Cool, thanks. True, that encounter did get me thinking about how unpleasant it would be to sleep next to someone who'd feel trapped in my hotel room for the night. I disagree that the African FLs aren't good-looking though—obviously some are hotter than others, but I wouldn't paint them with so broad a brush. What did kill the buzz a bit, though, besides the surly attitude of the one I approached, was that her English wasn't as good as I was expecting (or was led to believe by some blog posts floating around). Oh well, the prospect of banging one of those girls was good fantasy fodder for 8 or 9 months, ha.

There is actually a bit of truth to the ornery disposition of the owner. Its part of the charm of the place and you can easily get kicked out of there for what can seemingly be nothing at all. The place most commonly attracts some rough people. It is, after all, a late, late night establishment and its common to witness some belligerent a-holes doing something disrespectful to a patron or a bar hand. I think years and years of dealing with this has made the owner a bit testy.

Will be in Bangkok for the first time in a few weeks. I've watched many videos and hidden camera videos online and I'm interested in checking out thermae. I know they're really into Asian guys at that place but westerners are welcome too. Do any of you guys know if black American men are received well at thermae or should I just scratch that place off the list?

I have strolled through Thermae with an African American friend a couple of times in the past year and many, many of the attractive ladies meet his gaze with inviting smiles. He even got several audible "ohh"s of approval from several girls as we passed by. In neither case did either of us stay long enough to focus on specific girls to choose because those particular times we just passed through around 9:30 pm out of curiosity on our way to somewhere else. But I feel confident that he could have chosen any one of 2-3 dozen girls to walk out with him those nights.

He is clean cut, ex-military, was dressed neat and dapper in casual slacks, hard soled shoes, tucked in Polo type shirt. Mid-60's and looks it. Still, proportionate weight to his height. He smiled sincerely as we strolled through. We both did.

By the way, Tripadvisor long ago ceased to be a reliable source of information. It is riddled with self promotion reviews and toxic reviews for commercial reasons. I am a big traveller and I don't even have Tripadvisor bookmarked anymore, it's too conflicted.

I think that's a bit too sweeping in generalizations Styk to disregard Trip Advisor altogether although I know what you are saying.

I am also a "big traveller" (for mostly work), and I always check out a range of reviews in TA on any one place I intend to visit and I can usually sort out the genuine reviews from the toxic or self-promoting ones.

IMHO, if there are a preponderance of negative reviews then that is a red flag, but a good mix of positive and some negative is also a good guide. I have a group of friends and we regularly post bonafide reviews of all places that we visit.

I'm on my 3rd visit to Bangkok at the moment and 2nd one in which I'm "indulging. " I prefer black girls (with very dark skin) and big asses, so while I don't mind hanging out at Crazy House for a bit to watch (when there are girls who actually do more than stand there), I mostly prefer hunting elsewhere.

I agree Trip Advisor reviews need to be taken with a grain of salt. But those are the worst reviews of a bar or club I have ever read. None of us have any business going to that place. Glad you haven't had any problems Stykler. But be careful in that crazy place.

You can always walk thru and see the reaction. If your clean and good looking I would imagine that you will get some smiles. I have seen brothers in Thermae and although I don't follow their success, I'm sure they scored. Money talks Bullshit walks is the old saying. Good luck.

Agree. Money talks, bullshit walks. Unfortunately for blacks and Indians, you have to get over their prejudice. In every corner of this world there are always women who are turned on by men of different races. You will know right away if you have one of those. But for the most part, you are going to have to be patient, but some drinks and have the girl get to know you a bit better. Bottom line, you will have to spend a bit more time and money. The girls also tend to quote a higher price for Indians and blacks.
