(Sometimes you do have to submit ATM slips with fees on them, but you will be reimbursed).
With CURRENCY exchanges, if changing currency, they (or at least they did) want PRISTINE bills, no ink, no marks, no tears regardless of how small, sometimes no folds or creases. Maybe that's changed, it's been a long time since I've exchanged currency and even longer since traveler's checks (Yes, I am THAT old). ATM's are just too convenient, though watch out for the local bank fees.

Doc says I'm returned to duty, so wanted a weapon check before resuming some postponed assignations with some top stars. Off to Wood's (BJ) bar at 11:45. Lineup, ask for Som. She's outside eating. She comes in, says I should pick someone else as she's eating spicy. Disappointing, but no problem me, I can run some errands. Each of us has our priorities.
Walk down to Foodland to look for my favorite snacks. Unsurprisingly, they don't have. Another small disappointment.
So sky train to Siam. Get off, what's going on, did they move MBK? Oops, memory lapse. Luckily, I haven't exited, so hop on the 1 stopper to National Stadium. Walk in, find Dunkin Donuts. I don't see what I want (and I AM beginning to detect a pattern here). Ask, and it seems that the chocolate Bavarian is no more. WTF? Now that IS a crushing blow. It's a chocolate donut with a cream filling, hard chocolate shell on top. It's even on their website. How hard is that to make? They certainly have powdered Bavarians for sale. Seems that their menu has been sharply curtailed.
Devastated, I take the opportunity of the proximity of the sky train to Patpong. There, I hit Foodland. My snacks are in stock, but almost expired. No problem. I get down on my knees, rummage around behind, and true the world over, find fresher ones behind the expiring ones.
And since I'm in the vicinity, I walk over to The World (BJ bar), 13:00. The staff are good to go. Inside, say I'm only going to take 1 today. Order a beer, two lady drinks, one for her and one for someone who didn't make it through the pandemic, RIP. Spend some time at the bar, relaxing, some fine tunes playing, then move to the benches where we both strip for action. Door locked.
Satisfied that everything works, I finish my beer, we dress, move to the bar, and I ask for the bill. 1450. Whoa, Nellie. Let me see that (might be old but I can still do math in my head). What's this (1000}? For BJ. BJ's ARE 800. Oh, OK, scratch, scratch, scratch. 1250. What's this? Beer, 150. Beer IS 100. OK, scratch, scratch, scratch. 1200. Ahhhhh. The old cashier gives me the ole look, damn, thought I could charge you the tourist price, not the local. What, I have to call my shots every time? I was in there 10 days ago and everybody else remembered me. She puts 2 100's and some assorted small bills on the tray. I'm not mad, but ... I scoop it all up, hand the 2 100's to the provider, and pocket everything else for taxi fare. Irksome.
Now take the MRT to Asoke. Large security presence in the underground space at the head of the MRT escalator. Guess there were some flash demos yesterday. I take the escalators up to the sky train. Walking Thong Lo (LONG gone are the days when it was ALL shop houses), stop at an ATM to freshen up my wallet. On to Foodland, and yes, more snack shopping, same MO. Stop at the restaurant to have a drink; it's like Cheers, eye contact, head nod, order brought.
One last stop. If you like gelato, and who doesn't, stop at Ampersand for the evening's desert. It's not cheap, but excellent gelato, and I lived in Italy for 3 years. Missions accomplished, RTB.

Vasu Exchange at the corner of Sukhumvit / Soi 7 is another good place to exchange money.

Posts: 148Scotch Tape and Thais. This has been going on since Mr Scotch invented tape.
35 baht worth of cherry tomatoes cums in plastice container. Fine and dandy. Except Thais seal it with a Sticker, Maybe advertising.
Hard to open under these circumstances.
Imagine Scotch Taping added over Sticker. Take 2 minutes to open.

Like anything in life, the more effort you put in, the more you get out. The forum is especially helpful to those that try to help themselves first. Besides searching, read the most recent 10 (arbitrary number) pages to see if anything is applicable. Doing so, THEN asking a question will be much more likely to be answered by someone knowledgeable. Or don't. YMMV.

For those who don't have a Thai bank account, use the Wise ATM card.

Today hit Bangkok immigration Suwanaapoom Air. 1. 30 pm.
Looked just like recent photo. Lots of people looking like madness.
No worries people. The line moves. I was in back quite a ways, I got out in 45 minutes.
Nice immigration lady even let Foreigner s use Thai line when no This in sight. That really made things move.
