Now back to the embassy situation. Yes, of course many Thai P4P pros seek the social protection of western societies, as Thailand provides none. In that sense they are simply economic nomads. No different from thousands of Mexicans crossing the border to the US daily or Africans getting washed up on the shores of Malta. I.e. money for nothing...

I cannot see any reason why any government should let these people in. Truth is Thai sex pro's end up doing overseas exactly what they doing here, screwing for money.

However the presence of these girls at the embassies is disturbing, to an extend that a number of Thai's think twice of applying for visas. Recently I spend quiet some time at one particular embassy, hence my observation. I then talked to Thai friends and yes, they do confirm this.

Ah, thanks. I maintain that this particular 2.3% of the GDP would represent a far greater gain to the working class that a lot of the rest of it due to the v low economic and educational barriers to entering the industry.

Does anyone know if any of the private clubs like Pegasus or Soprano House are worth it? A friend of mine is a member of the Soprano House and it is definitely a cool place to hang out. The girls are the hottest. However, I do not know if they are "available". Does anyone have any experience? Is it worth the 30,000 baht annual fee?

I was a member for years and considered it the best money I spent in Thailand. Since I don't hang out in the tourist areas, I needed some place to go and relax and "monger" without attracting any attention and the little lady not finding out about my activities.


Plan dropping at least a hundred bucks per visit.

This is an illusion.

In fact, sex tourism is a very minor part of overall tourism here. If the foreign sex industry stopped tomorrow, it wouldn't have nearly as much impact as you think. The very public foreign sex industry is a very tiny portion of the overall sex industry in this country. The Thai-oriented industry is huge, and mostly hidden. Most people working at Nana or wherever would simply find there way into the Thai sex industry. When the government talks about getting rid of prostitution, cleaning up Pattaya or whatever, they're just talking about the foreign prostitution industry because its visibility is an embarassment to the country. The Thai industry, largely because it's owned by the power elite will never disappear. But, it doesn't need to because it is very Thai: hidden and discreet...not blaring, glaring, loud and crude like the foreign industry.

Yep, I was aware of all that, with the exception of the stuff about not having much of an impact/this is an illusion - can you cite sources?

The bulk of the prostitution has little or no effect on the macroeconomics of Thailand as you say, simply because it is Thai - Thai based and money is simply circulating around within the economy, no more is being put in and none is being taken out... so, for the purposes of Thai economics, we can ignore local prostitution (apart from some internal wealth redistribution).

Foreign prostitution was what I was talking about as it directly injects money into the Thai economy.

OK, onto the numbers, and before we start, let me warn you that numbers marked with a * are simply my wild speculation, the rest, I dug around for, then took an informal average - 65% of foreign visitors to Thailand are men, so 15% of visitors men are there sans partner.

Let's be generous and say only half of these are mongers - 7.5%*. Now, around 6% of the Thai economy is tourism. So, 7.5% of 6% is around half a percent.... but you are forgetting (I knew you'd forget!) that single men have a per capita spending capacity that is a lot higher than the average family traveling tourist - let's say double* which I think is conservative.

So, just from my deliberately conservative numbers, we've got almost 1% of the Thai GDP contributed by sex tourism (which is a fucking big number*).

But it doesn't stop there. What is impossible to calculate is:

How many regular couples come to Thailand for the sex industry (either to participate directly, or for that holiday sense of the risque by seeing a show), and how many of them would go somewhere else if the sex industry weren't there.

How much business is conducted in Thailand rather then elsewhere because men who can afford prostitutes, on the whole the only demographic with the financial authority to determine where what happens, because they have been here because of the naughty nightlife.

Last point... this 1% actually employs a much larger percentage of the population that other 1%s do (bear with me). Just about every other industry has a higher financial barrier to entry, so, people with money will 'create' the opportunities and syphon off money for themselves. Prostitution has no such barriers, so, every baht paid is directly to the employee with no middleman. More money paid directly to employees = more employees for lower cost.

So, all this 'significant/insignificant' part of the economy stuff comes down to your definition of significant. I'd consider a 1% increase in unemployment to be pretty massively significant. Given that my numbers are conservative and I could be waaaaay out, it might even be as much as 3% which is a HUGE number. Remember, none of this includes 'knock on' money for the advertising/exposure/whatever you call it that Thailand gets from the sex industry.

My figures do not include business travellers who play whilst away from home, nor expats - both of which are groups which would inflate the argument I am making even further.

Before Bangkok my friend and I went to Pattaya. I have been there once before and for some reason I just can’t get into the place. There are some nice bargirls but so many of them go so hard for the drink hustle that its kind of a drag. The go-gos were pretty good but the girls don’t seem as friendly as in Bangkok, less eye contact and flirting from the stage. I also found the hotness level a little lower overall in Pattaya. I visited Dream Teen massage even though I have heard mixed reports about the place. A couple of real hotties work there and I found the service to be good albeit mechanical. On the last night we hit Marine Disco and that place was pretty fun. I wanted to go back to one of the Sabai’s but didn’t make it. But after my trip to BKK I don’t know if I will ever bother going back to Pattaya.

In Bangkok after checking in I headed straight for Sanzanka for the full treatment. I knew where to go because of Giotto’s great massage review post, located in reports of distinction I think. I found the scrub and massage to be excellent but the HJ didn’t blow my mind like it does for some others, and the girl wasn’t that hot (but I was expecting this). I returned to Sanzanka one more time and it was good but not mind blowing.

