for tourist visa holders - there needs to be demonstrated evidence that you're not just a regular tourist (i.e. living in Thailand, home owning, family commitments etc). They won't do this on a "new account" or itinerant tourist - some degree of length of stay is required.

But some of the people had no problem opening up an account with just passport and cash while others were turned away. I am going to try my luck in Mar.

If I am able to open up an account at Kasikorn Bank, do you know if their ATM will work with other banks or do I have to find a Kasikorn ATM. If so, can someone tell me if their ATM are easily found in Thailand? Thanks

You can open a Kasikorn account with nothing more then cash... They never asked for anything more then my Passport and how much I was going to deposit.

Well in truth they did ask for my address and I gave them one but they never checked it, they never checked for a visa or work permit or anything. They asked for my mobile number and that was it.....

TMB is more difficult to open an account at.

I have opened a savings account at Kasikorn (2) and at Krung Thai (2) with just a tourist visa, passport and address.

You can open a Kasikorn account with nothing more then cash... They never asked for anything more then my Passport and how much I was going to deposit.

Do not stay at the honey hotel. i had an expensive ring stolen from my room when I stayed there for a few nights.

I never ever have had anything stolen at the Honey Hotel (in fact, not at any hotel in Thailand actually), but it's true that I also don't leave any valuable item clearly visible in the room (it's either locked in one of my bags, or in the safe).

Well, so if BKK is your "hell" I would LOVE to hear where your heaven is. I wager that you either didn't know where to go or else you are very inexperienced. I really don't know what else could be the answer unless you want to restrict yourself to the antispectic, super-expensive places in the Western world. BTW, you can have 'them.

First of all, this report is from a very subjective kind of view. I'm sure that one can have a lot of fun in Bangkok. But not me.

It must be one of the ugliest city in the world. Though I haven't been to Mogadishu, Addis Abeba or Ulan Bathor yet, I'm sure Bangkok can compete with any of those.

I stayed at the Grand Millenium which is highly recommend. It's an upscale place to a reasonable price. The rooms are awesome and just a few hundred meters away from Soi Cowboy and Sukhumvit / Asoke station. If you want a quiet room, ask for one with the endings. 06.. 12. The others are heading to busy Asoke Road and are very noisy all night even on the higher floors

I went to the usual spots (Nana, Soi Cowboy, Patpong) crowded with drunk tourists and mostly ugly girls (or ladyboys) and of course all were "my friends" because I'm such a "handsome man". This combined with the awful music clanging out of every joint made it a torture to stroll around.

After realizing this is not my cup of tea I thought I'd give one of the world famous massage parlours a try.

I decided my first MP experience should be at Poseidon.

Arriving on a Saturday at 8pm 20 fishes were swimming in the aquarium but nothing worth putting out the angling rod. Went up to the 2nd floor, the so-called "model area". Lots of girls here, but unfortunately no models at all.

Mamasan introduced 6-7 girls but only one was an appealing 7 (I'm actually a little picky).

When I followed my newfound mid20s girlfriend Ben to the elevator, a real stunner came along. Damn, I should have waited just a little longer.

Honey hotel good be ok. I also have to stay a few nights in Bangkok next month. The only thing that worries me are several reports on Tripadvisor site that something had been stolen there from their rooms, probably by the staff. Some of those reports were old so I guess the staff might have changed and the problem solved, who knows.

I was last month staying in Citadines soi 11 but I think their 2000 baht a night was a little too much for the small room.

I have read reports in another forum about people having stuff stolen as well. I PM'd the guy, as I was considering staying there, and he verified it.

This was about 8-9 months ago.

Two of them in NE Thailand and the other two in branches within the Exchange Tower at Asoke. And yes it can depend on the bank and its manager or the mood of the day. Just walk to another branch and give it a go.

2nd question, How much would the total be in BJ bars? I know that you would pay the girls usually 700B, but there are different opinion on the 300B to the bar. Some are saying that you would need to pay that if you go to a private room, others are saying that you would pay the 300 even if you sit on the couch. Would like to clear this up if possible.

If someone can tell me if this is the same for My friend U bar in Pattaya, I would really appreciate it since it would save me a post in the Pattaya section.

The cheap rooms used to be very small indeed. Bigger than a dog kennel but I would suggest take the higher class room is a good idea. Things could have changed as I didn't stay there a long time now.

I think Silq is a better idea (although has no pool) if can afford it.

How much there at Silq? Why's it better ?

I did stay in a garage room once -- it was ok but pretty cramped and for the 200 baht more per night, the rooms upstairs are a much better deal. There's something not right about entering your room through a garage, and inside it has a makeshift feel to it mainly due to the size.

I have to say, I've always told myself "this time I'm gonna try the pool" but "this time" has never come and I've stayed at Honey probably 10 times by now. It's a pretty small pool.
