But I can get 75% sticker price all day long.

Free is a whole different beast.

I'm sure I cood get free all day long from the low end.

But I don't want that shit even if you paid me, my dick would be inoperable.

Some great tunes ranging from classic rock, to alt-new wave, to blues, to alt-country; it was great. When I first came most Cowboy bars played at least some rock. GoGos used to be a great place to drink with all your buddies. Not to expensive and then you could grab a gal when you were ready to shag. Midnight was unreal before the Arab bought it (twas his first bar). 100 Baht drinks and lady drinks, 500 Baht BF included use of ST room upstairs, and gals happy with 1 k. Used to sit in the back booth for hours on end, pop upstairs for a romp, then back downstairs to hang out with friends. Good playlist as well when Aussie Mark was running the place.
Some place were playing tuff that the DJ liked but the girls could not dance to it.

5 star was once playing the car alarm disco music (I like that phrase I am borrowing from another poster) far too loud. Was horrible. I asked the girl and she said she likes it. Ha ha. However was definitely driving away the customers. Not they are having more moderate music. It is not rock naturally but more modern stuff that is danceable and not so bad as it used to be. Some decent songs. It did not grab my attention, so means not too horrible overall. Perhaps a compromise to what girls and customers can relate to.

    Shark also has compromise music.

If the music is too ancient like early 70's that may well drive away all the young customers, so they have to make sensible compromises. Sheba when it was alive had an excellent DJ in my opinion where Suzie Wong and Crazy House DJs were not that good for my taste. Shark is okay For me. Mostly moderately modern but not too stupid.

In 1991 two Aussies were running a bar called "Midnight Upstairs". That was my first ever bar a buddy took me to. Downstairs was a different bar, not gogo style I think.

There were a lot of good ones this decade, but there are also lots of songs this decade that were absolute crap. I would never limit myself to any one decade. I like lots of songs from all decades and almost all types of music. In Thailand, my favorite in the bars is when they play that goofy Isaan dance music. There's nothing wrong with them playing the Beatles then playing Pitbull. But I will admit that many times I walk into a bar then immediately walk out if they are playing loud rap "music". Life is too short to be listening to shit like Big Sean.

    Kiwi's

They are bound to have any European football game on one if their many big flatscreens or projector systems all around the place, including out on their balconies for smokers.
Of course, Kiwi's located on a small alley just off SUK on Soi 8 shows American football and European soccer plus the random cricket and tennis match. I recall seeing an Aussie bar perhaps called something similar on Soi 11 not to far from Hilary Bar.

I always struggled to find a good place to watch European soccer (Premier league or Champion's league) in BKK, every time I tried The Game they were not showing it, they mostly showed some American sport stuffs. And I think they close at 2 AM so it's practically impossible to see the games that are played in the evening in Europe. Some bars on soi 4 are showing them but the loud Rock music is very annoying there.

The only place that I've seen showing them consistently is an establishment (Hotel or bar or restaurant I don't remember what it is) on Sukhumvit at the corner of soi 15 (I think) , but there's no entertainment there, and it was always surrounded by the African guys.

I was sitting in a Pattaya bar yesterday and something happened to make me think of this post. My girl and I were controlling the iPad and playing music from this decade. There was a grumpy old man in his 60's who demanded that he have his music played or he would leave and take his business elsewhere. My hand was quickly pushed back down by my girl as I was waving goodbye to him. My girl says let him have his way there are no customers here now and the other girls need to make money. The old man starts playing Elvis and The Beatles and other old songs from that era. My girl commented that she didn't even think her grandparents were born when these songs came out, which is likely true.

Whenever I told my girl enough is enough I was taking the iPad back she would give me a free BJ or HJ to keep me preoccupied. So instead of being upset at the old man I was appreciative that his selfish actions helped me get some free action. Thanks old dude!

Come on now. They don't listen to rock and roll where you come from? I thought everyone who is a fan of rock music had heard this Ted Nugent classic. Wang Dang sweet poontang! I know they play it in Bangkok as I've heard it often at Sexy Nights bar in Nana.

I see. Though my usual sports bar is on soi 13.

It usually not too crowded, and music is good after midnight.

As I am not from USA, many special USA words baffle me. "Football" specifically is a meaningless term, internationally. One classic one was the "PIs" for Philippine Islands. Never heard of that in my country. Slang like "poontang" never used also where I come from. Maybe I speak Thai better than American. We do learn what is "trash can" from watching USA TV, but other countries call it a rubbish bin, also we go on holiday rather than vacation, use a lift rather than an elevator, and the ground level floor is called the ground floor and not the first floor (its not the first floor throughout Europe I believe). Ha ha. So specifying a floor number in a post can be very confusing.

In some Asian countries, even more confusing because sometimes they have a ground floor and sometimes they don't. Thailand I read on internet, officially uses the European system, but I keep seeing American style exception buildings. In a post best to clarify it, if ever matters. Levels maybe numbered differently to floors. Ha ha.

We can use terms Gridiron and Soccer etc. To be clear about football. I go to a Sports bar that has Soccer, Rugby (two different codes / Rules), Australian Rules football, Cricket, Cycling, Grand Prix Car racing, tennis, snooker, pool (maybe) and they can actually put on just about anything to suit the particular customers at the time, even horse show jumping or golf. Different programs in different areas and sound as far as possible if not too many concurrent sports showing. They actually don't play Grid Iron that much simply because the customer base rarely requests it. I like to go eat Western food just for a change there. Strangely there are even Thai customers eating there at times. They must think the western food is okay Or even more strangely, order a Thai dish.

I hate any bars that play a sport program with no sound but have to listen to music which may not be our taste. Many bars on Soi 4 do this and even some sports pubs are doing this. It is best to have commentary about the players, in case picture is not sharp enough, or we don't happen to be familiar with all the players.

In my country, one cannot "root" for a team. Root is slang for fuck in some countries, but a rubber is an eraser and not a condom back home. Ha ha.

Weirdest American term appears to be "My bad". Not a sentence since their is no verb, only a possessive and adjective. I suppose will eventually be used in other countries copying, as has cropped up on TV and movies occasionally.
Agreed on using common terms on this forum.

And yeah bars can play anything if you ask them, once I asked to switch to a channel where UFC was playing. Noone else objected, so finished my 2 beers watching Conon McGregor vs Khabib.

Here is a very incorrect skit on Chinese/Viet names, by Rodney Rude. Don't play unless you like extremely "Rude":

And on racial send ups and stereotypes (Japanese), quite disgraceful:

No matter how crude, I could laugh. Maybe the crudity helps make it funny.

Nowadays it's almost the opposite that happens. Whenever a foreigner gets in a confrontation he's being beaten, by girls, by LBs or by the taxi-mob and random guys in the area or they are taken in the police station (I've seen that happens in front of me numerous times).
Well I respect your opinion. I think? But others have also mentioned that the ladies have also told them stories about abuse. You need to spend some mellow time with the girls and talk nice to them. Show them your a good guy and not just a customer. They really appreciate it and will compensate with some good loving.
