I mentioned earlier that there is some remodeling or renovation activity going on at Twister Bkk go-go bar on the ground level of Nana Plaza. Today there were several cars parked inside the plaza as though there was some kind of pow wow taking place. Security guards at the entrance claimed to know nothing about what was going on.

It is good news about Twister. I hope all the Go Go's, bars, and parlors survive their forced hibernation.

But things are a long, long way from any kind of return normal visitor levels. Hotel prices at major Hotel chains can provide an economic snapshot of the current and 6 month out projected economic forecast. Take the Sheraton Sukhumvit since you mentioned it: I have a 6 night no pre payment, fully cancellable booking with them for a deluxe room in March, 2022 for $100 per night. I could have booked same room, same hotel for $65 per night with a prepared no cancelation booking, but I am not sure the kingdom will be open in March and I am not willing to bet on it.

My point is simply that the hotel must be nearly empty for management to offer these kind of prices. I hope I will be allowed to go in March, But I don't care. I am in SP now. It is my 2nd visit this year. I am having a rollicking good time. I miss BKK for sure, but I am doing fine.

Beer Garden is open but pretty dismal, it was a walk in, walk out type of deal. I have seen some light and signs of life lately at Twisters BKK go-go bar on the ground level of Nana Plaza. But that is only because a few male workers are doing some remodeling or renovating in the place, same as at a couple of beer bars outside on Soi 4.

However, I am not familiar with what you are referring to on Soi 7 as "a few make shift bars with music and people behind curtains on that same Soi, just to the left as you make your way in." Are you talking about the collection of beer bars well into that little alley just before Beer Garden Soi 7, some of which re-located there from Soi 22 pre-Covid? I am not sure if I would say they are to be found "just to the left" as you enter Soi 7 from Sukhumvit Road and I don't know what you mean about "people behind curtains." So I was wondering if those are exactly the bars you meant or perhaps something else set up along the soi closer to Sukhumvit Road.

I have two Moderna vaccinations.

In two weeks, I am going to Cartagena from US where I will spend a week, then proceed to Santa Marta up the coast for a few days before returning to Cartagena. After that, I am flying to Mexico City where I will spend ten days followed by a trip to Cuernavaca, another well known Mexican city about 90 minute drive away. If I wanted to, which I don't, one could fly from the US to Greece, or Ibiza in Spain, and in general most European cities (if you are vaccinated and Covid free). I don't know about Brazil but believe it is generally open to tourists.

Most of Mexico from Tulum to Tijuana is open for business too. Regardless, in order to return to US, you need to take a Covid test to prove you are negative.

Some countries remain closed. Taiwan, New Zealand, Australia are virtually impossible for a tourist to enter. Flights from Mexico City to Cuba appear to be suspended. On the other hand, the DR is open as are most island places in the Carib. All these places are different scenes than Thailand but fun is still available to the discerning monger.

Can you be kind enough to list the plenty of places in the world you can go? Especially for a Pfizer vaccinated usa guy?

Thanks for the update and honest reporting. I actually have been retired for several years and spent considerable amount of my time in Bangkok, at least during the winter months, and other SEA countries. I am scheduled to return on Dec 26 but have some doubts if that will happen, especially if the fun factor remains eliminated. Even though, I don't by habit visit the bars in NEP, Soi Cowboy, etc. I do enjoy strolling the nearby sois taking it all in and that 'fun factor' seems sadly missing from your report. Fortunately, the weather and sunny days are in abundance during the winter, unlike monsoon season that you have to deal with, so the climate does get better once the season changes.

Nevertheless, I definitely will not come if the quarantine rule stays in effect or if they continue having a curfew. There are plenty of places I can go in the world where I don't have to be in my home by 10 or 11 pm. So this winter could be a miss. By the way, that's an amazing deal at the Hotel Salil. I remember their nightly rates being $60 to $70 only a few winters ago. I also recall that warren of bars before the Beer Garden. Even in the winter of 2020, talent there was tough to come by. Mostly it seemed to be 'buy me drink' girls.

Can you be kind enough to list the plenty of places in the world you can go? Especially for a Pfizer vaccinated usa guy?
