I'm going to confirm that ET's reports are accurate as well. Soi 7 would be the place where I'd head to (for those who liked the Gogo scenes at Nana).

I find it very odd how there is no mention of ladyboys working at these horseshoe cluster of beer bars on Soi 7 and at Random. Spot them the first time I walked in. Sorry, but the way he described bars with curtains and people behind them in that first report is simply nothing like what would have been the case if he had turned left off Soi 7 and walked down that passage (not "just to the left" on Soi 7). As I said, there are a couple of empty cubicles with the entrances covered entirely by mesh curtains "just to the left" as you walk in Soi 7. But that is not where the bulk of those Soi 7 collection of bars is. You have to turn left and walk down that passage.

You really only saw about 50 girls and about 20 customers in those Soi 7 bars last Saturday night? My god, what time of night was that? 5pm? Maybe that's why it did not register with me that you were talking about Saturday night and not a much quieter night. There were easily 200+ girls in those Soi 7 bars that Saturday night and maybe 100+ customers.

They were packed with girls again tonight, Friday night. Easily 200+ at 8pm, same as last Friday and Saturday nights. I would say certainly plenty of options between "super hot girls" you seemed to mistakenly think I reported and "yuck" girls your friend might have only seen in the couple of bars ON Soi 7 that time.

It was highlighted in black at the very top of the post as usual. If you really didn't see it or my subsequent characterization of it as a Rumor in at least one other post and not as a News Report from a go-go dancer, you might look into that wellness check you mentioned.

Btw, wasn't December 1st a possible target date for some of these things in "real" news sources referenced and posted by a few members here? Guess those "real" news sources got it about as right as a Rumor from a go-go dancer.

The CCSA held a general meeting chaired by PM Prayut today The official opening of Bars and nightlife venues have been pushed to January 15,2022.

There was rumours it would be November 15, then December 1. Unfortunately opening enterntainment venues does not look likely this year.

Having said this, now that the border is open, there will be more ladies returning to Bangkok. I think the venues to hook up will be very fluid IE will change daily or weekly.

The bars form a horseshow pattern where you enter off soi 7 to the left and there are many more bars etc along sub sois and eventually they lead back out into Soi 7 again. If you did not enter you would not notice that there is quite a lot of bars and women in there.

Since November 1 when quasi restaurants / bars, can serve alcohol again there has been a pick up in activity. Albiet rather muted. Mostly expats getting out for a drink again joined by a few 1000 arrivals. So the numbers are still thin on the ground and activity is very patchy. Some places seem good 1 night and the next night dead again or limping along again.

I went out to Soi 7 one night and it was pumping, then the next night dead. This was a few days after November 1, so I guess many more expats were coming out.

Soi 11 was probably the area that the curtain bars were referred to. There is a bunch of outside eateries half way up Soi 11 on the left which now have 2 rows of curtains out the front of each little row of establishments. There is probably 6 or so in a row. Once you pull back 1 curtain, then enter the second curtain it is just like a normal bar pre covid. These bars have been operating for the last few months and have been quite busy. There has been working girls in there but with their boyfriend rather than having large numbers of free girls on the hunt. I am sure some were available though. The police are always hanging around so are well aware of what is happening and surely directly the brown paper bags to the correct people higher up.

Soi 4 has been open since Nov 01. It is building but without Nana open missing its biggest draw the 20 or so establishments open never seem to be more than 1/3 full at the moment. It is worth a wander through.

Soi 8 has a few new restaurants / bars. Some nights it is quite lively but still nothing special. It is worth dropping by when in lower sukhumwit.

Summary: I have been surprised how some activity has sprung up relatively quickly. It is a mere shadow of pre covid, but way better than seeing these places dark and completely shuttered. If there is not another major covid outbreak these places might look half decent after Christmas. At the moment I would not jump on a plane to come here, but Jan or Feb it might be worth it.

Yes I thought the fellow who wrote that report got the "curtain" bars on Soi 11 confused with what existed on Soi 7 too. But he never responded to my reply and request for clarification about it. So who knows.

