Room after room of bar girls standing next to poles with numbers on, like something out of the holocaust. No energy, no excitement, nothing. And it was exactly the same scene in every single room, and this being on a Saturday night!

To sit and stare at some of these partially clad girls, you pay a drink which is typically 3-4 USD. Kind of lame when you can just do the same for free. Somewhere.

Here's the real kicker: To take a girl back for an hour, I was quoted at. *laughs*. *4000 baht*!

Please save your computer screens and laptops and ensure you don't spit out your drink too hard. Hahahahhhh.

So. Here's my advice for the Nana area.

So! My recommendation is this.

If you're looking for a getaway, just book it to Pattaya. Or perhaps one of the other areas in Bangkok? I haven't checked out the others yet. Wouldn't be surprised if prices are more reasonable, still need to research. The girls are better looking, more energetic, and more fun in general. There is a much higher variety as well. The prices are much more reasonable. And if you can negotiate down to a reasonable price, I smashed with a 8. 5/10 girl in a massage shop for all of 300 baht just 3 months ago.

Seems you have a problem with costs. I'll agree that Nana can be a little expensive for some folks, but for those who can afford it, it's a great time.

Nana today isn't at all what it used to be, even 5 years ago. There's been a ton of turnover there in the last 5-8 years both in gogos and girls and total environment and about 3/4 of the gogos big and small became pretty dull or went all in on the chinese / japanese clients instead of western ones. The asain crowd are fine with the girls just standing around in a bikini vs the western crowd that's expecting more of a strip club-type show and at least for the girls to be topless, some gogos do topless, but its the exception now, it used to be almost all of them, its weird and dumb they went away from this, and business definitely took a hit. Prices have also risen, but being SE Asia, prices simply make no sense to anyone, they just kinda make up a price and go with it. You are expected to negotiate take out prices though. Its not mean, its expected, and they hope they get the 1 client that doesn't negotiate and they throw out some high price and you're just like "ok".

Cowboy and Nana kinda rotate back and forth which one is better, usually if one is in a down phase the other is in a better spot.

That said, once you learn Nana a bit better and know what gogos to go into, what they offer (and don't), you can do totally fine there, but its much less easy for just a new random tourist showing up and popping into a random gogo to get that each gogo and such kinda does their own thing or gimmick now.


For the Pattaya comment. I think that place is total garbage. No reason to go. You can just do the MPs in bangkok.

Don't overthink it, if you want to bang one of the girls at thermae or a gogo, talk to them, set a price, and that's it. For gogos, if you like a specific girl you can ask the waitress / mamasan to have her come over to talk. At the gogo you may get asked to buy a lady drink. You're not required to, its like a tip for the girl if she's hanging out with you, but not required. You can always just get her a shot instead too. If you want to spend more than ST, probably best not to go to Thermae. Most I've seen want short time so they can go back to Thermae to get next customer. But if you do go you can discuss with them ahead of time what you want before taking them with you. And test their english if you want to hang out and chat and not use translator all night.
