I still haven't tried the truck in Nana parking lot yet either. I kept forgetting it was there. The other night I saw they now have a lighted sign on the corner of the building where the pharmacy is, right around the corner from the truck and it can be seen up and down Soi 4. So their business ought to pick up.

LOL. Wouldn't exactly be an appetizing selling point now that I think of it: "Come Try Our Mexican Food! Just Spitting Distance From Soi Nana's Best Stocked Pharmacy!"

I think the reason I haven't tried their food is because they don't sell guacamole. I'm one of those guys who likes to add it to tacos, burritos, quesadillas, almost everything. A couple of times I have asked for it, the lady says no, I register my disappointment, suggest she add it to the menu and move on without buying anything. Apparently my interest in guacamole hasn't inspired her to add it.

Speaking of which, that is one of the things I like about the Sunrise Tacos chain you mentioned. They have very good guacamole and understand the value of it to many with a desire for Mexican food in that they feature a small bowl of it as a 95 baht "Add Guacamole" item on their menu. I prefer Sunrise Tacos' food to La Monita's, which many others prefer. However, the 60 baht rice pudding dessert at La Monita's restaurant location in Mahattun Plaza on the even side of the Ploen Chit bts station is an awesome good dessert for a pittance.

FYI If you want a high quality taco feast: Sunrise Taco at T21 has all-you-can-eat soft tacos Tuesday and Friday 2 pm to 7 pm for 350 baht. Delicious fresh ingredients. Food coma nirvana!

It's one poster only who complains about stuff like that because he likes scoring cheap points.

He also posts about Songkran and other useless stuff like that.

My post is highly relevant to Bangkok.

If the thread was "Bangkok Bars" it would be another thing.

No worries anyway. It's like water off a duck's back to me.

    Respiratory health

What are the best no smoking go go bars in Bangkok at the moment? It was bliss straight after they introduced the smoking ban but then bars slowly started to ignore it. Are there any no smoking bars left?

Has anyone tried the taco stand in the car park of the Nana Hotel? I do love tacos but I'm afraid of what would be served here. One time late at night on Soi 8 I went into the restaurant closest to Sukhumvit and ordered chicken fried rice. As that humorous fortune cookie states "That was not chicken".

    Not so grotty

The very best Gai Yang (BBQed chicken) I ever had was a stand on NE corner of Sukhumvit 19 and cross street Suk 21 Soi 1. Would be very sad if that was gone. I used to be prepared to travel more than 1 km to get their chicken, even when not staying at Grand Mercure Hotel. Could get Som Tam salad and sticky rice too, but was not so interested in that.

Perhaps "Grotty" is best applied to stands selling fried bugs? or the Soi 4 hamburger stand whose meat patties don't look exactly like meat. Poor quality equals almost no customers any more, since the stand was taken over by stupid people.

It is definitely a trend. For example, on Soi 19 there were many street food vendors which have been swept away since the end of 2016. This has been the visible trend along Sukhimvit for all forms of street vendors, not just food carts. It is all part of the continuing gentrification which is done under the guise of clearing the walkways which are public from private uses. Even though there has been a big clearance, there are still plenty of open-air places to buy grotty Thai food, squeezed juice, ED drugs, DVDs, etc.

I personally LOVE the clearance of Sukhimvit as I can now walk up to Soi 4 at pace now that 70% of the walkway is not infested with junk stalls. Enjoy Bangkok, AsianRain.

Many Thais do not prepare their own food that often. It is cheaper to eat from street vendors. I never got sick from fresh street vendor food (don't buy from a back Soi cart lacking customers though). Did get sick in Thailand from restaurants.

The entire population of Thailand is living largely off street food, including myself when too lazy to cook on induction cooker, which has been the case last few days. Street Food cannot be wiped out totally. I usually buy several meals at a time from street vendors, put in fridge, and they get reheated in microwave. I have an induction cooker as well for doing very fast fry or stir fry of fresh produce. Advantage of making food yourself, is you have control to keep out junk chemical ingredients. At a street vendor, you have to know what prepared stuff has no sugar, or remind the maker, not to put in MSG and sugar, and keep salt, garlic, and chilies down and any other things I don't like. More difficult for most if the vendor has no English.

Certain streets are being cleaned out. I am not so familiar with those streets being closed from street vendors, so don't understand the problems.

