Having read the forum I thought I should give this bar a try. I walked in around 12 am. Got my beer. Took a round of the club. All I could see mostly was old hags. Few looked so tired that they were about to fall asleep there and then. I didn't lose hope and settled in the centre. The advantage here is that the lighting is ample and you get a good look at all the girls. Besides the girl stand in a big circle starting from the entrance and ending at the cashiers counter. Not being crowded I could see all the girls sitting at one spot. I spotted 2 girls one of which had already cozied up to an East Asian lad. The other one didn't seem to be making any eye contact. I got into Levels. It was a Ladies night and guess what was missing, Ladies. There was hardly a crowd inside. Maybe 5 or 6 average or below average gals. I got myself a SML. And walked out to smoke. Few girls standing there but mainly accompanied by gents. It was a sad show. I somehow finished my beer and spend around an hour hoping some girls might walk in and maybe I might have a chance. Most of the clubs peak around 2 am so was holding on. None of it happened and I left bewildered.

Paid the 300 baht entry and got in. Climax was pretty crowded and my spirit soared back again. Moved around looking for a good one. Didn't find any so settled in the standing area besides the drinks counter near the loo. I had a good view from here and could see all girls walk in and out of the loo or circling the club like us looking for possible prey. You cannot "buy" your good karma from someone else (the well-known bodhisattva in the Mahayana tradition of Buddhism) so you are the judge of your own actions (with karma being the ultimate arbitrator). That means that their moral philosophy is pretty flexible, a concept followers of monotheistice religions cannot really grasp as in those traditions morals are absolute since they are imposed by their supreme being.

For example: my present Thai GF would not come to my hotel room because "Buddha says no". After one dinner and one day of visiting places around Chiang Rai, she moved in with me in my hotel for the rest of my vacation. I asked her why she suddenly changed her mind. She said I was a good man, "jai dee" and not trying to take advantage of her or other people. And Buddha obviously has no problem with having sex with a "good man". I love Buddhism!

What we farang might see as breaking the rules, is in their mind just a re-evaluation of a flexible situation.

Has there been an increase in working girls from Laos, Cambodia (rarely) and Myanmar? I seem to end up with non-Thai's a lot (not a complaint) and just kind of find that aspect of the "shadow economy" interesting. I feel like half the women I have picked from soapies / oillies were non-Thai in the past few months.

My theory is that there is a bit of a talent shortage for the local brothels / pimps, and they are bringing in women from neighboring countries. I would imagine it has a lot to do with Thailand being a multi ethnic country. There are isaan people, the khmer of surin, buriram and sisaket, the Lana, the suay, white Thai, black Thai, Malaya, Burmese, kachin, Karen, shan, etc etc etc numbering in the millions and many of these groups stretch across borders. As with anywhere in the world more and more people from rural areas are being drawn into the cities and since there isn't much well paying work many end up in the black and grey industries.
