Bar fine THB 3000 - that was either a misunderstanding with the cousin, and she already included the "service fee", or they really tried to rip you off.

Bar fine in Soi Cowboy should be THB 600, and the rest is a deal between you and the girl.

THB 200 for a lady drink also seams to be a lot ... I heard now that most of the gogo's in nana charge THB 140 for a Heineken. Soi 33 now seams to be cheaper than those areas (except the bar fines).

In my discussion with the cousin I told her that I had just had a quote of 600 baht for a bar fine at another Cowboy bar, so she knew that I knew current prices.

The price for lady drinks was higher because it was a tequila shot. Could you, more experienced forum members please help me out to understand events which took place yesterday.

Before I continue my story, here’s a little background: I have been in Thailand once before but I’m very inexperienced with barfining a lady. I have tried to do my "homework" and study this excelled forum, but somehow "the real field" situation is quite much different thing. At least for me.

Well, s**t happens so everything should be OK now. However when I’m now thinking about those event in last night, there are still 2 things which bother me a bit.

First the lady left the bar with her bar clothes on. Since the ladies in that bar wear nice evening dresses, I thought that was a bit unusual. However after the shower she came to bed wearing normal clothes (typical t-shirt and shorts). I can’t help myself of thinking that the reason why she wore her work dress during the way to my hotel, is because she wanted to make sure that she had something clean enough when going to bed. Should I go back and try to find out the story behind her behaviour or am I just wasting my time in trying to understand what is going on in barlady’s mind?

L*’s was as excelled place as I was told and I like to stress out that I’m NOT trying to blame the bar in any way.

Just back from a few days in Bangkok, tacked onto another trip. Stayed at the Golden Palace hotel, www.goldenpalacehotel.com/ (Soi 1 just of Sukumvit Road). Don't bother with the more expensive rooms, the 1100 Baht ones are the same. Its basic, but it is cheap, clean, has a pool for lounging around and is very accessible to airport and the Sukumvit Road strip. Lunches are better at the hotel next door. Toast and coffee for breakfast is 80 baht. i never had supper there.

Tried Eden Club, the the 2 girl place, which is a 5 or so minute walk away (leave Goldnen Palace, turn right, walk to Sukumvit Road, turn left, 5 minute walk and its on your left down soi 7 or 11 I think - you'll see it. Frankly, it wasn't that great but then I'd just had a heavy travel day so maybe me. 2 girls is mandatory (you can't pick just one), yellow line.... a net search will reveal all! If you go to Eden, try and take 5 minutes or preferably more to acclimatize. The girls I got were OK looking, but I think I could have got better if I'd taken longer to acclimatize.

But then I just tried a little side street (leave the Golden Palace hotel, walk towards Sukumvit Road for 1-2 minutes and its the first turn on your right, look down the turn and you'll see a bunch of girls sitting outside playing cards or whatever) and completely different experience, more relaxed, no pressure, more keen girl, and got a good massage and my brains f*ed out for 1500. Have a shower or swim in the pool in the Golden Palace, then walk wet into the massage place, upstairs, just take all your clothes off and lie down for a good massage; the rest just follows without much discussion. Repeated again the next day, and of course then had to fly back.

So I'd say try the small side streets a little bit off Sukumvit where they get less customers and there is less pressure to turn you around and where they want repeat customers. There were lots of girls at this place on the side street, yeah a bit older than the ones on Sukumvit but the place had a way better vibe about it.

Cabs from airport: only take a metered one and tell them you will pay toll highway. Basic fare this way to the Golden Palace is 300 Baht plus a 100 Baht or so for the toll roads and you'll be at the hotel in less than 30 minutes without any drama (the hotel is close to a toll highway exit).

Was in Spasso (Grand Hyatt Erawan) last night and saw some really nice stunners, which I know even Mick Licker will approve. They were sexy, good cleavage and even better dancers.

O.K. Tuesday is a quiet night and she might have been desperate. But pics to prove the "stunner" assertion would help. I certainly know stunning girls that would NOT go for these prices. A good looking 'cowboy' girl may never go with less then 2000, but settlement from a 3000 quote to a 2500 and then sometimes 2000 is always possible.

Your negotiation style may be a bit impolite as I assume, reading that the girls even refuse to negotiate the price. This never happens to me, however I am also polite in negotiating and fighting too much just throwing numbers around will not increase later performance. There is an intelligent way of negotiating w/o hurting each other.

If you counter her 3000 offer with: '1500 and no baht more or fuck yourself' she will know that you may be one of the troublesome cheep charlies anyhow and isn't interested even if it hurts her income.
The wording of your post says a lot about your attitude towards the Thai Females. And it obviously doesn't pay off. For your 1500 you may occasionally get, a girl, but all she does is trying to escape asap after the deed.

1. Be patient. Just because she won't go with you tonight at that price doesn't mean she won't go with you in a few days (or weeks) time. Try and establish some kind of relationship with the girl so she knows you when you enter the bar. Buy her a few drinks. Don't go on a weekend when tons of tourists and businessmen will be there who will pay the price she's asking. It also helps to go at the end of the month when the rent is due and she's overspent her salary.

2. It helps to speak a little bit of Thai. I do speak a little bit of conversational Thai (although minimal), and it goes a long way. It also proves that you're not a tourist.

3. Know her town. This seems silly, but when you ask her where she's from, and she says "Udonthani", know where that is, and that it's close to the Laos border and Nong Khai (this usually impresses them for some reason).

4. Be polite. Goes without saying. Smile a lot, even if it's clear things aren't going your way. It's the whole "Mai Bpen Rai" attitude. If she refuses your price, just smile and say "okay...up to you". If she doesn't want to go with me for the price I'm willing to pay, that's fine. I can wait until low season or when there are a lack of customers in the bar.

5. Don't look like a tourist. What I mean is, don't go in there wearing sandals and shorts sporting a 5 o'clock shadow. I've even seen some dudes who bring their huge backpacks into a go-go.

In my experience, this works for me. I've learned to be patient. If you're a tourist and have limited time, then go ahead and pay the inflated prices. Also, I found that a girl absolutely refuses to negotiate, then she's "ATMed up the ass" (as people say) or has been hardened by the bar too much. I find these girls are usually crap in bed anyway, so I won't bother pursuing it.
