I agree. I never seen or knew about a Thai person offering to pay or do something that they did not really desired to do. It is customary for westerns, not for them.

To the contrary I've seen Thai man women shelling out their money for whatever they got and not making a fuss about it.

Are other bars starting to accept LBs as dancers or bar-finable staff? I'm excluding the Suzi Wong LB mamasan.

IMO, ladyboys or post-op ex-guys have always been around in the go-go bars, at least in the past 15 years. I'm assuming most of them are post-op ex-guys; I've never checked; LOL! (Those types of surgeries are relatively inexpensive in Thailand).

Ok, this is a question for the pros that get action at the bar in places like jungle jims, toy, etc. How do you keep the momasons at bay in these place to get the dances cuter girls (stage girls). I have everything done right at the bar but general the girl is not one of the dancer and the number of drinks to the momason and girl add up fast. I am not trying to be cheap but then I want to get the most for my money.

Yes that isn't easy sometimes to keep away the vultures, they will come in numbers and get some drinks out of you. They of course make cash on the drinks or have a minimum Quota to obtain so they will be very aggressive.

Just politely say no. Tell them that if you see a lady you like, you will invite her and buy a drink.

After a few minutes of standing there with nothing, they will move on.

Also, ALWAYS pay your Bill as you go. I know many people will tell you that the bars are fair and all that, well it's ok if you trust them but I don't. I don't want to leave any temptation to anyone (waitresses, mamasans, Bartenders, Bargirls). I have seen girls come and slip their drink bill to the customers bill-holder, waitresses cheating customers on change (pretending he gave 500 instead of 1000) and mamasans never helping the poor client.

Be nice but firm about what you want, you are the customer and you are spending your money so don't let the girls dictate what you should do.

There is No "face" in this game, some girls are very sweet and will show you a good time. Just make sure it's the girl you want, YOU are the one to choose.

Way different to what I was pessimistically expecting.

It's interesting, that sometimes one can be too pessimistic and worry too much.

Not everyone here is trying to suck every bath out of you and rip you off like many people say. I've lived in Asia for a decade (and in other third world countries before) and it's an often repeated cliché, mostly by disgruntled or parroting expats, that all Thai-Chinese-Columbians-Namibians etc try to suck your last penny out of you. True sometimes, not true all the time, in my experience. One shouldn't get too cynical or one may miss out on fun experiences. The problem is it's such a common thing to discuss among expats that you start to believe it and repeat it. I too have my "they all try to rip you off" days and bar rants.

A couple of days ago I was invited to party in a disco by a WG with her other WG friends after their shift. "Yeah right, so I can pay for all the drinks, no thanks", I thought, and I passed. After meeting that girl again it's clear she just liked me and wanted to have a good time. I had dinner with her and she offered and insisted to pay the bill. Over 700 baths. Anyway, I was way off the mark with my pessimistic assumptions.

Sometimes it's good to just go for it. The most you can lose is a couple of hundred baths. Then you'll have a funny rip off report to write
