It is where drug control is enforced that the drug trade flourishes best because then the potential profits (for the big guys behind the scenes) are highest. Why do you think there are next to no pimps operating in Thailand (the occasional lazy Thai BF not counting)? Because prostitution is not illegal and girls can ply their trade relatively free from harassment by all and sundry officials.

I am afraid Valium 5 MG or 10 MG mostly wrong used by addicted persons. It is relatively supper cheap than other drugs for addicted persons. And it is very easy to dump up to addicted persons with fake or origin Valiums. If fake Valiums don't work to the users the addicted person think it is his fault. He never think the drug is fake. So it is very easy to cheat the addicted person with fake Valiums.

In SVB the ticket from the machine shows the taxi bay number, the taxi reg number and the driver's name. He will be waiting for you. They obviously punch in their details when they enter the taxi bay.

I did not see any add-on charges on the ticket.

I have never needed to waste time traipsing up to "Departures" with baggage and then trying to catch a waiting cab who has dropped off departing passengers.

For me, the system at Arrivals works well; I have never had any hassles or drivers trying anything to scam me.

Most likely the are assigned a bay when entering the taxi lane and swiping their card in (they swipe it out too when leaving).

The 50 baht airport fee is enforced as an add on to the meter reading, it is not shown in the meter fare.

It is levied by the airport (lots of airports try to make ancillary revenues by milking passengers in many ways). It has been authorized 3-4 years ago by the Department of Civil Aviation (ruling airport areas). The weird thing is that the authority didn't make it compulsory to be paid (not cashed by them, so they don't care) but it is up to the taxi driver. Pretty sure drvers have to pay it to the airport handler AOT.

Taking a taxi deommdepeture level is officially prohibited and police patrols the lanes enforcing the law from time to time, but often not.

Can be good if and when lines are massive at arrivals (less than before). Still taxi drivers try to scam with exaggerated fixed fares. Just be assertive on using the meter plus highway fees. I never took taxis on normal arrivals level due bureacractic stuffing arpound causing a wait in a long line of customers. Then you pay 50 for the privilege. Is this fixed?

I was referring to the "Arrivals" level when I described the ticket machine etc.

Similar arrangement now in both Melbourne and Sydney where you get in a line and are directed to the next taxi according to a numbered system.

There is an officer standing at the machine to direct people to their waiting cabs.

Even if there is a line it moves remarkably fast.

I don't know how long it has been since you used SVB taxis LAG but now you have to line up to get a ticket from a machine which prints out the Bay number, Taxi ID and name of driver and you then walk across to that bay. You have a printed record of the details plus phone numbers to call if service is not good.

I have used these taxis 3 times in July and August this year and it was smooth as you like. No scams.

I don't have much trouble on Departures level. I refuse drivers that come running to me. I take guys politely waiting at their taxi or preferrably having just dropped off a customer. They are so grateful to get a customer, there is no scamming attempt. It's a long time since one did not use the meter. If the offered fee is fair, I would take it. Cost of rides have gone up recently.

Anyway due to competition can ask any driver his price and simply move to next one if offer is not good. I suppose it's much easier for me speaking Thai fluently. They will know there is no point ro try to rip me off.

To me, any ridiculous price is simply an indicator they do not really want my business. In other places, parked taxis never want my business. I catch moving taxis passing by, stopping them to talk to them of course.
