My PC auto filled in my old passport number on the visa. The airliners caught it and made a big deal and told me that Kenya may turn me back. Immigration completely ignored it and allowed me through no questions. Also, a couple years ago in Uganda, immigration stamped my passport with a black woman's photo visa.

Where did you apply for an extension?

As said in the same web page where you make online visa:

Renewal.

Your stay period may be extended for a further 90 days through fns. Immigration. Go. Ke.

I have not gone through this procedure. When I noticed that I had only one month visa although I had been in Kenya three months, I decided to go to visit immigration. Lady there in reception area told me to pay six thousand shillings to arrange it without bureaucracy. I told three. We settled in four. So I gave her money, she disappeared somewhere and came back with three months extension in my visa. Lot of time saved, she told me that to make that renewal, I should have made lot of procedures in that webpage and then visit in immigration, I don't remember sure was there visit to immigration involved.

This airline checking. Around the world, it is more thorough and more difficult to pass than actual immigration. If you are not approved in immigration, you have to return, possibly airline have to pay this. So airline will check your application very carefully, visa, all covid stuff, etc. Often return flight is expected. I have been denied flight a few times during the years.

Also, I'm coming to Kenya in January. Is it possible to get a visa and enter the country if my return flight is 6 months away? Or do I need to go through the hassle of getting a flight in 3 months' time then rescheduling it in country?

I have done it, last year and this year. Arriving with tourist visa maximum three months, and return flight after six months. Nobody was checking when the return flight is going back.

Simmers is a loss, not so for the girls there but for the atmosphere and the early opening times. In Westlands next to Havanna there is similar open air structure now.

You just book your return flight and extend the visa after 3 months.

I totally agree with using a self-managed service like TransferWise or WorldRemit, cause that way you can keep yr MPesa & Safaricom account, and the SIM, alive while you're outside of Kenya. When in Kenya, you no longer hv2 go to a shop to add money (when you do, they always nag about recording yr ID or passport number).

Always get a Mpesa acct when you get a SIM.

(The reason why WorldRemit is most popular than other services is it makes easier to "offshore" possibly suspicious money, especially crypto-currencies. If you're 'that' kind of person, don't think you're safe -- WorldRemit is more & more on the radar of international govt agencies tracking money-laundering & black money, especially after they bought Sendwave for USD half-a-billion).

One nitpick: the camera is a nice-to-have, but not a necessity -- no business in Africa is going to lose out on taking your money just because you have a 1990's phone! They will find a paper menu for you, no problem, LOL. Analog is still King in Africa.

For those who need background, if you want a SIM in Kenya, register to get a Safaricom SIM using an official government photo ID. (Your current passport). If your passport expires, Safaricom may send you a notice to update your ID in person. It doesn't costs anything. I don't understand their need for the EXPIRED passport.

Life is much easier with a good phone / camera, a Kenya Safaricom SIM (Preferred over the Kenya AllTel SIM), a WorldRemit account and a mPESA account. Much of Kenya is cashless and mPESA is used by nearly everyone who has a phone. You can use mPESA for hotels, museums, taxi, EasyCoach, restaurants and etc. You won't need cash except to ride motos, matatus and simple cash only transactions. You will never need to use an ATM because you can exchange mPESA for cash at a mPESA shop.

You can familiarize yourself with the process by doing this: Before you leave your country set up WorldRemit account and send a small amount of money to a Kenyan mPESA account. Once in Kenya, you will use the same method to send money to yourself to fill YOUR OWN mPESA account. You could even pay your your hotel or AirBMB before arrival.

When Sagfaricom assigns you your phone number and activates your SIM, they can also set up your mPESA account. You then should use your WorldRemit to fill your mPESA account.

I mentioned camera because many business only use 3-D barcodes for menu, information, and etc. and you will need a camera to read the bar code.

I'm not answering any questions about MPs and Strip Clubs. If you think you need to resort to them in Africa, you're too much a loser for me to waste my time on!

Today I experienced another one of those absurd burocracies which happen only in Africa. I was texted by Safaricom to show up in a shop with my passport because they have to register my data. I went there with my new passport. The old one had expired recently. But there they wanted to see both passports, old and new. Otherwise I cannot keep my number Has anybody heard of a rule to carry expired passports?

Indeed Simmers was a place, good food though as well as plenty of willing women.

Massage parlours, pimps, online adds, all a waste of time in Africa.

Spot a woman any place, any time and it is more than 50% she is available. If you are paying 8 k then you can get what you want very easily. Clubs, malls, streets, shops, badoo, tinder is all that's needed.

Two very disappointing visits to report:

1 Pink Spa.

I was excited to visit this place and the comms by WhatsApp were good. BUT it was very hard to find and eventually ended up being a very dingy apartment. I chose a good looking girl but our room was right next to a living room in which all the other girls were chatting and listening to loud music. The was no bathroom en suite and the girl had body odour issues (I thought it was me at first and was worried but it wasn't). I got a cursory massage and then a really passive uninterested "whole thing was really poor. 2/10 5000 KES.

2 Pink Apples.

This place is in its own complex. All a bit odd. Loads of people milling about downstairs and listening to loud music, including some guys who were just sitting there. I was shown to a room and given a line up of about 15 girls. I picked one who seemed to speak good English. There was a shower en suite but the toilet was broken so I asked to move rooms. We moved to another but that one had no door between the shower and the bedroom. Again I got a cursory "massage" followed by full service but although slightly better than at the Pink Spa it was all still pretty poor. I was only with her for about 30 minutes and it cost KES8000 - really not good value. 3/10.

I hope to find a classier and better place and would not go back to either of these. Any ideas?
