I fully echo paul's sentiments. The bad news is that by the time I am financially able to make that choice to live where I want and - today that is Bangkok - in a few years from now, it might have the same inflation and cost of living issues as some of the most desirable global cities of today! But such is life and you got to just hope that it all works out as hoped or desired for in the end.

To each his own. I've traveled and lived all over the world, including some very desirable locations. For 20 years my home base was in San Francisco, and I have (had) plenty of money to appreciate all the Bay Area has to offer. For the past fifteen years Bangkok has been one of my favorite places to visit. Yes, it's dirty and congested and Thailand has its problems but I l always look forward to my next trip; and may one day settle there.

There is no insult, it is just simply an ugly, dirty, polluted, congested huge city without any major attraction and no quality of life unless one lives retreated 24/7 in a luxury apartment or spa. I'm surprised by how many tourists it attracts, and sincerely doubt that any will be back a 2nd time. I'm sorry if you live here and got convinced yourself of the contrary.

I've lived in and visited the capitals of many other countries, some 1st word, some not. All were infinitely better than Bangkok.

Some "ranking", Bangkok is nowhere to be found.

Bangkok sucks, but prices aren't same as in California yet. Upscale small apartment in best location $1K a month or $100K to buy, try that in Calif.

Not just better than California, ok air not too good, but best supporting infrastructure and best condo (rental / buy) bargains in southeast asia. Look at the apartment prices in Ho Chi Minh City these days.

What are your Top Ten list of food venues? I don't mean to imply that only restaurants only should be listed, because some of the best food seems to be at some of the street side vendors, too.

I have a few days in BKK coming up and wouldn't mind checking out some of your best picks!

That looks like the Wonder Bread quality of living index. All polished and great cities. I have a home in one of them. Comparing Bangkok to any of them is like comparing apples to rambutan.

Setting aside the abundance of and my attraction to Thai women, for me BKK was an acquired taste. It's definitely a gritty place but has corners of posh and smugness too. Personally I'm into the urban vibe. It's urban as it gets, old mixed with new. When you first show up it can be a bit overwhelming.

I'm sitting in one of those polished living survey cities right now. Compared to BKK I find it boring and I can't wait to get back in a few weeks. My two cents.

Several other board members have chipped in on this debate as well and I completely agree with their stance. If you don't want to pay 1, 000 baht for a blow-job then don't, it's really that simple. Go somewhere that offer 700 baht blow-jobs in an environment more to your liking. I know of ultra seedy places in China town where you can pay 200 baht for FS. If it is purely a price orientated stance you have then I would advise going to places other than Sukhumvit which is far from the cheapest in tow.

This type of comment is typical of the spitefulness you exhibit. I am not cheap far from it and to suggest I am is insulting. Blow jobs are available in Sukhumvit not Chinatown at 700, you know this so why try and distort what was an honest reflection on my visit to your place. Visited Q Bar. Small place, aims to be sophisticated, reason for which drinks are priced twice as much as normal.

Few apparent FLs and the mixed stuff that one never get to know for sure what it is. Seen a Thai girl with the body of a Brasilian? Few others from 6 to 8. Male to female ratio 60/40.

Back to Infinity. One thin girl wants me to buy a drink for her friend, that actually has two half full glasses in front of her, and was not even remotely interested. Meaning: "Sucker, pay up, then walk". I walked without paying.

Finally one slim half drunk Pheet pinches my butt, at least showed the will, something looked promising (namely the sleazy horny sl*t looks) , so I took her home. Body OK, no towel roll bullshit, great energetic session for as long it lasted, wanted jizz all over mouth and face. Then as it happens she wanted to go home, gave her 1K and taxi money. Would repeat.

Well stated and I agree with you. It has changed, and the changes will continue. Bangkok is a very dynamic city, and not just in the P4P scene. Globalization has brought an unfortunate sameness across the planet. We are seeing the WalMarting of the sex industry and the complete commercialization of Thailand. Some may live it; I myself do not.

I absolutely agree with you. Western countries are not what they used to be and meanwhile wealth has flown out to rest of the world resulting in higher rates and low availability. I paced up and down on sukhumvit several times and could not find evrn one girl to my liking. All below 3/10.

I am afraid it is only going to become even more uglier (pun not intended)

Thanks for your thoughts Skogis. Nice to hear from a seasoned monger who doesn't seem to have an agenda, an axe to grind or a fight to pick. As for Elena, the Subway fixture, what's the story with her, if you know? She seems a hard working working girl. I'm guessing she might have an impressive skill set.

If I don't remember terrible wrong I mean I read a post inside here not to long ago (within a month or so) of a fellow mongerer who had ST with Elena back at her place (Soi 24 I think it was). He was satisfied with her performance if I remember correctly. I agree she looks like a hardned workinggirl but I did talk to her my last trip and she was actually quite nice to talk to (I only bought her some Sub food which she did appreciate). She had good mood and was cheerful (oposite to many of her fellow Russian brothers / sisters). In fairly dimmed light setting outside Subway nighttime she does not look to bad (I don't talk her down but I can't remember seen her in broad daylight). Atleast I have seen worse looking girls in same light settings. I have never seen her standing so I don't know how she is bodywice. So big Kudos to the first detailed FR from bedhumping with Elena. I look forward to that one (no, I will not take her to write that report, sorry).