Would not worry me if street vendors were cleaned out of lower Sukhumvit and forced into the small Sois so I could walk through there quickly without having to walk on the road. I suppose it would lose a lot of its dubious character there. I prefer street food stalls over junk merchandise sellers. Also prefer cart bars after midnight. LOL.

Love to get a Phat Thai or Hoi Thort (fried Mussels in egg batter with bean shoots) at food carts, or Kai Yang (grilled chicken), Khao Niaow Mamuang (Mango and sticky rice) at food carts. These surely cannot possibly be stamped out. Would cause a people's revolution against the government. Noodle carts are the staple diet of Thais whether soup noodles, Yen Ta Foh, Khao Soy, Guay Jap, Lart Naa, BaMee, or Phat Thai. Thais cannot survive without these cheap meal alternatives. The names of these common noodle dishes cannot be translated into English with any useful recognition or meaning, so I did not attempt it. You just have to know what the street vendor dishes are like by the Thai name (in some cases it is a borrowed Chinese name).

Today, total cost of my meals was between 100 and 150 Baht, including microwaved breakfast Oats, home filtered coffees, and street vendor chicken plus another street vendor veg soup with pork. I am trying to keep the weight down, so don't eat too much. Without street vendors, I would have to go get the equivalent at Tesco Lotus supermarket, or food court. More inconvenient. Have to eat every day so I prefer to keep the food cost down most days, and use money for my favourite hobby. LOL

Can't get an orgasm from expensive food. LOL Is a great meal more pleasurable than a great fuck? never. O.K. Better than a bad fuck.

Really? I am not party animal. I don't really know the details of the S2O festival and what types of music to expect.

I hardly ever go to discos. I hate DJs in general and their whole craft of blending songs and messing with the music. Getting 20 seconds of one thing then changing to another. Some discos hardly even have actual songs. I am too old and not liking most modern stuff. Banging and screeching and short on actual music. I come from the Rock era. My favourite music is probably "New Age" and that type is never performed. I also like fast Latin music. I quite liked to go see the Philippine band at CheckInn99, doing a broad range of popular songs, from rock era or before to present.

I would go to a music performance, if with a girl who wanted to go, and they had some really top Thai artists on. I have been to some really crap bands performing in various venues including RCA. Did not enjoy the band at Bangkok Beat. At Corner bar also very so-so, but better. At Stumble Inn last night band was doing a lot of Beatles stuff, a bit too old for me. Most places have sound quality a bit off.

I did enjoy one of my visits to Thai entertainment venue Saeng Jan. It depends greatly on the quality of the performers. I do enjoy dancing with bargirls late at night when DJ switches to some Thai "Mor Ram" type of stuff or comedy Thai songs, and girls inebriated. Of course you have to speak Thai to understand any of the lyrics for funny Thai smart-ass songs. I hate all the slow sad Thai songs.

Some of the former cart-bars used to put on a good mix of music usually chosen by the girls or customers.

I'm wondering if the constant increase in prices has had an effect on most guys not willing to pay 4 or 5 thousand baht to get layed. A year ago I noticed guys pulling the ladies out of CH at a steady pace, but in Jan when I was there it seems very slow. Your opinion will be appreciated as usual.

    RL.
Yes I did see a few ladies getting barfined at CH and Twisters in particular. Less so at the other 3 bars, where the girl quality to my eye was lower and the number of customers lower.

Yes I agree that to a certain extent bargirls are pricing themselves out of the market. When a fairly ordinary bargirl wants 3000 baht, then the guy has to pay a barfine and some drinks maybe, the guy could argue, he may as well go get a costly stunner at The Lord Soapy or take an Escort.

The first girl I ever barfined at Twisters priced herself at 2 K Baht, and was a very good experience, tits fairly small, but I liked her look, but there is always pressure from peer girls for all girls to price themselves higher. Most girls in CH ask for 3 K, but don't always get it. Tougher customers will pay lower, but probably most girls are not accepting 2 K. 2. 5 K is a common price too. I don't know everything about lowest prices, because I am not bargaining with the uglier types of girls. I tend to be going for the cream, to my spec. The difference between me and other punters is quite marked though.

I will take a slim cute girl, possibly small natural tits no sage, cute little upturned nose preferred. Natty takes pretty much the same type of girl, other guys go for a much more raunchy type of girl, possibly with implants, not too worried about pretty face, etc. Some guys like girls with a lot more meat on them. I don't see Indian guys taking skinny girls much. Most of my girls get mostly Farang customers, skin does not have to be so white, but not all. Naam at CH mostly went with Korean or Japanese guys, however she was one of borderline girls in terms of attitude. She did not like to fuck long duration. Ha ha. That maybe why she likes Asians. LOL.

