Went to the New Madhouse at 2 am wed night / Thurs morning and the staff practically outnumbered the customers. It's a standard concrete shell with none of the charm of the original. It's on Banda St, one block and a stone's throw from the old site (which is a parking lot. What a waste) and has no sign up yet. There's a place called Noma Caffe (right next to it and a guard sat outside. Hope it gets busy.

Hi GS. I've seen your posts. Nairobi is not like the places you have been. I have stayed at Kenya Comfort, and it sucked as most downtown hotels. If you willing to pay Hilton money, then try Reata Suites. Kenya Comfort Hotel only has local tv, that means Kenya gospel videos or foreign soap opera all day. This might work if you plan on shagging one or two the same girls all day / night, or sport fucking one after the other. Sport fuck won't work cause they will never get to you on time even if they wanted to. Food is okay.

Pride Inn in Westlands is much cleaner and close to action and the mall. I suggest you do your due diligence and read previous posts a bit more, particularly mine. I went to Nairobi about 5 times between 2013/14 and twice for more than a month. Walking anywhere in the CBD at night is doable, but always with some situational awareness. Smart money is to mix it up a bit with not walking ALL THE TIME, and I never try to get from A to Z with my provider of choice who is usually in heels and a tight skirt. Just takes too long, spoils the mood and makes you an attractive target. Taxi will take you back to your room for 300/400, or let the girl negotiate.

Your are limiting yourself by just doing CBD bars. IMHO, Simmers providers are very much the low end of what's out there. Do it once and scratch off the list. More quality to be found at Black Diamond, Bacchus, etc. As far as security guards, often I see them when they are asleep. I often wonder how much that guard is willing to do for me if something goes down. I have walked from Florida 2000 all the way up Tom Mboya to Kenya Comfort on drunken Fri / Sat nights and thought to myself, that probably was not wise- and I'm Black. I love Nairobi poontang, but I also like walking with no worries like in Pattaya also.

You are right. This would be my first visit to Africa. My other destinations Kiev, Moscow, Istanbul, Hong Kong, KL, Bangkok and Dxb are very different.

I could and have tried African in my stop over at Dxb but I wanted to visit Africa for culture, history etc. Mongering is bonus.

Unfortunately I cannot hide the fact that I am a foreigner in Nairobi.

I never wear any Jewellery or watch. Just usual clothes.

From safety I means that most people should be able to walk from Koinange street to e. G. Hilton on most nights (up till mid night).

I understand an occasional incidence can happen anywhere including Central London.

4 or 5 start is not my issue.

I am looking for a hotel that is walking distance from the action, safe and would allow unrestricted access to my guests.

I would use the cheapest hotel that is fit for the purpose.

Try Kenya Comfort Inn corner of Muindi Mbingu / Monrovia Street, opposite Jeevanjee Gardens. Only few blocks from Simmers, Tribeka and several other clubs in CBD. Also its very near the university so many sweet gals all over the place. Never stayed there so I can't say if it's up to par or not but it's under $100. One thing I have noticed in Nairobi is that some hotel prices have almost doubled in the last couple years.

How are you measuring it? Is it safe compared to what? Your home town? Or other Africa destinations? Or European cities?

Relatively speaking its quite safe. I've done it time and again, late at night.

But like all areas you have to have your wits about you. You have to bea able to blow off touts without them getting aggressive, ignore druggy sw's you don't want, and you have to walk fast knowing where you're going.

Don't be drunk, loud and drawing attention to yourself, don't wear watches, jewellery or advertise yourself as a well off foreigner. Walk purposefully even if you're looking for sw's.

Koinage street, simmers and the other tourist areas are fine. I'm not so sure around sabina joy pub and darker areas of tom mboya street would be as welcoming.

But basically there are so many private security guys sitting out that you'll be OK in Koinage. Plus I've always found it quieter than its reputation suggests.

BTW Hilton's not 5 stars in anyones book. Have you thought this through?

That route has never been a problem for me late at night. But I'm a fast walker.

Walking in CBD in the area you mentioned isn't so bad at night. I have walked from this clubs many times at night back to my apartment on Koinange St. There are places walking at night isn't advise, I always try to stay on the main paths and not take the thru alleys. Cheap hotels in CBD are just that, cheap. My friends visit and they always stay Chester House which is a decent place but last I checked was around $180 a night. Kenya Comfort is cheaper I think but I have never been there. Also across from Simmers is a hotel I think is named 680 hotel but not sure the prices. Just my thoughts.

It was in July that I travelled to Nairobi on a business trip. Stayed at the Hilton.
