I think its a pompous ass Americanism meaning the loud, belching, shaven headed, multi-tattooed, beer gutted species of humanity, usually British, that descend on Pattaya in their heathen hordes, in ever increasing numbers, each year. May be wrong though!!

That wasn't what I had in mind when I used the term "Euro Trash." But it will work.

My wife thinks "Euro Trash" means people who can afford to vacation in Thailand, but can't afford to go to the dentist.

I don't have a definitation for Euro Trash. I just know it when I see it.

I use to see a lot of it in Russia and East Europe. What I describe as newly rich, wearing cheap clothes, rude, with no class, taste, education or manners. Just money to throw around demanding service and treating people like servants.

That's just my opinion, others are welcome.

BTW, we have a similiar class of people in the U.S. My family was usually referred to "white trash" because we took the wheels off our house every time we had to move, had perfectly good cars up on blocks in the front yard and major appliances on the front porch.

After I walked back up to Nana, and my rousing round with May, I was tired and hungry so I went to the McDonalds before heading all the way up to Nanatai Mansion. Okay ...... Let's start from the top .....
"Loud" - nope, not me, I think
"Belching" - yep, can't help it, it's the beer mostly, but I do think I'm discrete about it
"shaven headed" - yep, no denying that one
"beer gutted species of humanity" - bugger, that's me to a tee, unfortunately - okay, I'll work on reducing that
"usually British" - usually, by birth, I am, can't get away from it

I could maybe be classed as a heathen as I don't worship any faith and have descended on Pattaya each of the last two years and, despite my reservations will probably visit there as a wing-man in March 09

Despite all the above logical argument, I don't consider myself Eurotrash but I do empathise with the intent of the definition. Maybe needs something in there about Union Flag shorts and sleeveless T if being applied to Brits only.

There is stuff I could say following my last visit to Pattaya regarding observations of the tourist milieu but I would not like to be drawn into comments about nationalities or the like. But, there are some predominant expat nationalities in Pattaya that do push my personal levels of tolerance.

Nuff said as far as I'm concerned.

Cannot imagine he meant the true definition of 'eurotrash'. Do you find many 'slick, greasy, cologned Continentals' in Pattaya? Maybe you do but its not their normal habitat. Chavs are Burberry'd, blinged, Essex sink estate yobbo's so I think yobs is his more likely meaning. Except Yob (backward boy) is a uniquely British word which he probably doesn't use. Its nearest American equivalent is likely to be 'trailer trash'. Maybe that is the word he meant to use but didn't want to imply that low class Americans frequent Pattaya (God forbid!!).

There are some places that don't allow tank tops shorts and sandals in bkk. Skybar is one place that comes to mind.

Thats may be why I like Pattaya better I just have spent more time there and have explored it more.

Too right but don't just go to to the airport(BKK) (sorry LOL) Bangkok how about exploring more may be Chang Mai, Phuket or Koh Samui.

As far as I know, there is no dress code in BKK that is any different than Pattaya. I was refering to particular up-scale gentlemens clubs where proper attire is mandatory.

I just don't like Pattaya, nothing more, nothing less. Other people love it and that's fine. It's just personal preference. I know BKK better that I do Pattaya because of the amount of time I have spent here so that probably makes the difference.

Just my opinion, and opinions are like assholes. We all have them and they all smell the same. I first went to Pattaya in 1973 on R&R and I remember it as a sleepy little fishing village with only one paved road. To see what it has become in the last 35 years disgusts me. It's not the girls, or the bars or anything such as that. I think what turns me off the most about Pattaya is what I can best describe as "Euro trash." Not that there is much difference from the regular "trash" on finds in BKK.

I can understand from where you are comming from you would like it to be the sleepy fishing village but hey places change soon for better some for worse.