The advantage for me at CH, has been being able to see the girl nude, or possibly covering up a little but still seeing her ass and pussy and able to check out the tits when she sits on your lap. Girl sitting on lap is a good time to assess the chemistry. If not convinced by her attitude, can simply decide not to BF her. This means I have not selected any really bad bargirls for many months. Got lucky, although, I admit I am mostly doing repeat girls. The few non repeat girls all worked out okay At least, one I probably would not repeat, as just not quite worth the money, level of GFE a bit weak. Others were all repeatable. This means despite paying more, I have less risk of a bad session.

It still hurts other day to pay a mid range price for Soapy girl, and get a girl so non relaxed on the bed squirming around, that never even got to fuck her or take a BBBJ. I just wasn't going to get hard with a girl so non co-operative. So money wasted. With bargirls I have not had any lately where did not get at least a satisfactory fuck, to a really nice one.

I have done rather few bargirl sessions for the year. Price is going to be a factor. I know where I can get good cheaper fucks. However I will take girls that I like a lot.

Have also done rather few MP girls. The MP girls were generally more disappointing. My choices are probably worse. Don't have the chance to spend time with the girl first, to see if we really click, to see if she likes to kiss, to see ask what type of dick she likes, see how great the full body is, etc. Best MP girl I had this year was probably Prae at Mango. Great body and great attitude with enthusiasm. Her pussy was right for me. We obviously clicked for the chemistry. However this is luck and not guaranteed. Others thought Prae was so-so. Probably not PSE.

I am taking much more sessions with my regular girls on private bookings contacted via LINE App. Usually use ST Hotels or cheap Hotels for whole night. So I get more time for my money with these girls.

Sometimes when you get used to a small number of girls that are really excellent fucks, it is hard to pay higher money and risk having a more ordinary fuck.

Some guys are on holiday in Thailand and doing multiple fucks per day and have a very high sex budget. They don't care if bargirls cost a bit. I used to take two girls at a time quite regularly from Suzi Wong a few years back, so cost was very high in many drinks, 2 barfines and pay each girl. I don't do that any more, but it was fun, just very expensive fun. Could have quite a few freelancer fucks for the same price.

So the behavior of sex punters varies greatly depending on whether they have a conserve money attitude, or not.

Business in all the bars seems more sedate this year. Could be partly due to decline in quality of the girls at certain bars and also due to bars being less packed out with customers. Have visited a few bars, formerly very busy, but then quite dead, e. G. Mardarin Upstairs, Long Gun, etc.

If bars keep declining and prices keep being too high, then the bars will gradually die out. So many changes of name or ownership in Nana and Cowboy bars indicate bars are struggling.

I don't see how bars can survive if they don't get good quality girls. Plenty of bar closures. Candyland did not do well. Taken over by rainbow 5. A very reduced shrunken version of Rainbow 4. Twisters took over RB4 (and it improved a lot for me). Hot Lips became Candyland 2, and now is Diamonds, but still not doing much better.

Billboard was greatly revived by getting some better girls. Jailbirdz renamed to Butterflies. Not sure if that helps?

The whole gogo bar scene is in decline is pretty much a normal view. Too many surgery girls, many bars lacking slim girls, too many Ladyboy bars coming in, too many Coyote bars coming in. Prices too high. Too many ordinary girls wanting 3 K for a short time, that won't be worth it. I don't know how often they get it. Meanwhile MP girls maybe be making just 1200 to 1300 per session, and freelancers 1 K to 1500, or in Thermae they get maybe 2 k to 2. 5 K and perhaps have a Farang surcharge. I don't know much about LT prices as I don't take new girls for LT and have not taken a bargirl for LT for quite a while.

I am pretty depressed about the whole bar scene and yet I am a guy who prefers bargirls. So obviously those that hate bar girls would paint a very bleak picture indeed. To get on well with bargirls, you need to have a very relaxed fun attitude I think, but at the same time I have a very aloof distant attitude with any girls that try to come to me unrequested. I also act with complete disinterest to staff trying to suggest girls for me.

I was very surprised in Suzie Wong, that staff that know me well were making so many efforts to suggest girls that might be my spec. It wasn't too pushy, but just boring. They should be just leaving me to look for myself. I did not see anything outstanding that I fancied.
