I've read the mentioning of a high and low season. I'm assuming this coincides with the weather patterns and we are now into a low season. Is this correct? When does the high season start and end? I'm assuming there may be some benefit in visiting during the low season. Availability and prices.

High season starts about now, Thanksgiving time. Low season starts mid - late March.

Beer is super cheap in Pattaya, You can drink hinekin for 35 - 40 baht a bottle on Soi 7 all day / night

For the girl ST 500 - 1000 LT 1000 - 1500 is typical. Price will vary depending on your skills and her skills. Girls in a GOGO will ask double that but pussy is same same or worse

As to the report you refer it did nothing but ask newbie questions that have been addressed hundreds of times before and all the author had to do was search the forum for the answers. At least no one was rude enough to suggest that he RTFF.

Hmmm, no, I think I'm going to have say you are wrong about that. Many of my posts have been quite worthy of shouts of "RTFF!!" and I have been rather surprised that I have not been snarled at in such a manner. My own report that received a ROD suggestion was actually my first REAL report, and detailed a quite disappointing experience. I assumed that perhaps the reason my report received such a suggestion was because I gave actual details and because my writing seems to have some grasp of English grammar and spelling.

But of course, since you have contributed more reports than I, I will defer to your opinion. As I said, I could be wrong.

The reports of distinction recommendations appear to be automatically generated for new posters. (Maybe a marketing ploy by Jackson to get them to buy a membership). I´ll ask him next week.

That concept makes sense, but the name-dropping robs it of all credibility.

See, personally, I seek these forums to learn more about the hobby from respected and seasoned pros like you two. The curmudgeonly griping, though, gives the impression that the real problem is jealousy that a private club has been infiltrated by undeserving upstarts.

Again, with my pitiful double-digit posting, I am certain I have no reason to voice an opinion. Plus, since my posts (and those complaining about ROD suggestions) have less to do with Bangkok reports and more to do with site administration, I'll let that rest here.

Are you, like me tired of all the whining and wimpering about the rise in prices? What do people expect? - that Thailand stay in some time warp? Costs are up for everything here and this even, G_d forbid trickles down to P4P. A good indicator of the reality, for example is something as basic as gasoline which was 9B/litre in 1997 and now is 30+. Ya, I remember when barfines were 300 and BGs, even from Nana would go LT for 1000. But, inflation and market forces hit everthing.

Deal with it, guys or go somewhere else!

Just a thought on the reported cost of girls in Bangkok. I am not sure of the motivation but I am not sure why guys post on here that they can get girls from the go go bars for 1, 000THB short time. This may be possible with the ugly less popular girls but I can guarentee you will not get a hottie out of a bar for less than 1, 500THB (unless they have known you for a long time and you are short on cash and they expect it to be made up next time round etc etc). Newbies, do not believe it when you read reports of go go bar girls going for 1, 000THB. For a hottie you need to be thinking 2, 000THB (although if you buy the mamasan a few drinks she may get it down to 1, 500THB but the drinks would cost you the 500THB difference anyway).

Most people I know who have been here for a while prefer the freelancer scene which is almost always 1, 500THB for a short time or 1, 000THB if they are keen to make some money.

Even more ridiculous is the stories you read where guys say they were so good in bed that the girl refused payment. This is absolute nonsense.

Cambodia's still cheap, and I hear that Bangladesh and Somalia are even cheaper. Of course, infrastructure's not that great, and you might have to deal with the occassional Cholera epidemic.

Cost of living goes up, that's Life. However, I agree that newbies, Japanese and Chinese have artifically inflated some of the prices in BKK.

With all due respect, and realizing I am a newbie, it would seem that RODs are based on the moderator's opinion. One of my very first posts received an ROD suggestion, and I gladly posted in the ROD thread. The ROD instruction page states repeatedly that this is truly subjective and not a reward to the author.

While I agree that several reports that receive an ROD suggestion are not necessarily the most helpful or even best written, I personally try to follow ROD rule number 7.

7. If you don't like a report that has an ROD Link, just let it go.

However, in the words of the great Penn Jillette, I could be wrong.

Ok, I've picked up the street girls in Chinatown, but I've never seen anything that looked like an actual brothel. And there are Indian brothels? Please, tell me more! Are they cheap? Would they admit a white? I wonder if Indian men hold the line on sai-toongs?

Just ask around and you'll find them. I haven't been to them in years - too depressing. Although, I know aquaintenances who like to live dangerously, and still go to these places. I warn you though that the girls are quite unpleasant and not exactly stunning. There are similar places in Chiang Mai, as well, if you like places that have girls who are indentured sex-slaves - might be right up your alley.

While it's been predicted for years, both Nana and Cowboy are going to be gone relatively soon. In 10 years, they will be but a memory. With the huge development rising fast at the corner of Asoke, the very upmarket nature of the area, now and the associated rise in the value of land, having a little ramshackle street of 4 storey shop-houses involved in a nefarious trade such as Cowboy is not consistent with the whole environment of the area.

As far as building appearances go that may be so, but what is consistent with the environment of the area is that it is just one big brothel. So even if the old structures where NEP and Cowboy are were demolished, this would probably result in them being rebuilt with bigger and better accomodations of the same name and for the same purpose.

Others can answer this better, but as I understand it in BKK we are now approaching the high season when tourism will be up and the weather the most cool and best of the year. I assume it is called high season because the numbers of farangs, that is, foreigners, is on the rise. I read somewhere of the high season in Pattaya being from November to March, and I think BKK must be quite similar. With a number of hotels and ladies this will mean charging more and less availability. But also more meat in town for rent.

From listening to all this stuff about BKK getting too pricey, I need to get there fast. But the question does pop up, where is the next BKK? Is there a place that reminds you old timers (I mean, men of wisdom) of the way BKK used to be?
