Why do you guys remain in Thailand assuming you don't have a Thai wife? There are places out there with tons of girls even cheaper than Thailand. PP, Jakarta, PI to name a few. imo Jakarta is currently hands down the best place for value for pretty young girls.
Admittedly, Bangkok is a better place to live if girls aren't your main priority but for me if not for girls I'd live in Switzerland or Tokyo.

A lot of guys whine how crappy Thailand is now but I bet we all wish it was our first visit to Thailand again.
Oops, my mid-May experiences are in Pattaya. Thought I'd mention that since this is the Bangkok thread.

As a result, the random musings about pronounciation, cabin baggage, food, Thai politics, etc make this forum one of the BEST sources of DEEP information about traveling, living and FUCKING in Thailand on the Internet foir Westerners.
Why? Because only the rat really knows the sewer. Gutter crawling mongers know where its at.
Now consider: all the other Thailand forums can give you good information but censor the funner aspects. Hell, you can't even write the word fuck. And while I roll my eyes at the porn novels some folks write here, I read them anyway to glean that IMPORTANT information, good food, good rooom, good route, cool sight, fun market, interesting interactions.
When I, 30 years at this, need some info, I search here FIRST, then go to other sources. And if I see a respected member say, hey, after I got my turgid pole slobbered over, I ate a Burger at. , I put it on my list to go there. And I already know about Air Asia, I have flown it 8 times in the past 12 months, but I bet Billy Bumbleshoot from Sheepdip-on-Tyne doesn't.

Last 20 to 30 reports. Firstly we were having our pronunciation classes, now we are discussing cabin baggage policies of airlines. I think we should come back to our main agenda. No offence to any one. A plain and simple advise. Happy songkran.

As a first time visiting, is a trip worth it in late May? I know it's considered the shoulder season, will I get the full experience? I have seven days and open to suggestions.

Posts: 6298Another trick people do when they have lots of carry on is they have one of those large shopping bags and load it up with stuff. Most airlines won't weigh those or even count them as a carry on. As Global wrote some times you get lucky and Air Asia doesn't weigh all your bags. Possibly cause he paid 1100 baht for over weight carry on already.

Posts: 209Just flew airAsia from Osaka to Bangkok. Paid an extra 1100 Bhat to up my carryon weight from 7 kg to 14 kg. They did check the weight of my carry-on roller bag but didn't weigh my back which is nearly the size and weight of my roller bag. And I had a sling they didn't count.

Do what everyone else does. Wear a jacket and put everything heavy in your pant and jacket pockets.

Hi all.
Bit of left field question, flying into / out of BKK has anyone ever had their carry on bag / case weighted or scrutinized for being overweight? It's just I was surprised when booking my latest flight that most popular airlines like Emirates, Thai airways, airAsia etc only give a 7 kg carry on allowance! It seems quite stingy. My well travelled "cabin size" small case is always thought of as a 10 kg case and whenever I have checked that it was always around 9-11 kg in weight.
I usually check a bag but after my two last trips to BKK (first I missed a connection because of bags not being properly checked through, then the following trip they lost a case on me) so I want / need to keep my stuff close to me as I also have a very tight transit stopover on the way in. Don't want to miss the flight for any reason and miss the fun of the day in BKK!
Thanks.
P.

And my questions about which other words in Thai include a th as in Thermos sound was a genuine query of you or anyone else who might know, not a criticism of how you or anyone else says it. I apologize if it came across otherwise.
