Yes, but less demand for their services will affect the girls behavior towards the shrinking pool of existing customers. It should get better. I just spent 4 weeks in LOS as part of a 6 week tour through South East Asia. I found the girls were more friendly and outgoing than I can remember in the last 7 or 8 years. Prices are not down, but If you have the money, now is a great time to do Thailand and the Philippines. Take my word for it. I will post a trip report as soon as I can get my shit together.

The lure of easy inexpensive sex is a powerful drug. But it won't sustain you for many years. You have to develop other interests. I live in Bangkok for most of the year and have done so for about 5 years now. I know a lot of guys who have been burnt out by the sex and then just sort of go into a deep funk because they never thought they would get tired of it. That is Fool's Gold. That may end some day but more likely than not it will just be aging that may change everything. And I wonder why anyone would want to live anywhere else but Thailand.

Good advise. After years of living in South America I arrived in BKK five months ago. I've knocked around a bit, tasted Chiang Mai and Pattaya (as well as Hanoi). Tomorrow I sign a year's lease in BKK. I can't think of many reasons not to.

There are always taxis at the airport. Just go to the top floor departures, walk outside, then walk across to the median and pick one. Make them run the meter. You will have to pay the tolls. Total should be about 300 baht.

You will have not trouble finding a cab at the airport. It'll take you about 60mn to get out of the airport at that time (luggage, customs.) and a 20 to 30mn drive to your hotel. This means that you will probably be ready to score around 3am. If you get to the city during the weekend, you will have more options than if it's a weekday (lots of places stay open later during the weekend).

Staying in the Nana area, I would recommend you give soi 11 and soi 4 a try.

Soi 11: Climax and Bash will probably still be open, and packed with freelancers (hundreds!). You'll also run into freelancers on the way there.

Soi 4: NEP (Nana Entertainement Plaza with all the go go bars) will be closed, but Hillary 4 will probably still be open. It's a bar with live music, pool and only freelancers. Lots of freelancers to be found directly on the street as well (watch out for LB!)

As for money, just change what you need for the 1st night directly at the airport. During the day, you can change money everywhere in BKK.

Bash is with Climax the only club on soi 11 that stays open after 3am. Bed Superclub, Qbar and Levels all close at 3. 30 at the latest.

As a result, a lot of expats and tourists (not only sex tourists) will go to Bash late if they want to keep partying. However. 90% of the girls at Bash are thai, and IMO freelancers.

The club being a year old or so, it's in much better shape than Climax. I would say that it's like Climax, but classier. And more expensive (400 bath entry fee that gets you 2 drinks)

Unfortunately they are. The 50km of coast from Cha-Am to Hua Hin to Pranburi is packed stiff with them, mainly northern Europeans. That's probably the biggest area now but you see the same thing all around Pattaya, Chiangmai, and even (unbelievably) Udon Thani.

What's wrong with affluent, well-rounded people retiring in Thailand? Hua Hin is on my short list of retirement locations, or at least a second retirement home.
