Yeah but the problem is, I think it's a really good bar!! Really good looking girls IMO and the glass floor with pantiless schoolgirl dancing above does it for me!! :-) Apart from Rainbow X in Nanna, I dont think many bars in Bangkok measure up to it (pattaya is a different story altogether). Maybe I'll just get my kicks there and then go find a cheaper girl elsewhere!!

One of the good things (or bad depending on how you like these things) is that I have never been hassled by girls, mamassans or serving girls to buy drinks or barfine someone, unlike a lot of bars in Cowboy. Maybe it's that they are concentrating on the mostly Jap clientele!?

Not sure how long this recent crackdown will last, but I've ran into it at Spice Club on Soi 11 on Thursday and Friday nights (or, rather Friday and Saturday mornings). Both times, the police made their round after 2am and informed all the bars around Soi 11 to close up promptly (Q Bar, BedSupperClub, Twisted, Spice, Hillary, etc...). So, depending on where he started, some closed at 2, while others at 2:30.

I chatted with one of the managers at Spice Club, and he informed me that there was a fight or two in one of the disco/nite clubs in the area earlier in the week, thus, the hammer coming down on all.

Anyway, this has put a cramp on picking up FL's (spilled over from Soi 7 BG, Thermae, Angels, or Gulliver's) or hitting on off-duty BG's and Go-Go Girls from Nana and Soi Cowboy. I had the manager called the other after-hour club, Spicy Pub at Rongmuang Soi 1. It also shutdown early. Great. So, does anyone else have any suggestion on any decent after-hour places with pick-up opportunities?

And, no, the sidewalk bars and vendors are not my idea of enjoying a cold one with AC and wiggling sexy bodies.

BTW, average prices are around 1500-2000 ST, 3000-4000LT, from Nana, Soi Cowboy, and Thermae. Haven't bother to ask the standing FL's between Soi 5 and 19; walking too fast to avoid any LB's, beggars, and pickpockets.

Well, I have been here for 20 years, and find it just as it ever was, no, make that better now, just so much more choice and diversity.

You really cannot make an informed comment on Bangkok on a few nights or a single night experience. In every city in the world you get good ones and bad ones. And if you go with a bad one you think the place is crap, and if you go with a good one you think its a wonderful paradise.

No, I would say go out, spend 100 nights and taking in 200 girls (thats only 2 a day), from all the various levels of potential activities and places, and then make a judgement call.

I just love the diversity, want an escort, phone one. Want a freelancer then go to one of the many freelancer bars or the streets. Want a beer bar girl, off you go to a beer bar. Want a gogo girl, off you go to a gogo, want a G-Club girl, go to a G Club, want a nice massage, off you go, want a wild time, Eden, Tulip and many others can fulfl your needs, want to pick up some non professionals, spend some time on the internet on Tagged or Hi5 or Camfrog etc.

There is just so much choice and variety, I really would not say its worse.....for me, as a long term, its far far better now !!

My partner was actually fighting with his poor choice when he go to his room. What the fuck.

Guys this is no longer the Tahiland I used to live to visit this place but it is headed in the wrong direction.

To be ballanced good massages straight and the usual trip to eden was a 7 of 10.

Not sure what we can do to solve this but I am not overpaying for sure.

Wednesday Night

Set off around 5 pm for my, now regular walk from Soi 33 to Nana, taking in an early stroll through Cowboy on the way and then on into the Beer Garden for a cold one. Sat chatting with a guy who has lived here for a few years, but still can’t get enough of the ‘’Entertainment’’ on offer. Despite being here long term, he hasn’t yet succumbed to life with a regular girl and likes the variety.

After a couple of beers I continued on into Nana, finding a perch at Lucky Lukes, opposite Big Dogs. It is a great spot to watch the girls and boys arriving for work, one can often spot a cutie then have fun hunting her down in the various bars. I had seen a sexy bar-girl in Lukes, a few nights ago and she was here again, sitting at the entrance with the other girls. I offered her a drink and found she spoke very good English as we chatted away, this girl also liked to watch the ‘staff’ passing by on their way to work too. She asked me if I went to any other bars around and we discussed the good ones, her favourite was Absolute 7 Bar on Soi 7/1, I had also heard it was supposed to be good, so I barfined her (600 Baht) and off we went.

We had a great time in Absolute 7, live music, excellent bands and drinks not too pricy either. The place was full of available pussy; I noticed that most inhabitants of the Beer Garden could now be found here. Plus Wednesday is called ‘Ladies Night’ and the girls can get a beer for 50 Baht all night – hence the popularity of the bar. If I hadn’t already been with a half-decent looker I am sure I wouldn’t have been alone for long either, the girls outnumbered the guys by about 3 to 1.

Closing time came around all too soon and I was off back to the hotel with my, now quite drunk, girl. Stripping for the shower I noted she was fully shaven, most Thai girls don’t seem to do much more than trim, so I asked her about it. Apparently her previous long term boyfriend a Swiss guy had wanted her like it and now she preferred it that way, saying it was good for ‘easy maintenance’ too. I began to wonder how this guy had actually treated her when she asked me for permission to come during the first round, being the nice guy that I am, I of course allowed it

In fact I have become somewhat boring with this girl as I took her shoe shopping in MBK, just like before, and then back to Livingstones for a very nice dinner by the pool, followed by yet another night at Absolute 7 bar. I have to recommend it for music and girls, so good and so easy too.

