a place called "open house" in westlands opposite the mall. so there is an uchumi supermarket opposite the mall, there is a buiilding to the right; on the ground floor you will find open house.

in the mall itself you will find handi restaurant which is pretty good; but have not been for a while; so don't know what its like now!

also in highridge there is a place called diamnon plaza, in the car park at the back is an open air food court which has a lot of chicken tikka, indian bites lots of variety. no booze though.

now if you get to diamon plaza; at the rear car park entrance; pass the netrance carry on driving a few speed bumps down and on the left; you will find spice root. this palce is famous for indian. kenyans cooking outside in small 'banda/chalets' this cook out is called a karoga (to stir)

but in the main house is a bar- and you can just pop down and enjoy good food and drink.

and i frequented all of the above apart from handi, not so long ago.

i am quite sure, bigdaddy had a different type of "indian

cuisine" in mind!

most indians i know (males and females) are very uncomfortable and shy re. anything sexual. very strange, considering that the mogul culture was the one that gave rise to the kamasutra and an abundance of other highly erotic literature. the use of phallic symbols in the decorations of royal palaces and temples was omnipresent.

something drastic must have happened in the course of their history to make them as prudish as they are today. it's not that they don't have sex (just look at the zillions populating the indian subcontinent) but it appears they don't feel at ease about it and don't enjoy it, for unexplained reasons.

maybe that's a manifestation of a kind of inbred victorian sense of duty ("whenever prince albert made love to me, i closed my eyes and thought of england")?

As Nairobi is definitely a mongerer's paradise .. but not with Indian really being on the menu ... in all my 10+ years of feeding on the local Nairobi cuisine I too have yet to come across freely available Indian pussy!

I would greatly appreciate if someone could recommend a GF hotel up to USD60 that is reasonably secure and also close to Simmers. What I have read, it seems that Simmers is probably a better option for first time visitor.