I think it is worth pointing out that curtains to "hide" the drinking activity in Soi 11 bars or the way the little passage off Soi 7 is naturally shaped to "hide" the drinking activity back there has nothing to do with preventing the police or boys in brown from knowing all about it. They know all about it.

It has everything to do with preventing it from being so blatantly obvious to even the casual passerby that it makes the authorities in charge look bad for not doing something about it or clearly complicit and supportive of the activity.

Curtains on a well traveled soi like Soi 11 and the little bend down that passage on Soi 7 provide at least some "buffer of deniability" on the issue.

Exactly like the article reads. Plus, on Sunday I was eating at Burger King next to Nana and met an inspector / cop preparing for inspection / raid. I pretended to be a newly arrived tourist and asked him about the rules. He said exactly what I wrote above. I asked him for recommendations to where to hang out and he told me to avoid places that DO NOT have the certificates and look like bars with fly by night BBQ pits outside. And he noted the ones on Soi 7. He said they know everything that goes on. So for expats in BKK who think they are some covert secret society with all this hidden information, that's funny as heck.

In order for the police to collect tea money or raid money, the owners of these shady businesses have to be able to accumulate money in the first place. This is how the war on drugs work and so does the world of corruption. So they let the sales go on until it's time to collect and pay up. And yes, the entire Sukhumvit are their eyes and ears from the viagra and sex toys vendors, beggars, fruit stands, motors taxis and much much more. It's an entire network. So please, don't think by not discussing open bars on sex forum, you are somehow one step ahead of the police here in Thailand and doing everybody a favor. What did people think happened when Lisa on the Beach Bar got raided in Pattaya? That bar was located almost next to the police station. Foreigners got arrested and fined and then the bar reopened up the next night. Mean to tell me owners didn't know and weren't involved? They create this false blanket of security as if they got some magic stick to allow them to break the rules.

It's a group of beer bars with no SHA certificates, no masks, illegally operating. And if you have to pay 500 baht barfine to a girl you already know, during these low and slow times, then you have a problem. Especially, if you already had BBFS and GFE with her before. Funny thing is I saw her greet another customer and touches his face with the same hand. Nasty. On another night, there was a thin girl with dark hair, almost bob like haircut, wearing small shorts who tried to pull me in for drinks. She was walking on Soi 7 with another girl. We walked in together to those set of beer bars and I immediately wanted to walk out because it was dead. She was like "I go with you. " And so she did. No barfine and 1000ST. She was about the only decent thing I've seen in Soi 7, the entire 45 days I've been here. The reason I concluded your friend "missed it. It happens," based on the reports of his you posted originally is because it really was easy at the time of his first report to miss that collection of a dozen or so bars on Soi 7 unless you turn left off of Soi 7 and actually walk down that little passage between Sukhumvit Road and Beer Garden, particularly when there might have been only 1-2 bars with any girls working in them ON Soi 7 at the time of his first report. Which your friend's first report did not say he did. Instead, he said something about bars with curtains and people behind them (whatever that was) and then he checked out Beer Garden and left. I have been with punters who were intent on checking out Beer Garden on Soi 7 and walked right past that little passage without a clue there was a collection of bars, often packed with girls and customers, right after the passage makes a small right turn.

That's why I replied to that original report and asked for more details about those supposed bars with "curtains and people behind them." But neither you nor your friend replied, which further supported my assumption that he had no idea what else to say about some supposed bars like that and that "he missed it."

In fact, it was probably because the bars down that little passage were not easily visible to the casual passerby that they have been open and hosting girls pretty much since the major closures began months and months ago without being raided.

Yes, official badge or not, like virtually every beer bar on Soi Nana/Soi 4 now, even they can pretend to be "restaurants" instead of strictly bars and serve alcohol without much worry of being raided as late as 9PM since November 1. If anything, they can jump into the pretense even faster if ever necessary since the bulk of them down that little passage is relatively "hidden." But even Random Bar, the biggest one right on Soi 7 has been openly serving booze, providing live entertainment and hosting dozens of girls on their busiest nights since November 1, three days before your friend said he only walked "towards" Soi 7 to see what girls were hanging out on Sukhumvit Road and not "down" Soi 7.
