Out of 3 nights in BKK, I saved one night for Suthisan gogo bars. I have been many times in last 10 years. Still never feel very comfortable in this all Thai zone. Last trip here at T-ded I had a very pushy concierge, and did not have a good time. I decided to try again here.

I went in T-ded and glad did not see that pushy gay concierge. This time the guy was decent did not bother me at all. I told them I just want a beer, but they still brought me the peanuts, and all that accessories.

There are lots of ladies working here, the majority have some cosmetic surgeries especially nose and boobs, many have boobs just look too big for their bodies.

So it is not that cheap. It's close to the Soi Cowboy charge. But to me Soi Cowboy is still more fun at least for foreigners I think. I will come back here to check time to time.

For a bus tour yes, but private booking not sharing, not at all possible to get 1K. Cost me 4K for vehicle to send my group of 5 to Trat. Much further than Kanchanaburi. However while a taxi for the day could be a lot cheaper, there are limits to cheapness.

You are well situated for some late night action. I would not bother arranging anything in advance. Walk across the street to NEP they are open until 2 am. After closing the ladies flood the streets. There should also be a good amount of NPL prospects milling about. The lady boy activity increases as the night goes on so be aware of that. Security should not be an issue they will take her ID at the hotel, and if you give them a small tip they will call the room afterwards before returning it to her. As for STD's practicing safe sex is always in order.

Last February I visited Kachanaburi independently for a few days. I took the bus from Bangkok and returned the same way though my original intention was to return by train. However, the train, which was scheduled to leave at 3:30 pm sat at the station for three hours and I eventually got off and returned to my hotel for an additional night. I originally went up with a girl but she was a bit weird and bailed after the first night.

In addition to a few girlie bars near the main street parallel to the river. I was informed by locals that there is a spectacular go-go bar on the main drag with incredibly hot girls and prices to match. All available for take out and on-site. Didn't go but maybe next year.

The hotels, some of them quite nice, are very inexpensive compared to Bangkok and the overall ambience of the town is very nice. Plus the weather, at least in Feb was more pleasant.

I rented a kayak for a solo non guided tour of the river, which was easy to do via my hotel. The river is flat as a board due to an upriver dam. Also, the cemeteries are very well cared for and quite poignant and worth a stroll.

In short, a guided tour is totally unnecessary unless you want to do a quickie look in one day. I should add that I speak zero Thai and the local population was quite friendly with a surprising amount of ex-pats in the area.

There a select few tour operators to which these travel shops cater to. Just walk in to any. There is also one on Suk after the Thermae, just before Soi 15. If you turn in to Soi15 there is another one on the right.
