Fanfinfin has no restriction by nationality. However, it's entirely in Thai language and clearly geared towards the Thai market, so if you don't speak Thai, it's less accessible (but with enough patience, anything is possible). Well, you didn't mention it when you mentioned the Bridge and cemetery, I don't think I have seen it cited on the tour van banners, I have mentioned it to at least 3 tourists and expats who went there to see the Bridge and they didn't know it was there even though they are into WWII related topics, I only knew about it because I bothered to open a dusty brochure on a dusty rack at my nearby hotel, the hotel driver who took us from the hotel to the Bridge had no idea where it was even though it is within a 5 minute walk of the Bridge, we had to ask 3-4 vendors on the very soi it was located on where it was before we found one who knew (I was with a native Thai speaking gf, btw), when we got there we had to practically blow an air horn to pull an attendant out of hiding to sell us an entrance ticket and during the hour or so we were there on a Saturday with huge crowds down the soi gawking at the Bridge, we saw only three other couples and 1 family, all farangs except one couple, in the place.

It is possible I missed that museum and was taken to something else as I don't recall it being that large. Too long ago now. Alzheimer's setting in. I did go to some sort of museum, recall some artifacts and a lot of depressing photos, and was a little bored by it to be honest.

Despite these, I don't see any evidence there is a Kwai river at all. Just an English misspelling and mispronunciation of Kwae. Kwai means buffalo, but Kwae does not. So "Little buffalo" and "Big buffalo" are actually big buffalo bullshit.

If you ask a Thai about river Kwai, they generally have not heard of it, as the main river in Kanchanburi is called the Kwae. Actually Kwae Yai joins to Kwae Noi on google Maps to become Mae Khlong. From what I read above, Kwae Yai section was originally called Mae Khlong as well, a little guess work here, since all the info is contradictory on the face of it.

There is also a Hell Fire Pass museum about 80 km from Kanchanburi town toward the Sai Yok Yai waterfall. So okay Some artifacts in the Jeath War museum are probably the real thing.

The number one tourist attraction in Honolulu is the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor. The Japanese arrive in bus loads. The numbers are amazing.

Then don't go there. I didn't exactly say one should plan his trip to Thailand around a visit to that WWII museum or to even make a side trip to Kanchanaburi to see it. LOL. Only if you are going to be in the area, it is worth spending some time there where looking at or walking on the Bridge is done and finished in 5 minutes and the cemetery is a look to your left as you drive by experience.

And I did not say the Japanese tourists avoided the museum because they are ashamed of the photos and evidence of their brutal wartime atrocities on exhibit there. Just that there is so relatively little promotion of it by and in Thailand. Who knows, maybe those Japanese tour group sales pitches feature giant headlines about how no trip to Thailand should happen without a stroll through the history of Japanese atrocities against Thais, Burmese, Western European Farangs and so on but they just can't generate much interest in it.

On the other hand, I would say Americans promote the hell out of a visit to Pearl Harbor for any tourists from every country in the world.

It is much bigger than even we thought at first survey. It is three levels, indoors and outdoors, dozens of rooms and sections, some small and others as big as a warehouse. But you'd need to explore around a while to discover that. Imo, there is no way anyone could pop in for a few minutes just to check it out and make an informed opinion that there is nothing much to see here.

If I had to guess, I'd say the Thai Department of Tourism is not so keen about promoting that particular attraction as much as others because it doesn't exactly flatter their highly valued Japanese trade. But not so much that they would close it down and bury the artifacts. Purely a guess and speculation on my part, mind you. There sure were tons of Japanese tourists right outside taking photos of the latest version of the Bridge. But I did not see any in that WWII museum.

For the most part, the only girls whose similar admonishments I heed are the mid 30's girls who say they have no kids and want kids (I have had a vasectomy) and / or who ONLY say they are looking for Marriage in that particular profile option.
