Yep, prices are getting crazy in Thailand. This might be a good time for the Thermae report I mentioned in my earlier post.

Somewhat inadvertently, I conducted an informative (to me) and unofficial survey over the course of three months where I, a 66 year old Caucasian punter, happened to take three different girls, 1 each month, from the left side of the Thermae line up. Your chart doesn't go back far enough to show that a increase like that over the course of a 2-3 year period was not only fairly common before Trump was elected, inaugurated or signed his first major economic legislation, there actually has not been as great an increase in the market since any of those events as we'd seen previously.

Go back 10 years and use the much more broadly diversified S&P 500 Index as the measure for USA Stock market performance overall rather than the somewhat irrelevant DOW.

Since December 22, 2017 when the current administration's first major economic legislation was passed, the S&P has gained roughly 7.6% or about 4.35% on an annualized basis (factoring in partial years). Ok, let's be unrealistically generous and go back to the January 20, 2017 inauguration. The S&P has only gained about 11.25% on an annualized basis since then. Going all the way back to the November, 2016 election, although there is no historic precedence for why we should, we have seen a roughly 14% per year/annualized gain since then. Compared to most recent years prior to the election, those are not particularly impressive results at all.

Almost true. Taxis are still so cheap that one can use them every day, and you can eat wisely healthier Thai market food very cheaply (without doing Maccas or KFC). I even know of Vegetarian food stands. You can also rent a room by the month cheaply. So its the sex that is getting expensive really. Clothes and shoes should still be priced okay.

Imported goods have ridiculous prices. The middle man agents make big money for doing nothing. King Power Duty Free is a rip off too. I don't buy from them any more.

(1) The US Stock market did drop for 1 or 2 days after Trump was elected. It then recovered quickly.

(2) Most Wall Street pundits and Market gurus had made this prediction. All the TV Channels reported this story: CNBC, Bloomberg etc. It was not just CNN.
