I've noticed that with older guys in general paying the price they always paid for decades.

As a 27 yo American, I spent an entire week at thermaes a month ago and gladly paid 2500-3000 without haggling.

The other 20-30 yo guys I hung out with (mostly Canadian and American) did the same. I guess cheap is relative given countries of origin and changing economies. When you were our age, there were probably old guys paying sub 500 for top notch girls.

In general I agree with your theory although there are several claims to the origin of this trend. One story goes that it started in 2003 in Australia where men grew their moustaches and beards in the month of November to express their support and solidarity towards other men suffering from various forms of cancer common in men. Like prostrate or testicular. And it's called Movember. Does this happen in America?

I don't have a beard or stache and never liked them but my opinion has changed of them because, I was listening to npr one day whilst driving (you can google this) that maybe around the late 1880's 1890's?

There was a movement against facial hair from feminists, because it highlighted differences between men and women, and something women could not do.

Now I've seen beards facial hair become popular amongst the hipster crowd on the left (10-15 yrs ago) in response there was a political reaction from men on the right (at least in the USA) in the last several yrs.

I believe its a political statement for many, right wing and proud, anti-feminist and proud?

If I see a man in business attire in an airport or walking down the street in an american city I'm assuming hes flouting his political affiliation? BTW the bigger the beard, I'm guessing the more conservative.

I'm pretty sure that fad started in the USA, so I would guess the girls who do like it are well exposed to western culture. (can a Thai man even grow a beard?) Personally, I think it's ridiculous, mainly because a beard is so itchy. I actually think Major League Baseball players were the first to start it a few years ago as a superstitious thing - "I won't shave my beard until we win the world series" and it caught on as a trendy thing to do.

Well beards for men are like push-up bras for women. If a guy has a weak chin, it may be worth growing a beard to cover up half his face.

I asked my fav BKK 18 yo to shave my body one day.

She wouldn't, they love my hairy chest, she said Asian guys look like hairless dogs naked LOL.

She said no, men are supposed to have body hair.

I just like to shave 1-2 x per year to keep it looking fresh LOL.

Till a few years back I knew this girl named Mint in Pattaya who used to work at a LK Metro gogo who did an expert job of shaving. The regular shave and then the full body job. Sadly I have not been to Thailand in 2 years now so I have to settle for an expensive spa treatment in Singapore.

Lately, I have been surprised by how many Thai girls are really into beards on men. I don't have a beard, don't want to grow one so I shave every day. But a lot of young Thai girls will drool over photos of men with beards and ask me if I would consider growing one for them, which is not what most Thai observers would have expected years ago.

And this is what makes it a horse race. Your personal opinion on girl quality is just as valid as mine even though it is almost the opposite.

I agree with you that BKK overall is a better place to hang out. There is little to do in MNL until the bars open. The food is much better in BKK although food in MNL is not bad and getting better all the time. And MNL is a much poorer city with higher degree of poverty & crime. I would never consider living in MNL unless I had a really good job there, but I do like the girls. I remember one night I was sitting in Plan B waiting for my girl to change her clothes. It was still kind of early and only a few customers were there. Then I noticed 7 or 8 girls were laughing, smiling, and dancing together in a choreographed way amongst themselves. It looked like they were having a good time. It was a pleasant moment and nice to watch. I can't recall when I have seen a similar event take place in a BKK or Pattaya Go Go. There were 3 or 4 girls on the stage at the time my spec. I liked what I saw. Then my girl returned looking good in her casual street clothes and we were off.

I will have to say beyond opinion, one of us is closer to the objective truth, and I think most mongers that have been to Thailand and the PI will agree.

The quality between the 2 cannot be said to be in the same league.

Thailand has truly beautiful hookers, manila bars and ac bars are like one big junk yard.