At the moment the girl is lying asleep, her tiny form barely visible in the huge bed and I am considering what to do with her today. She may also like the Pool Party tonight at the Lodge too, we will see.

It's understandable they'd do this. A bar survives on selling booze, not barfines................

Remember, if high barfines discourage customers from taking girls away early in the evening, then the policy has been successful.

The practice is understandable, but doesnt really have to be tolerated. I have been to Baccara a few times now, and have always enjoyed a few rounds of drinks - why not, the show is pretty good anyway.

I have long time barfined a girl from JOY Bar directly opposite Baccara, on more than one occasion.

I will go in, buy one drink for me and her, pay the Barfine and we leave - simple as that. Yesterday I wanted to keep her for another night, so we dropped by the bar on our way to another and I gave the Mamasan the 500 Baht - never even bought a drink. Tonight I will probably do the same as she is good to keep for a while.

I never had any complaints from her Mamasan who seems happy with the 500 and is really pleased that I am happy with her girl. So some bars dont have such restrictive policies and IMHO guys who dont like it need to find one.

Does anyone have any other examples of bars that have this policy?

There was a bar in the south of Thai that you could BF the girl then she'd come over after work stopped... 1 am... 2 am... 3 am... whenever the bar closed down... Walked across the street got a lady and left in 5 minutes. But damn that one at the other bar is still in my memory....

Just found out tonite that you can not barfine the girl that strikes your fancy in Bacara on Soi Cowboy before 10pm, if she is scheduled to take part in the show that nite, which means that quite some of their better looking bgs can't be barfined before 10.

They also have that other stupid rule that you need to pay 2 Lady drinks before you can barfine at any time of the nite....

Bacara is also one of the last bars on SC where patrons can still smoke (on the 1st floor)

The shows attract hordes of customers and if there aren't a lot of nice-looking girls in the shows, those customers won't be back. Fifty or 100 guys buying booze for themselves and BGs yields a lot more profit than the 2,000 baht or so the bar would make on the barfines for its five top girls. Without a profit, the bar can't stay in business.

Same logic applies to the "two drinks first" rule. They don't want the bar to be reduced to a take-away joint for girls. That's been the practice, if not the rule, at Bacarra for awhile. I have a friend in NYC who's regular TG danced at Baccara. He asked me to barfine her one night while I was in BKK last November. My TG and I then took her to dinner and his girl got to go home early that night. The Bacarra lady told me it was best if all of us had a round of drinks there first and that I buy at least one drink for the mamasan - otherwise, the girl said, she'd "get trouble."

That's also why many Pattaya bars and gogos double or triple barfines during high season and why some places always have substantially different "before midnight" and "after midnight" rates. If most of the girls are barfined early, there's nothing to hold the attention of late-night customers that are usually the heaviest drinkers. Even Livingstones uses that model - the barfine drops the later it gets.

Remember, if high barfines discourage customers from taking girls away early in the evening, then the policy has been successful.

Guess I've either been lucky or been drunk after midnight. :-) Would be useful if we could compile a list like ML's list of MPs on barfine policies of Gogos in Bangkok and Pattaya.

I know that "Keeping Schtumm" is used by many in the East End etc., whether Jewish or not. So, I was just curious. I'm not Jewish, but certainly heard this expression more than a few times from my ex who was a London Jew, and from Hackney.

Miss J's little restaurant is going quite O.K. but she and I returned to Suzi Wong where she finished work 2 months ago. I am one of the few old customers to receive her new phone number. She used to be the top dancer in the place (not much competition) so she was a little itchy to dance to her favourite songs, mostly hip hop.

Mis JJ showed off her gold ring with a heart that her mum bought for her (Mom is in England). And then showed a very small gold braclet (quite conservative) that "Mick" bought for her. Hey I didn't anything about it. But apparently was from money collected from me after a previous multi-night booking.
So if she has not had to hock the gold, then her restaurant must be truelly doing O.K.

She had 2 bottles of tequila for the ladies and another bottle of whiskey for the boss lady. I wasn't that keen to play the ping pong balls as the girl gets only 50% of the 20 baht for each ball collected.

By coincidence one of the new girls dancing at SW, Miss J recognised as a customer at her restaurant. BKK is a very small place. LOL Both are in the same Ratchada district.

Changed some money and Miss J handed out 20 baht tips to all dancing girls and all inside staff instead.
Miss J and I wanted to stay sober so we only had 1 tequila each. but the party started to get lively when the shows commenced. Many girls were getting a bit drunk and giggly by this time.

Miss Bo was busy with another customer tonight. Miss Ying sat with us for a while but was quite unwell from the start (not from tequilas) so we bar-fined her and sent her home to bed. These were my two "twins" from the previous night.

I took Miss J home to my room after the Lesbian show before 11PM.
