If you want to shop for inexpensive clothing, souvenirs, DVD's and what not, go to Chatuchak Market Sunday morning. For example, you will find the best selection and best prices for T-shirts, wallets, bronzes, and yes underwear here. Walk around. It is a huge place. Bargaining is expected.

I admit to buying a cheap imitation handbag or two, but really did not buy anything there for years. DVDs were best bought elsewhere since quality on Sukhumvit was very unreliable. Strictly for the tourists only, those stalls, but agreed were a nuisance causing me to walk on the road.

80% of the stalls along Sukhimvit have been closed. Permanently. There are some stalls which are up against the wall (I. E. Not on the sidewalk). I don't know what you want, but there are shops for viagra, fake footballer shirts, kids clothes, fake handbags, etc. Just not the selection. Some of the stalls moved to Soi 3, but again not as much selection. You can ask your hotel where is a good night market depending upon what you want. Enjoy Bangkok, AsianRain.
