Hi guys,

Thanks for a lot of posts with a wealth of info.

Still, I could not find the info I need.

I am arriving to BKK tomorrow, returning after 10+ years, and I would like to find one girl to have with me for a week or so (also some travelling involved).

The girl should be high level / top quality and I am prepared to pay a reasonable price.

What is the best way to find such a girl?

Online?

Is there a venue which has high level girls and I could take her from there (pay a bar fine)?

I have been coming to Bangkok for almost 10 years. Usually I arrive during the winter months and stay three to four months. On past trips, I used to haunt the live music places (I. E. Bangkok Beat etc.) and find working girls there. Never had to pay a barfine and usually the girl's short / long term rates were reasonable. Last week, I visited Geisha, Mandarin, and Billboard. Though there are many attractive ladies in each, it appeared to me that they were not getting very loose with the customers. Perhaps, I went at the wrong time of night or my timing was off but wondering amongst the board members, where is a good place at either NEP or Soi Cowboy where I can grind the night away?. I might add that I know the girls are looking for a barfine in most cases but as I am generous with LDs I would hope that enough compensation for their time. It doesn't matter. You are wasting valuable time and effort if you use Bolt in Bangkok.

Attention at newbies and casual visitors. Download the grab app before you arrive in Thailand. You can make it easy for yourself, and put a credit card on file, I use a Wise card myself. Your waits will be shorter, your drivers will be better, did I mention your waits will be shorter? Much shorter. Is that worth a dollar? Is to me at 2 am on Lower Suk, or when it's raining, or near "rush hour".

I don't own stock in either, I have both apps because I use Bolt in Georgia and Azerbaijan, and my recommendation is based on living here and actually using services, not just casually visiting or scrolling Instagram.

By the way AirAsia also has a ride sharing service and it's not very good. Neither is their app but that's another story.

How do I reach that opinion? Well after 40 years in Thailand I can tell you, even just based on the questions asked on this board, that people should learn how to crawl before they walk. If you don't know the pricing structure in various venues, if you if you need to ask how to approach a Thai girl, if you don't understand the difference between a Korean and a Japanese style venue, if you have to ask whether a hotel is a girlfriend friendly or not, if you don't even know how to act in Nana or Thermae, if you're constant cheap Charliing over $20, then you shouldn't be in a venue which is designed for Japanese people. If you can't figure out where you are, you shouldn't be somewhere else.

You think these newbies are able to run a marathon before they can stand on their own two feet?

Up to you kids but I've been doing this for 40 years and I will tell you that if you are inexperienced in Thailand, don't bother with Thaniya. If that upsets a fanboy, well nothing I can do about it. Personally, I enjoy Thaniya myself. I also speak pidgen Japanese.

Grab tends to be more expensive than Bolt, but it accepts both cards and cash (My UK Mastercard works without any problems on Grab). Bolt, on the other hand, is cash-only, and you must pay cash to the driver at the end of each trip.

I'll be in Bangkok late next week. I'll be traveling a lot in the city and the hotel I'm staying at (for work) is not near the metro and I don't feel that thrilled about taking the bus. Which car service is better, Grab or Bolt? Thanks in advance.

This works, BUT... Depending on how heavy you travel, you can get bitten. Coming back from a home leave, I booked 2 tickets, home to BKK and BKK to a sand box. Leaving the US, you get 2 bags, 50 lbs each (I was coming back from home leave so bags were full). But because I had a separate ticket for the next leg, the baggage allowance was a LOT less, and I had a choice: trash or pay the excess fees. And excess fees are not cheap. Probably wouldn't apply for a short vacation trip, but just something to be aware of.

The excess baggage fee is cheaper when added during the trip booking. Just make sure to check how much baggage is allowed for the entire journey per leg.

Another trick is to use the multi-city option on booking platforms, selecting convenient dates for each city you plan to visit. This way, the platform tries to suggest the cheapest options through partner airlines, and in some cases, that includes the same baggage policy for the entire journey, as it is considered a single ticket.

I usually book a UK Jakarta / Bali.

Bangkok UK as a multi-city trip and it gives me KLM / Air France combo. Later, for travel between Indonesia and Thailand, I separately book with Air Asia and select excess baggage as needed during the booking.

You don't actually have to take the routes they give you. You can book a round trip to London say and a round trip from London to Bangkok separately. This often comes out cheaper than doing a single booking and you have a lot more flexibility.

I tried this concept a few times times, it was always much more expensive to book 2 shorter round trips than 1 longer round trip. I tried to get 2+ days layovers in Vienna, Istanbul, and Seoul. Sometimes the airlines let you select your layover that might be 24-hours later than I would normally select (e.g. , 4-hour or 28-hour layover), that can be an OK deal but only 24 hours to visit a place isn't very much time. Whenever I've called the airline for flexible scheduling the price goes up for telephone assisted reservations, my best deals for several years have always been booked online.
