I'm just a little curious, but would US Customs really give a shit? Haven't they got bigger fish to fry? It's been a few years since I've had to battle the TSA though.

On one of my trips I cleared back in through LAX. I got a full inspection and he noticed a few condoms. He grilled me for 30 minutes asking (exact quote) "How many teenage girls did you fuck in Thailand?" I guess a senior gent traveling solo with condoms in his possession raised a red flag for him. I told him in no uncertain terms that!. It was none of his business what I did with whom and 2. I am not interested in children. And 3. That his questioning was out of line and bordering on illegal harassment.

And yes, I did file a complaint with with US C&BP. For that, I got on a list where I was inspected everytime I entered the US for over a year.

But customs is only a hassle. It's the wife that strikes fear in my heart.

The vast majority are not doable. I suppose when you walk past 30 old dragons and fatties and then see a couple of 20-somethings who are not overweight then they look like cuties. But then the clothes come off and the tits are hanging there and the stomach looks like a spider's web. There are usually a handful of girls who have quite pretty faces though. Nothing special, just ordinary Thai girls.

I will try to go get there some time to calibrate my idea of cuties with that of others. One problem for me is my idea of ST is a minimum of 60 minutes. I can't do 20 minute quickies. I have been surprised by reasonable looks of some Nana street walkers recently. So I guess improvement is always possible everywhere.

The modus operandi of the girls is to get you off as quickly as possible, so you would have to negotiate if you have different needs. TBH I'm surprised someone with the experience of Syzygies doesn't know more about this. It's very well known in Bangkok (among Thais), as is Lumpini Park and Sanam Luang which have similar street walkers for a similar price. Why not just go for a walk in the area if you're sceptical?

We can't be experts on everything. I don't even know much about Pattaya at all.

Of course its well known. I have read plenty of reports. However it's a few years since I had time to go looking in Chinatown and I have never actually checked out Lumpini despite it being closer. It was reported to have certain dangers of rip off girls there. Never tried Sanam Luang either as most reported desperate types there. I would be concerned about possible levels of various STDs as well.

It is possibly too far away from home for me to realistically use Chinatown as a place to monger. Would waste too much time to get there and back. Was quite an effort to even check out soapies Sao Botan (a bit closer) and Ida on Rama III. I would use MRT to get there going to Hua Lamphong station. I see with Google virtual street walk, that "The Cleopatra" is still there.

I would not say it is in the heart of Chinatown but near enough. Couple of Sundays back I took a rather lengthy walk from soi 4, Nana to Matri chit where all the street walkers are gathered for your business. It was rather early in the morning and I wanted to sweat out all the beer from the previous day. By the time I reached Matri chit I had worked up a good sweat and cooled off with a bottle of water. I intended to suss out the area, believing there would be no ladies around early Sunday morning but I was wrong, and delightfully so. There were roughly a dozen ladies on duty along the length of road. Half were doable the rest just plain fugly.

Bowled up to a cutey and had a chin wag with her. 500 baht ST + 100 for the room. Told her I would be back, she gave me a disapointed look but I did not want to jump right in, wanted to have a look round. Further on was also quoted 500, walked up to the rather attractive roundabout and saw a real cutey having breakfast she gave me a wanton smile, walked on around the corner and was quoted 400, I continued on down some roads past a fantastic looking temple, through a market and returned to Matri chit having walked the block. I was a little nervous but decided upon the first cutey I had talked to. She led the way to the nearby short time room, me following slowly, ensuring not to be jumped upon once in the room, had a good look around to the bemusement of the cutey. All ended well I am happy to report and left with a smile. I only did the one cutey but had the intention of returning at a later date towards evening but as things worked out I never did, having bumped into a cutey I had balled several years back and with my limited time in Bangkok had to leave unfortunately. Next time will have to wait as I see no reason why I should not return to Matri chit. The roundabout has no name which I find weird, even looked on the maps. We will just have to call it no name roundabout I guess.

Who said Bangkok chicks are expensive!

I have to cut my stay in BKK short by about a month and I have a couple dozen condoms that won't get used. Is there any place where I could donate them for the betterment of humanity? I can assure you the top 20% of the freelancers in Chinatown area look notably better than top 20% of freelancers on Sukhumwit. The bottom 50% are truly awful looking, though.

As for the answers, some things are mysterious. Maybe the option of working in the daytime suits them better? Maybe 700 baht /20 min deal with an average Thai punter suits them better than 1000-2000 for a tedious hour with a Farang or Arab with their foreign language and unpredictable sexual demands? Maybe the neighborhood suits them better? Many things are unexplained in that murky world.

