Been to BKK about a dozen times over the last 20 years. Here are a few notes from a recent trip.

Eden Club: Chose Pim with big toothy smile. She offered the most eye contact. Usually a good sign. She also was reasonably attractive, which can be rare at Eden Club. For starters, the paid recruiters are inclined to seek out known fellow HIV sufferers they've met in HIV treatment clinics, hospitals, support groups and so on. Maybe even in their needle sharing meet ups. They obviously were not going to wander around Sukhumvit and Soi 4, clip board in hand, tapping random freelancers on the shoulder to do their paid job of finding HIV-positive respondents.

The agreeable respondents might not even be freelance sex workers per se but will only say so in order to get the money and the free treatment on offer. Not true. Myanmar rates (0. 80% in 2016) are not that far behind Thailand (1. 1% in 2016) for percentage of the population. African nations of course have far higher rates of HIV (Swaziland 27%, south Africa 18.9% and even Jamaica is higher. Surprising since I imagine prevalence of hookers in Myanmar may be a lot lower.
