I had a brief stop over, yes one night in Bangkok!

I think if we can all support places like the Beer Garden, the stock will get better over time and cut out the middle man that just serves to take money without good service.

Biergarden on Soi 7 has been around forever. It can be called a Bangkok institution.

However, the area around it has changed and the clientele in the area has changed. 20 years ago Biergarden was home to the old farangs who still made up a sizeable chunk of the tourist and expat population on lower Suhmuvit.

They have now been completely replaced by a much younger crowd (both expat and tourist) and a higher spending crowd, with businesses and girls catering to this new population.

Biergarden was always a late afternoon / early evening "option" on the Bangkok buffet, staffed with older / less desirable women (though I suppose a gem can always still be found).

Haven't been there in ages, so I have no idea how business is these days.

Anyways, I don't think any "drive" on this board will really help Biergarden one way or the other. If you want to cut out the middle man, you can use social media (to an extent), but don't expect significantly lower prices. The girls still take the prevailing prices (not all that different than at a gogo)

I was walking through Soi Cowboy last night about 9:15 PM and, lo and behold, the new "Crazy House 2" bar at the corner of Soi 23 was open for business! Except it isn't called "Crazy House 2". It is called Kozy Kazy. Whatever that means. And we thought the Crazy House/Crazy Horse confusion was annoying.

Long time rumoured to be coming and I presume has replaced Old Dutch, whose lease finally expired. Never liked their food really. Could be wrong but that is what was on the Cowboy side of Crazy House, that might have been available.

Nah, who cares what the name is, as long as we can get it right. Ha ha. Not easy. Thais could easily spell a name wrong! Crazy House was easy, no confusion there.

I was always amazed how few guys could quote the MP "Can Cam" correctly. But short for Candid Camera. If I can sort out any meaning behind the CH2 name, and how pronounced, I will post later. Probably have a look tonight, why not? Interesting to see if they have stupid Coyotes or not, Pretty nudes or not? Or no business as yet. Music okay Or woeful?

Over history, bars have not always been able to choose or change names as they please. Legal reasons concerning the official name on the lease apparently. This has caused some bars to have more than one name I think. Isn't Long Gun also called "Lone Star"? Suzie Wong is still called Suzie Wong despite being taken over by the Baccarat chain. Five Star remains Five Star despite take over by Crazy also.

The age part of it is also where the age of consent in Thailand gets muddy. As far as I can tell, the age of consent in Thailand is 15, not 18, but sources might disagree or be unclear about it. HOWEVER, if an offer of money is made to someone 15, 16 or 17 years old in exchange for sex then the Sections regarding prostitution are clear that a crime has been committed. It seems to accept that engaging in sex with someone 15, 16 or 17 is not in itself illegal, only if done in exchange for money. But it does not explicitly say so.

Most of us here for many years will have done some girl less than 18 quite accidentally without having a clue how old she was. So extra care maybe needed depending on the source of the girl. In odd case I found out later that girl was younger than I thought (seemed fully mature to me), but was always the case she wanted it. Thermae used to be my main hangout for years, up until 2006. I averaged 4 nights a week there. We still go in there as a group occasionally and we stand in a circle and talk where ever we can find some space. We've had a few get lippy, with us and we get lippy (in Thai) right back, but they usually shut their yappers when the wait staff who we have known for 20 years come over to talk to us. And hey, the Asian dudes will walk around you. Wonder how hard it would be to get them to reverse course? We find the entire scene quite comical. In many ways it is even more the Star Wars bar now than it was in the early 00's. Some of the worst dressed dudes you will ever see. We have nicknames for some of the regulars! But it's always a hoot. And it can be fun to watch the gals work. Personally I have not pulled from there in over 10 years and wouldn't.

I echo what's already been said, the go-go bars in Soi Cowboy are a waste of time, making money from entry fees and high drink prices. No character, no charm. Avoid IMHO. Similarly, the bars with girls in are all set up for the same. Bar fine, lady drinks etc It's all about the transaction and the one shot and back in the bar.

After a bit of aimless wondering around I stepped into Soi 7, there were tuk-tuk bars and a bunch of African ladies milling about. About halfway down there's a pub called Beer Garden. It's quite big and open, but a little dated. Oh and no actual garden, there is beer though! Anyway, there's no entry fee, a beer is just 85 bht, no loud music and a bunch of free lancers. Mostly 5's and MILFs but enough 6's and 7's to make it worth it. There are no lady drinks and no pressure. You sit and chat (music is not loud) and really get to know the ladies. Quite refreshing for Bangkok! Long story short, I picked up a MILF (40 yrs, but in good condition, looked 30) and she offered to take me on a bit of a tour around Soi 4, some pool and some dancing. It was more like a date, she offered to come back with me for 2,000 bht, I countered with 1,500 and she accepted (it was a slow Sunday night). Service and attitude were great and she stayed until morning. No rush at all. If it wasn't for this chance encounter, I would have dismissed Bangkok altogether.

I believe the above Sections are all about loitering in a public place in order to engage in prostitution, advertising for it, publicly promoting it, "pimping" for it and so on but not about the act of prostitution itself. So the girls standing in front of the Nana Hotel parking lot will scatter or vanish when the police show up to check for visa violations or age violations in the Plaza because they can be busted for standing in front of the Nana Hotel parking lot soliciting for prostitution. However, there does not appear to me to be any reason for them to worry about being busted for the actual exchange of sex for money (or for the customer giving them money for sex) in a customer's hotel room or apartment.

I agree. My few surveys of Soi 22 bars and MPs (including sub sois), I always found it very hard to find much in the way of slim pretty girls. Definitely a place for the less picky Expats, I would think. Never really wanted to stay on that Soi.

Are there any exception places? Otherwise I would tend to dub it "Ugly Girls Soi".

The scene I describe reminded me the first time my cousin took me to Korean to get my cherry popped in the mid 60's they use to call these tours to Korea " Goodie tours out of HK " when we get to the ***** complex we be sitting there all like little kids waiting for the roller coaster ride while the tour guy tries to get us to pick.

There are 3 countries that are Chinese, China, HK, and Taiwan. They are not the same but they probably will all agree Korean and Japanese dress better. I think Korean has a stronger pop cultural influence in Asia currently.

I don't know the percentage. I read in Chinese forums, sometimes I see posters mention like there were 90% Chinese in there. I know it is an exaggeration but there must be a lot of Chinese in Thermae. Also, Chinese have sex tour groups arranged by travel agent, not sure how many are there, so I won't be surprised to see large group sometimes. Yes, if you are a regular at Thermae you will get bored of the lineup. Same girls.

Some were. (walking up to talk to girls, etc) but it seemed to be more of an ogling parade around the premises. To be fair, only stayed several minutes and didn't analyze this phenomenon more closely.

One has always noticed this circular movement of the Asian clientele around Thermae, as they check out the girls (and of course, the girls smile, giggle and wave to them), but there was definitely more of a "mass", more "densely packed" component there last night, which caught my attention / memory when I read Nyezhov's post.

Probably just a temporary singular thing? I dunno. Just caught my eye as well.

I can usually do fairly well in telling those three ethnicities apart (though it would be harder if they were ___-American, because then the mannerisms, clothing, etc would be far more similar)
