I'll be passing through BKK for a couple of days next month and am looking for some input/recommendations from this board on hotels to stay at while there. In previous trips, I have usually stayed at the Ruamchitt Plaza because that is where Thermae is located but, to be honest, this hotel is a bit of a dump and I would like a change of venue. I was considering the Nana hotel but read that it isn't much better.

I would like to stay at a girl-friendly, clean place on Sukhumvit within easy walking distance of NEP, Soi Cowboy and the Thermae and at a cost of less than 2,000 baht per night. Not looking for luxury of course but want to step up from the dinginess of Ruamchitt Plaza.

Any input and recommendations would be appreciated.

Hey, good to seeing you again and glad you were successful in your hunt last night. Pita, my buddy and I decided to stop by Thermae first for a look around before heading to Soi Cowboy.

This was my first time checking this place out. Thermae caters to a primarily japanese crowd, but I sensed no overt hostility towards us when we entered. The girls were mostly sitting/standing against the booths and walls. There were certainly plenty of them available (two or three dozen), which was a nice contrast to the places we were at before. We did one loop around and spotted 2 or 3 potentials. On the 2nd loop around, we got hassled by the staff about either paying for a drink or getting the hell out. So we paid for some water while making a 2nd trip around. Both Pita and I found some evening companions, while my buddy came up empty. I need some advise from this brain trust on this site. I will be in Bangkok on business next week and was wanting to take a couple of the Eden girls out overnight. I have been to Eden once before but this time I wanted to have a session that is less rushed. I am back from my trip and the two days in Bangkok.

Below is a review of my experiance.

I landed at 11:00am and was at the hotel by 1:00pm. I checked in and went to the pharmacy on Soi 11 for some Cialis and other supplies at 7-11. I then returned to the hotel, showered and ventured out to Bier Garten. Sat there for a while and was approached by several girls. Nothing caught my fancy so I moved on to the GoGo bars at Soi Cowboy area. After a couple of drinks here, I went to a massage place called De Luxury on Soi 19 that I had read about before going to Bangkok. I was shown an album and I made my selection. I agree with Tansak on this one. "Up to You" is really a license to pay anything between the "going rate" and any higher amount based on a performance beyond the average. Its not really a license to underpay unless she specifically says won't accept money, or she gave no service at all.

I never get into extended negotiation over prices. This would be a mood killer for probably both of us.

Most bargirls are keen to see me again. If not, then I probably chose unwisely, which happens occasionally with really stunning girls.

"Up to you" to me means "Yes, lets work on details".
It then depends on the girls and lots of other things, some covered by MP Lurker.
I try not to get into extended negotiations the first time, especially if i like the girl (chemistry) and if she is young and has limited English. I try to pay the going rate plus tip and taxi and discuss LT if i want later. If she has a baby or lives with parents, LT an options, at least the first time but an extended daytime session for later interaction is almost always an option.