I went to Akane twice both times with Manami (SP? ). The first time was amazing, Manami was a blast and very good at her job. She was singing in Thai to me the whole time and her whole vibe was refreshing and great. The second time wasn’t quite as good as the first but excellent nonetheless. For this place I would suggest getting there early because I have a feeling the ladies get snatched up quick.

I visited Angel Massage once and went with Cherry. OK session, but mechanical. Very pretty lady and friendly but just going through the motions. I don’t expect anything more from these girls, they have a very demanding job. But some are very skilled at making it seem not very mechanical like Manami from Akane she is a true talent!

I wanted to get a lot soapies during this trip but I only ended up getting one. I went to Nataree, because I heard they are one of the few using the mattress and because of their close proximity to the MRT station. There are two doors at Nataree and I first walked into the far one and saw a disappointing fishbowl, and the papasan said only oil massage no soapy! I told him I was surprised and he didn’t tell me about the other entrance. I left and saw the other entrance and went in. It was like a café with booths and a fairly well-stocked fishbowl. There seemed to be quite a few sideliners sitting around all being very friendly. The papasan explained that the sideliners don’t do soapy ‘only sex’. I picked a stunner from the fishbowl who seemed real friendly. She was gorgeous and good at the soapy part. The sex was good but mechanical, but damn she was hot! I have always found soapy sex to be mechanical. I just don’t think there is enough rapport built up in a fishbowl situation. At least at go-gos you can look and flirt and determine if the girl actually has a tiny bit of interest apart from money. Overall I would recommend Nataree because it is well stocked with stunners and you can take the train and don’t have to worry about dealing with taxi surcharge BS.

I spent a few nights the Rainbows (1 &4) in Nana. I found a lot of the ladies very friendly even though I have heard of their preference for Japanese customers. A lot of smiles from the stage. I took one from R4 named Tiki (Sp? ) up to one of the short time rooms in Nana (which weren’t as bad as I thought they would be). I paid 2000B because I didn’t bargain, I know, I know, I’m a push over but I have problems bargaining with beautiful ladies. She offered LT which I kind of regret not taking, because it would have been nice to have her in my hotel for the night. She was great, you can tell a lot of these girls are watching Jap porn because of the way they sqeal etc.

On another night in R1 had many incredible beauties smiling and making eye contact but I didn’t have enough power to go for it due to visits to Sanzanka and Nataree earlier. At that point I made a mental note to not waste power during the day on not-so-hot situations (ie Sanzanka) because there are so many stunners available in this town at night. If I was living here or on a longer trip then I wouldn’t feel the need to maximize my time like this.

On my final visit to R1 I pulled a not so hot dancer for a short time. She started to stroking me under the table and I kind of lost my head. Nice body but with so many ladies available in that place I wouldn’t have chosen her if she hadn’t been so good at the hard sell. I am learning that these go-gos require discipline! Whenever I make mistakes like that I just want to get it over with so I went very short time with her upstairs and got out of Nana, I guess I’m still a newbie.

I went out clubbing with a friend of mine who has lived here for many years. He was surprised I knew more about Bangkok ‘entertainment’ than him (Thanks ISG). After going to Bed Supperclub etc. And some other boring places we hit some sleazy after hours starting with Tunnel. I have heard great things about this place but the night we went it was a bit of a sausage party. I had one young hottie grinding against me on the dance floor but she was too hopped up on Yaba and I thought she was going to chew her bottom lip off so I avoided. I have heard Tunnel is good on weekdays and starts going around 1am, not many cabbies know it though. It’s a fairly nice club with good music and a good dance floor.

After Tunnel we hit Spicy at about 4am. Spicy wasn’t so good that night but I went few nights later and there were lot of hot FL’s (or that’s what they appeared to be). Spicy s a bit of a S***hole with linoleum floors and crappy black lights, the music is hip hop which I don’t love but it is pretty much impossible not to get laid in this place and it goes until 6am. We had problems finding cabbies who know this place too, also note that this is NOT Spice Club on Suk Soi 11.

I agree with you regarding Pattaya. I can't get into it either. The scene seems a little too hard core for me. I went there about 18 months ago for a weekend and wound up leaving early and going back to Bangkok.

First I could not find a bar that I enjoyed and felt comfortable in, although I do like the Muai Tai Boxing going on outside of the some of the bars.

I found what I thought was a cutie at one bar. We walked back to my hotel and she was stumbling a little bit. I figured she just had a little too much to drink, no big deal. When we got back to the hotel, and better light, I realized that she was not nearly as pretty as I originally thought. We started playing around, she would not give a BJ at all! I turned over and figured I would nail it later. She fell alseep, woke up about an hour later and PUKED all over the bed! That sucked. I cleaned everything up, as she passed out again, but there was now way to get the smell out of the room.

Could someone comment please on some daytime BJ bars in Bangkok?

I typically stay in the Amari BLV area when I go to Thailand. My thing is Massage places and daytime fun. I can't say I'm a fan of the $$ fishbowl scene, but other more hidden massage places is what I like to find.

I'm looking for great Massage places (minus the fishbowl choice "Cupids type places") for action and good massage.

Plus, what I really want to know is where there are BJ bars? I have been to one in the past, several steets away from Nana. I just walked in, picked a girl, and went upstairs to a curtain booth where had a seat and had some fun. Pretty fast easy fun, I must add, no hassle. Are these places common, if so where?