I agree with this. No need for anyone to be sceptical. Comparing 500-700 with 1000-2000 is not comparing like with like because of the time differences you state. Chinatown girls hang out directly outside ST rooms and could earn more in a night with several customers than a Sukhumvit girl could with a smaller number.

I actually gave a rookie some advice on the German scene a few years back and met the guy (coincidence that he was in town the same time). He cabbed from club to club and I offered to drive him back to his hotel a few times, each time he gave me cash for the ride and as payment for my help both via email and in the club. So maybe seniors here should offer their private emails to rookies with their attached paypal accounts so the rookies could pay for said service. I'd happily send suggestions for 2000 baht.

Jeez Scorchin, many of your post really are negative and a bit hostile towards the other members here. FYI, I know the circle because I have been in that area for other things, namely motorbike tires. I have never been there looking for gals, so no I have nothing to add, unless you want a tip on a good motorbike tire shop. I would not have been asking about the location if I knew about chasing tail there.

I think there are several factors, junk food being only one.

First, today's Thais have a lot more disposable income than in years past. Thais being Thais, they love to spend that money on food.

Second, the Western culinary influence. When I first came to BKK in 1999 one of the first things I noticed was that decent bread was virtually unobtainable unless you went to a decent Western restaurant, preferably German. I knew that the ingredients and technology were there, but the end product wasn't available. Fast forward a few years, add a bunch more foreigners and more Thai disposable income. Now every mall of any size has at least one doughnut shop and at least one high-end bakery. Visit any one and you won't see farangs streaming out the door with bags of goodies.

So I think that the confluence of the West, more money, and more food have resulted in all the Thais having a bit more avoirdupois than in years past.

I remember when I first arrived in Thailand without a wife 23 years ago that it was very hard to find a decent coffee (was not in a 5 star hotel). Also that bakeries had just total crap that did not resemble a western bakery in any way. I guess they baked with rice flour rather than wheat flour. They obviously did not have any western customers.

Later american style junk food places opened like the donut shops utilising excessively high sugar content. Donuts in my country were quite different.

You can buy cakes that are quite nice in Thailand today. 20 years ago I never found any. Thai style Pizzas are really discusting with lots of tomato sauce and Mayo. So its clear western food has had a very bad influence, although Thai food has always come with a large spoonful of sugar and heavy salt.

Bar girls have recently been getting fatter as crack down on drugs has caused them to eat more food instead. Essentially drugs like Yaa Baa and Ice were weight loss meassures of a very questionable type. Now girls drink Yaa Dong, Tequilas and Coke which don't help the waistline.

Not sure why most of the Oily girls are so fat. I was not doing Oilies until maybe 8 years ago.

In general, a high portion of Thai girls married and with babies are letting themselves go and not looking after their bodies. Husbands leave though and these girls have to become hookers.

When 18 to 20 year old girls are already fat, I really wonder what is going on. However my step daughter is growing fast and does like to eat a lot of junk food in packets that I don't eat. She is not fat but is only 14 and is into a lot of sport. I guess 20 years ago teenagers could not afford to buy so much junk food.

Guys beware of this girl. I made a Rookie mistake and felt sorry for her after seeing her on Soi 11, she talked to me, and kept calling so I asked her to meet me. I took her to my room and low and behold left my wallet in my computer bag, and she stole all my dollars and Thai baht. I am embarrased to tell you how much but she cleaned me out. - over $800.

I always lock my stuff in the safe, just stupid on my part. She is very Very short about 5-2 and fat for Thai. I have no one to blame but myself.

Exit Hua Lamphong MRT, look for sign indicating Central Station hotel, cross the canal, you will enter a large intersection, look for the street Maitri Chit which forks to your right. This way the circle does not come into play, you will not find the cicle by searching Google maps as it is unamed.

Not too sure readers should be swayed by a negative member who clearly and admittedly has not been there for some time, if ever.

Your last two words were quite unnecessary when I made it quite clear it was long ago and my memory fades. However I have certainly been there and entered the Massage joint called The Cleopatra. Don't know if it still operates. At least I knew how to spell the word Maitri Chit correctly. I have surveyed Chinatown in the past including Texas massage also. I wrote reports on it too several years back.

I merely indicated a scepticism about girl quality but it has long been known to be an area for very cheap girls along with Sanam Luang as well. Each to there own. For some the price is all important. For me, the quality is all important and I found no quality to my specs in my visits to Chinatown years ago.

When guys talk about the decline over the years, what I can agree with is the increase in proportion of fatties and the increase in fake noses and tits. I suppose that leaves a lesser number of girls with acceptable looks for me and for sure my taste got fussier as well.

Of course I am not that fabulous looking myself but quite reasonable for my age and only marginally overweight. Young Thai girls are not going to pick me for looks. Yet still I can be picky when paying.
