While negotiating taxi inside the airport an old guy came acting to find me a cab. Pulled out a paper asked my name, hotel, wrote down without saying anything. I tought for taxi purpose but turned out another scammer tourist guide trying catch me. He going to call my hotel.

When outside avoiding the touts who were asking for 700 bht. Stood in the metered taxi line. Ride was nice only the cab driver got confused about the direction, when in sio 5 and gave a tour of soi 5, 7, 3 etc. Finally on my talk he came back to sukhumvit and I showed him the hotel. May be it was international on his part trying to take me for a sucker ride.

Anyway to total expense. 235 (meter)+50 (service charge) +65 (toll)= 350. Could be easily done for less than 300 without the direction loss.

Went for walk found some, Alex club not many looker at 4:00 am. Asked Coke. Asked the price, she pointed 1 finger. I tough WTF it can't be 1 bht, must be 10 bht. I puled out 20 bht bill and handed her and she looked at me well dressed gentleman and cracked up. Said. 100 bht. So I paid. My funny game is already working; ) NOT MANY looker. Most of <5.

Walked outside lots of ladies asking "ready? ", I know what they meant; ) Since tired, body aching and last but not the lease little johnny sleeping. Don't want to bring strange little beauties at home and scare him and mess his sleep. He get little cranky when he is sleep deprived.

Arrived in Bangkok today. After an early evening session I went for a beer first at Soi Cowboy, then at Patpong. Being exhausted from my flight and the session, I did not take anyone from either place. However, from just watching I found the quality much, much higher at Patpong than at Cowboy. Now I noticed that everyone in this forum is always writing about Nana or Soi Cowboy, no one ever talks about Patpong. Is there a reason for this? Something wrong with Patpong?

The reason we don't discuss Patpong is because it's for tourists who don't know any better than to go there on their first night in BKK. Full of rip-off joints, touts, and everything is over-priced. A mear shadow of its self of its heyday during the Vietnam way and now mostly a night market for knock off goods.

Radio City Music Hall is the one exception, but it's for the Elvis and Tom Jones impersonators not to pick up girls. Although it can be done. Star of Light is ok if you like the BJ bars (which I don't). Other than these places I don't know of any other reason to go to Patpong.

Well, at today's prices it's about 2000, so twenty fold increase over 25 years, or roughly 13% increase per annum compounded, not unlike housing costs ! The proper test is the ratio between the gross adult male wage and a LT - I was not born in 1972 so I don't know what the wages were.

In November 2007 the exchange rate is 31 baht to 1 USD. So assuming wages of $US1k per week, at today's rate, that equates to $US 64.50 or 6% of a weeks wages. Has this gone up or down ?

It's complicated because Bush has destroyed the US currency (and a lot of other things) that has lost a quarter of its value in the last three years. Bush has increased the cost of Bush ! Many girls are making seriously good money by Thai standards, more than doctors and professionals. The uglier ones less so.

The only suggestion is have a longer term g/f (for a few days) to lower the cost per blow job/screw - if they know you it can be cheaper. The girls I know are happy i want to be sucked and am done in 30 minutes = 400B, not chat, leave the bar, zip and suck. I am more relaxed about possible STDs than you, but I guess it might be different if my wife was waiting for me back at the hotel (how did you manage that?). Also I am quite happy to walk away if no-one takes my fancy. As a result I have had a few great experiences at Annie's, and walked away quite a few times. Not sure I would want time with a 43-year old lady, although I accept they are often more talented than younger girls.

Fortunately, Bangkok is a great shopping city, and my wife and I both hate it when we shop together (married guys - you all know what I mean, right?). This provides the perfect way for me to get away for a "traditional Thai massage", or so she thinks.

I was initially worried about coming back smelling all clean and bubble bathy. However, I've found that while I do smell a bit like that after a session, a quick walk through Bangkok's heat and pollution gets me nice and sweaty and grimy again, which provides a good cover.

Not yet. Chitlom kept me happy this time around. However, on the next trip I would perhaps venture out there.

Now I just have to figure out whether anything similar can be found in N. America (never mind the price difference). From reading the forums, my gut feel is that while services are available, they will not compare well against my BKK experiences. I'd love to learn I'm wrong.

Great report, and interesting to follow your learning curve! I guess we have all been through the same thing.

I fully agree with your comments about the importance of having fun with the girls, and not just going through the mechanical bit. It's what makes BKK girls special. My indoctrination into the dark side is far from complete, but what a fantastic time I had. I hope whoever is reading this can put some of this information to use, and have a great time in BKK. TO end off, I'll add this:

As a customer, I bore ultimate responsibility for getting what I wanted. In those cases where I didn't, I was still able to have a good time, but I voted with my feet (ie: didn't come back to same girl or place).

I also had my limits as to what I wanted to do or what I wanted the girl to do. In my case, this was really a health issue. If there were no STD's, I'd be in there like a shot with DATY, bum licking, and bareback everything. But for me, that's not a reality. My limits evolved during the trip as I became more knowledgable.
