Lots of police out on Silom Road this morning, mobilizing with riot gear. More than I've seen in the past few weeks.

I think the gov'mint wants to use today's holiday to start cleaning things up. But, remember Songkhran a year ago? Things can get ugly fast when the police (and militarty) push too hard.

Things are escalating today, be careful out there, avoid all the area around the Rajprasong intersection, Childlom, Siam Square.

The red shirt leaders will try to move the demonstrations to 11 restricted roads today (Sathon, Silom, Suriwong, Asoke etc.), and the government is in the dilemma whether to allow that or to use force to stop the red shirts from moving there.

UDD security guards were already sent to intersections at Prathunam, Ploenchit, Pathumwan and Chidlom areas to confront police and troops.

Obviously some red shirt groups are already in Asoke or on their way to the house of the prime minister (Soi 31) - I can hear them from here (Soi 33).

Went into Baccara last night. For my money the hottest girls on the soi are in here. There are hot girls in Tilac as well but they don't take their tops off for some insane reason. As an update, many oily massage places around Sukhumvit are shutting down soon for the holidays as the girls go home for Thai New Year.

Around the 12th April to 16th April period many will be shut, re-opening on the 17th.

Asking a few bar girls and girls in the BG etc.. and they all say they are going home around the 10th for a couple of weeks.

I would suggest therefore from the 10th April the number of freelancers is going to slide down and then the massage places shut down and bar girls go home too.

All in all as far as Bangkok goes I would suggest its an avoid for mongering for at least a week, 10th to 17th April as your choices are going to be very limited.

...The red shirt leaders have announced yesterday to rally on other sides of Bangkoks central business district, too, such as Silom Road, Sathon Road and Suriwong Road. This has NOT happened yet.
... The mood right now here in Bangkok is shifting, because with blocking this central intersection there is a major impact on business and traffic - clearly realized by most Bangkokians.

Soi Nana, lower Sukhumvit, Soi Cowboy - business as usual.
The way from and to the airport is free, but controlled by police and army - there are smaller traffic jams in both ways. Plan a bit more time when going to the airport.

Moving in Bangkok - try to use the Skytrain, then you will not encounter any problem. If you use a taxi coming from Sukhumvit avoid the area starting at Soi 1 towards Chidlom - major traffic jam there. Petchaburi Road towards Pratunam - avoid, not easy to get to Panthip right now. If you go from the the lower Sukumvit area to Patpong avoid all the demonstration area by going via Asoke / Rama 3.

I expect a bit of an escalation in the next few days. The government tries to get arrest warrents against the red-shirt leaders, the demonstration at Rajprasong intersection is basically illegal.

"The car bomb explosion outside the Poseidon massage parlour on Sunday night is unlikely to have been politically motivated, Commerce Minister Pornthiva Nakasai said on Monday.

The huge massage parlour and entertainment centre on Ratchadaphisek, Din Daeng, is owned by Bhumjaithai Party secretary-general Pornthiva's father, Surinat Saksiriwetakul.

I think NEP has really gone downhill; some of the GREAT bars of YEARS past are wastelands now, and I do mean wastelands. Not ugly girls, but FEW girls. Wise words. I am still in the stage where I think that I can always find something better. Although I have a solution to my problem I don't think that most of you will agree with me. On my first trip to BKK I was told "you see, you like, you buy. " So if I come across a dashing young lady early in the night, I will BF her and tell her I will be back later. I will then proceed to continue my search for perfection. If I don't find anyone then I can always go back to a good pick or if I find a better girl I will just go with her. Its like a WG layaway program.

But thats just me, I don't mind spending 600 baht on a girl that I might not even take home. I like to know that I have some kind of safety net for me at the end of the night.

No offense intended, but worrying about a safety net in bangkok seems completely unnecessary. In some places and situations I can imagine it is rational to reserve and then come back in case you don't find something better... but in Bangkok there are literally hundreds of available gorgeous women within a few blocks of each other. Between Nana, Thermae, Biergarten and Cowboy, not to mention all the soapies, massage places, street walking FLs, how could one possibly be worried about not finding something you like? I can imagine getting frozen by having too many that I like and being unable to choose, but that's a different problem!
