Why would you bring Marijuana into Thailand. It is available for sale in Bangkok and Pattaya, legally, on every street corner.

Its good to read its easily available in BKK. In fact, availability was my question (see FR 52688).

My thanks to everyone who answered my query, even the ones who think my friend is crazy for having brought marijuana into BKK every year for the last decade, and were not shy about telling me so. For the record, I agree.

It is available for sale everywhere. Totally legal. Numerous storefronts in the tourist areas. Many sellers on the street.

Prices are expensive. More than California. The good quality chronic is mainly imported. It seems to be around 800 baht per gram. Although I talked to one guy. He said his stuff came from an indoor operation in Thailand. His stuff was 700 baht per gram. Obviously, the prices will drop when the Thais learn how to mass produce good quality indoor weed. They will eventually learn how to grow good outdoor quality weed. You need to supplement light (during growth) and subtract light (during budding).

You also have cheap outdoor stuff (from SE Asia) available. Not good quality. Weed is not tight; not much crystals. Taste is poor. Price I think was about 100 baht per gram. That still seems expensive for cheap stuff grown locally.

It will take a while for the Thai government to crack down, IMO, if ever. Not sure why people would be scared of weed on the street. It's out in the open. If you are an expert, you can see the quality. Pesticide potential is the same as in store fronts. Also, there has to be pesticide even in the some of the weed you buy in California. Everyone will spray at the first signs of infestation if you have huge money involved. Don't even trust the legal stores with the government testing requirement in California. The grower has to supply the testing company once every one or two years; and of course you will give the company your best weed free of pesticide.

A few tidbits about the bars from my trip a couple of weeks ago.

Soi Cowboy:

Crazy House: Lots of naked girls. A lot fewer girls post lockdown and looks like the average age went up to late 20's to 30's, unlike prior years where this place seemed to specialise in early 20's girls. While I enjoy Chatuchak as a hunting ground (you would be surprised what the camera can do) and go there on occasion for the sights and sounds I usually end up in the Buttefly place in Rot Fai park. I don't really shop or eat at Chatuchak, except snacks and the like.

For markets, I prefer local ones like Wang Lang, where the food is amazing and the clothes are cheap, not that I need clothes or care about the cost of anything other than in principle (I'm not paying100 baht for a plate of Pad Krapow Moo when its 30 baht in local areas).

There are so many great local markets it makes sense for even a tourist to experience the real thing, which Chatuchak (and the Train market up in Hwaii Kwang) are not, being geared primarily for tourists.

Jump on the skytrain, get off at Pak Nam, and hit the seafood market. Or grab the SRT train at Talat Plu Market (off the BTS) and head down to Maha Chai.

My advice to every visitor is to see the sights, but head off the beaten path for real fun.

My further advice for longer stay travelers IE 90 days or more is live outside of the tourist districts. Your 35 K baht condo in Asoke is 11 K across the river.

For my upcoming trip I think I'm either going to be in Bang Sue, or Thonburi again.

Available on many street corners. And even the Pot sellers will walk up to you and pitch their LOW THC buds. So IMO it is easily available but the quality is shit as they can't have much THC in thier buds. Just my opinion.
