They changed it to residential areas. Some bars and customers in Mtwapa have been fined.

Posts: 542It was announced that drinking dens can open 5 pm to 11 pm weekdays and 2 pm to 11 pm weekends. Hotels no time limits.
I am not sure if this has been adhered to as I am a non drinker / bar-pub goer. These silly ideas usually last a few weeks then revert to normal.
We shall see.

As both the president and especially the vice-president are non drinking religious zealots there are many new anti-alcohol decisions made in Kenya, as they say they don't want to rule a nation of drunkards.
I heard that in Mtwapa bars are are only allowed to start selling alcohol after 5 pm.
In the daytime they are only allowed to sell food and soft drinks.
Heavy fines are given to those who break these new rules, even for customers. 15000 for the seller and 5000 for the customer.
