Thursday night (10/27) update from the field:

Cowboy: Overall rather quiet. Lights off outside. Crazy House closed last night. Baccara running all 3 floors, but girls in short skirts and button up tops. Not much skin. (Asking rates: 600 BF, 3000ST.) Similar vibe in other clubs. General takeaway is that overall vibe, energy level low.

Nana: Outside lights on, but dimmed. More energy than Cowboy. Gogos are all in bikini inside. Halter / skirts outside. I priced it out recently before I bought my $900 plus United flight to Manila. The Atlantic flight with a European layover is $1600 through Zurich and $1800 through Amsterdam. That is why I am flying the 24 hour trans Pacific route this time.

WOW! I just paid $725 for a IAH / BKK flight on EVA Airlines via Taipei. 26 hours and very minor fees for cancellation or changes (unlike Korean Air).

I arrived in Bangkok last Monday for 4-day stay, then moving on to HCMC then Singapore. Here are my impressions:

Thermae is closing at midnight, but I was not too impressed with the lineup on Tuesday night. I was there with my wingman, a Vietnamese who can easily pass for Japanese. He was not any more successful. After midnight, most of the girls still available, which was the majority of the girls, tried to ply their trade outside Thermae on Sukhumvit. I saw many Japanese dudes striking out. The girls somehow did not appear eager to earn their daily paycheck.

I finally picked up a chick, who had no money on her and pleaded with me to let her spend the night in my hotel room, and I agreed to take her LT. Apparently, she was a student in Bangkok but lives 2 hours away. I had a good time with her. But I think I am done with Thermae. If you don't look Japanese / Korean, forget it. I did pick up some beauties from there on 2 different earlier trips but struck out the last 2 trips. The good looking girls showed no interest in me. Some of the beauties appeared annoyed that I dared ask them out, either quoting me a large Baht number for ST or telling me plainly they would not go. Others waived me out before I even opened my mouth.

I was more successful at Addict massage. I picked up a cute girl, from Isaan, who was a sweetie and excellent in bed. I also picked up a cutie from Twister gogo in Nana plaza, but it was costly. 1200 bahts for drinks: for my wingman and I, plus the girls and the mamasan. I have visited Colonze 2 maybe 3 times, and usually line up was too small and full of very ordinary looking girls. That was the catch. I moved on. I prefer venues with a more sizable line up so there is a chance to discover my type. Perhaps I needed to arrive much later like 19:30 or so.

There's more to it than that. Plenty of ordinary looking girls go for a lot more than 1700 baht. I won't go back to Colonze 2 because it's ruined by grumpy papasans but it did have some nice girls for the price when I used to go there. Mixed with the 1700 baht girls were 1900 baht who were actually very pretty if you like dark skin. They compare favourably to go go girls but for a more realistic price. I have no idea about their bodies though as I always chose the 2500 baht girls who like I said had really nice faces and bodies. The model lounge had some even nicer girls. I always used to arrive about 9 or 10 ish.

Vancouver is known as Hongcouver, so it should really be included as part of Asia, right?

I live in South Florida. If Vancouver or Seattle were not so far out of the way for me, I would consider a layover in one of those two cities. I could relax, smoke some herb, and fly the "shorten" direct flight into SE Asia somewhere. But from my location, it makes more sense to fly the other way and lay over in Amsterdam, which I have done many times, Frankfurt, or Zurich. Everybody knows about the FKK's in Germany and lately I have been reading about a couple of high end honky tonks in Zurich that sound real inviting and real expensive too. The European option is good for me because it breaks up a 24 hour trans Pacific flight into a 10 hour trans Atlantic flight and an 11 our non stop flight straight into BKK. One of my options is to set something up with some bar girls I know who will probably be up for it, if they don't get bar fined. If they get offered, I know they'll take that first. Bird in hand. I'm almost always alone but this time I'm with a buddy and this is his first time ever in Thailand, so I want to show him a good time too. Sitting in Dutch restaurant at the end of Soi cowboy as I type this. Still a little early yet so not much going on but places are open. No music at all to be heard on the whole street.

Woke up this morning with a need so I thought I'd find this massage place I visited a few years ago on my first trip. It's on Sukhumvit 1 alley. Easy walking distance from Nana. It is what it is, but there is a wide dichotomy in price and quality everywhere in Asia. For example:

1) $19 for ST at Classic up to $161 for ST at Malioboro in Jakarta.

2) $29 for ST with a SW on Soi 4 up to $165 for an "M" category girl at the Lord up to the $229 (the stratosphere) just to make the acquaintance of a G-Club gal in BKK.

Think of the high end as almost the same prices as Tokyo or Macau. That said, I think you can still find some nice BKK girls in the 2000bt to 3000bt range. On my next trip I plan to work the social media sites like Badoo and Thai Friendly and see what happens.
