I don't go to all the bars, tending to stick to a few, but if you are on older bloke (I am) try Angelwitch, Rawhide and Long Gun. Buy a beer, watch the show and see who comes to talk. Go midweek when it is quieter and be patient. If you are very old and you want young ladies LT this may not work as well. But I am sure you know all that, sorry.

Years back Eden Club used to offer two girls back to your hotel for all night until 8 am the next day. Looking on their website now I cannot see this offer- does anyone know if it is still possible? Also where else can I find a threesome in BKK, l don't want to just pick two random girls with no chemistry, would prefer seek out providers who specialise in it and are bi-sexual.

Find which ever bar you like and ask the mamasan. Just remember Thai Lady's can be very "shy" not with you on your own (the dressing under a towel thing they always do even on their own) but with another girl if you take two you might find one insists on being in the bathroom while the other performs. So explain to the Mamasan what you want and she will hopefully provide. Might have to buy her a drink though 555.

I guess number 4 is closer to her real looks. That is not a very nice picture.

It's rare that I eat in the Sukhumvit playground. The Chinese joint I mentioned used to be packed with girls but hey now I'm showing my age. It's a good meal for that area as opposed to food courts and overpriced tourist crap.

For Duck I go to a place on Charoen krung.

Near Robinson's and Saphan Taksin. About 100 M from Robinsons. Can't remember the name right now. But it's killer.

That is perhaps the most famous duck place in the city and it is killer.

Its called Yong Lee (rising tone). Very cheap but nothing special. I gave it away years ago, maybe because something started to annoy me about the Chinese attitude (that reminded me of Hong Kong). Does not have an overly friendly vibe. LOL Chinese culture and manners are very different to Thai. Anyway cheap and a bit nasty sums it up. A friend first took me to Yong Lee in 1991. Back then, even girls from the Thermae Soapy or Cafe would sometimes eat there (due to price and speed). It never changed much. Some staff members were very old (like 70+), so surely some must have croaked it by now.

I've eaten there 4-5 times because others in my group wanted to eat there but I gave it up, too. The service is terrible. Never got my order right or brought the food to a group of 2-4 of us without there being a gap of 15-20 minutes between servings. The food isn't even as good or as cheap as the nearby Terminal 21 food hall. Felt like I needed to dip my hands in sanitizer after handling the menus, which smell like body waste. I've heard the place is about 100 years old. Wouldn't be surprised. I think that has been the main appeal for the past couple of decades, that it was so old and "historic". I haven't seen the very old lady who used to just sit in a chair against the back wall for a while. Maybe gone. Must have been almost 100 years old herself.

Not a fan of either place to tell you the truth. If I want good duck I get our of the Lower Sukhumvit area, which to tell you the truth is only good for Middle Eastern food. There is some good Northern Chinese at Dalian which is behind Villa on Soi 33. For duck Chinatown is the best although there is a place in Khlongtan that is pretty good as well. If you want duck noodles there is a shop in Khlongtoey near PAT stadium that is wonderful. Also close there is one of the best beef noodle shops in the city. Although I live in between Nana and Asoke, I never eat Thai or Chinese food in the area.

One has to eat something although I don't live there and probably more often eat more expensive western food also. LOL.

I thought that would should be called Soi 33/1 most likely, since its a small Soi not directly connected to Soi 33 proper. Still maybe they still call it Soi 33 to prevent finding it. LOL Villa Markt seems to be in Sukhumvit road when I go there, and merely close to Soi 33, however Thai addressing is crazy.

I think the girl may have had to pay the bill. LOL Lucky it was a small bill. Later I got back my wallet and cards (minus the cash). I don't believe I was pick pocketed. Just failed to put wallet back into tight pants properly while juggling a few things such a phone etc., it probably was in the taxi, still who knows? Never lost a wallet again. I imagine someone with no Thai Bank account could be in a right pickle if lost a wallet and all cards. I usually don't carry absolutely all cards with me and definitely not passport. Would not be smart.

I would much rather go to the BBQed duck place on other side of Sukhumvit under BTS Asoke. Its much less crowded and better quality. A very good place to get take away BBQ duck too. Its called Thong Kee. In old days when GF sent me to get BBQed duck, I sometimes had a quick diversion to a BJ joint not so far away.

You would also be far better off in Love Scene 24 hours restaurant in Soi 23 with a good menu selection. Just my opinion if you want something a little better, but still not pricey.
