Do you notice any price increase? I noticed juice and coconut from street carts has increased from 40 baht a month ago to 50 baht now. Hair cut is also more expensive from a couple of months ago. The prices seem unchanged in other areas.

I am always amused reading annual inflation stats for Thailand which usually show 1% or thereabouts.

I don't which basket of goods and services they use but it certainly doesn't reflect your average expats experience. My cup of tea at my favorite tea shop just went from 50 baht to 60 Baht still cheap I know but reflects a 20% increase.

Price hikes for items under 100 baht now seem to be in increments of at least 5 Baht and more often 10 baht.

Prices differ. Bangkok is more expensive than Pattaya which in turn is more expensive than Chiangmai which is more expensive than Khonkaen which is more expensive than Lampang and so on.

Notwithstanding the current strength of the Baht and price increases over the past 5 to 10 years for health, dining, clothing and general living Thailand is my experience still a relatively cheap place to live, not as cheap as some other Asian countries but in comparison to the so called developed world.

The rarity of seeing fully naked post-op LBs was a topic several months ago. I happened to drop into Enter Go-Go Bar on the 3rd floor of Nana Plaza last night about 10pm and, lo and behold, there was one inside the glass shower stall giving a full view show. After his/her set, another one took over for the next 15 minutes or so.

My date was fascinated. It was her and my first live and relatively up close view of a post-op man-made replica of a vagina. Of the outside of one, that is. You'll want to sit in the booths on the opposite side of the shower stall as you enter Enter for the best vantage point.

Just reporting on an LB Show here, of course, nothing about barfining one.

The rest of the line up in Enter last night, the genuine females among them I mean, was low on lookers but seemed high on enthusiastic attention from the stage. But I already had a date sitting with me so that sometimes inspires a lot more positive body language toward me from girls on a Ladydrink hustle. One or two of the girls might have been lobbying for a possible threesome. I wasn't interested so didn't investigate further.

Really? I heard the reason Thai TV shows will often have Thai subtitles even though the actors are all speaking Thai is because there are so many different regional Thai dialects, some regions might have trouble understanding what the actors are saying and they need subtitles. Like a thick Cockney dialect in London.

Are the vowels not a factor from region to region in Thailand?

Yes that is the reason you will see Thai subtitles on local TV.

In fact many Isan people have extremely low literacy rates in Thai.

I would not in anyway consider a gogo gal to be 5 star and on par with a luxury hotel.

The check in and check out process is probably a lot smoother at the 5 star hotel.

No, that's because in my 20 years here I've never seen or talked to a gal in a gogo who is good looking, sophisticated enough, or well educated enough to be considered 5 star. A 5 star hooker would be one you could take to a 5 star restaurant and she'd be able to choose the wine. See'Mon. Gogo girls are for the most part farmer's daughters. Yes, some are decent looking, but 5 star? Hardly.

This is a poor way of judging a working girl. Appearance and performance are the only factors to consider. Wasting a "star" on whether she knows what wine to pick is pretentious and unnecessary. At least here in Silicon Valley, good looking educated girls make $150 k+ and don't need to hook.

English is supposed to be tolerant of different ways to pronounce vowels depending where you come from. Thai is not. Vowels sounds in Thai have to be correct.

Ha ha. An English guy corrected my pronunciation of it too, after he did not recognise the word at all. Seems I pronounce it in the way similar to Indian, Sri Lankan, and West Indies and European way, where English and Americans may pronounce the letter A another way (as in can). For Thai way, it becomes like "ganchar".

First time at Thermae and just wanted to see for myself. Walk down the stairs and a man will ask you to buy a drink before you can browse the girls. It was a Wednesday around 10 pm and it was quite packed. The girls are lined up around the perimeter as well as the center. The guys are in a Congo line walking clockwise. There's barely any tables or space for you to stand. It seems to me like you just make a few laps, spot a girl you like, negotiate, and then on head out.

Not sure what the prices are but a few guys told me about 3 k for ST. Hotter girls will ask for more. There were some solid 7's and 8's sprinkled in the crowd but I just wanted to check out the scene and didn't ask. Definitely worth visiting at least once IMO.
