Bell Travel Service is great if you're going to and from the Bangkok airport to Pattaya, but it was a miserable for me when I went from Pattaya to my Bangkok hotel. The Bell Travel van had to make numerous stops at Pattaya hotels to pick up passengers. It then went to its local Pattaya terminal to pick up more passengers. After loading as many passengers as possible, the Bell Travel van headed to the Bangkok airport to drop off passengers. From the airport, the Bell Travel van made numerous stops at different hotels throughout Bangkok to drop off passengers. My hotel on Soi 4 was the last stop. With Bangkok's notorious traffic jam, I spent more than 8 hours on the Bell Travel van. My bladder was on the verge of busting. I was not happy that I wasted an entire day riding in a van.

If I made such a bad mistake, I would have just got off at the first Bangkok Hotel stop, or Airport, and caught a taxi from there. 8 hours is clearly ridiculous waste of time and discomfort. Good warning to others.

I have made the mistake of retuning from Koh Tao by boat to Chumporn (Chumpon) and then by bus from there. That bus trip was pretty horrific. Too far. Would not do that again. Was much cheaper than flight from Koh Samui, but a nightmare trip. Looks like Nok Air does fly to and from Chumpon, but only once per day, which may not be the most suitable time.

I suggest to anyone travelling in Thailand, you don't really want to be in a bus for very long hours, like Thai people do. Use cheap flight to far destinations, and even try to book a train when plane is not an option. Not applicable for Pattaya but that is really not so far compared to other places. I have used a taxi to Rayong for Koh Samet, and a minivan to Traat and Koh Chang with at least 5 people going. That was quite long enough but well under 8 hours.

I normally need more than 1 hour for my ST. At least 90 minutes for me. Some ST Hotels will charge double the normal price for anything over 1 hour and up to 2 hours. No good!

Asoke Place is better. They have a special Friday and Saturday night price for 2 hours of something like 500 Baht instead of 350. However for at least Monday through Thursday (perhaps also Sunday), they are not busy and so they allow up to 2 hours for 350 Baht. As I need more than an hour typically, I will try to do it nights other than Friday and Saturday. I have received the 1 hour phone call previously on a busy night, to say my time is up. I will book longer in future. Last night was Thursday night and they were not busy.

So this maybe an indicator that there is far more barfining of girls on a Friday or Saturday. Maybe not. There is clearly far more BFing of ladyboys by Koreans and Japanese on a Friday or Saturday, since see so many of those at Asoke Place ST Hotel on a busy night. I assume the Asian guys are too shy to take the LBs home.

Any place that won't give a decent price for 90 minutes, then they lose my business. There is a choice of ST Hotels. My average price for 2 hours at Asoke Place is going to be pretty good. A private taxi is the quickest, most convenient and most expensive mode of transportation to and from Pattaya and Bangkok. For newbies who aren't adventurous or experienced travelers, this might be best.

In Bangkok, the Ekkamai bus station is perfectly located to take the BTS, but this only works if your Bangkok hotel is located near a BTS station and you don't have lots of luggage. For me, this is the cheapest, quickest, and safest way between Pattaya and Bangkok.
