Africans and IT. The whole rubbish doesn't even work in Europe. They once said KISS. For that reason I love Guinea Bissau. They still type the residence permit by typewriter. Even if some countries have IT systems now. They're not working as they're supposed to work. The results range from hilarious to annoying. And now these online health declarations take the BS to a new level.

    Old but hilarious story.

Guy arrives at Monrovia on the height of the civil war. He virtually has all paperwork in order. Even a valid Visa! Customs and immigration highly annoyed because they can't sell him a Visa and make a few hundred bucks. They took away his passport until he paid up a couple of hundred dollars in order to enter Liberia.

That's the positive in Africa. It's called corruption.

You can buy any paper and any stamp. I was offered from captains licence or genuine IDs. You name it. The problem now are the EVisa. The Airlines don't let you board without one. You probably get still VoA in Entebbe. But. See above.

    Jitenge Traveler Surveillance QR Code

In my case, my name doesn't appear when I log into the system and I can't enter symptoms. The system is supposed to notify the phone number you used to create the form. If not, you still can access the system by entering the number you used. Mine just tells me my number is invalid. I wonder what that matters after 90 days and 180 days when I leave the country.

You forgot to mention. Illegal. But possible. And technically it's not an extension. An Immigration officer actually stamps you out and in again
technically you have left the country virtually and return virtually... Cost depends who you know between 20 and 30k KSH. I know people who live 12 years on illegal Visa extensions in Kenya. Do I recommend it? No. And do yourself a favor. Never mention people or places where you can obtain it in the forum...

I'm sure they did it because they want to eliminate corruption and cash disappearing at the immigration counters.
One issue with an eVisa is that my credit card is almost always rejected the first time. I must verify multiple times which is inconvenient from my home country but downright aggravating when I'm out of my country.

Another issue is I'm playing visa-go-round when my two 90 day visas are up, I must leave the country and start the process over from another country. I met some who do the South Africa-Namibia-Botswana circuit with no visa at all. I can go from Kenya to Tanzania for a VoA but not to Uganda unless I have a eVisa. Again, what difference does it make when Uganda Immigration pastes a white man's passport with a black woman' photo visa?

It's BS. Why. Because it doesn't work. I know scores of people having troubles. For example credit cards not working. Payment denied. The Ugandan website is sometimes not even working or very slow. A mate of mine gave up. Corruption. Not a reason either. In Tanzania you pay the Visa fee at the bank counter. So no immigration officer touches cash. There's plenty of old people who don't know how to operate a PC. It's a nightmare. They tried to introduce it couple of years back. And it didn't work back then either. These countries will lose tourist dollars every day by making it as inconvenient as possible. Do the EVisa and have fun. Make sure you have the proper passport picture resolution for example. No more than 256 kb. If you're denied Visa you lose 51 $ or you have to reschedule your flight. I am not interested in that BS.

Senegal learned from past mistakes by eliminating Visa anyway. Stamp in passport. Finish.

I was in Kenya with VOA, very easy and smoth no issue. The main issue was to get out of Kenya with PCR test. It was a nightmare.

I heard about guys that keep the PDF so they use the same test for multiple visits.

When I left Kenya on the plan the captain announce 40 min delay as some passengers PCR was delayed and they already checked inn. This is happen only in Kenya airways when entire plan waiting 40 min to late passengers.

And the searched for nylon bags in you stuff in the airport security hoping to find something and charge you with a big fine. I did my homework and totally eliminate all Nylons. Kenya airways sent me email about it before the flight so I was prepared.

I would say in and out was very fast and VOA was just 40 min or so. When filling the VOA you need to provide hotel reservation or just saying you stay with a friend and add his phone number. Since I payed everything went smooth they only want the money and approve my VOA in zero time.

Now should I go to Kenya again? Well what has changed?

    1. No curfew.

    2. no police try to arrest you for violation of COVID.

    3. Clubs open.

    4. dry season arrived.

    What not change.

    1. I have no idea how to find quite apartment in Mtwapa beside the Israelis apartment and even there loud music.

    2. ATM Issues-better to bring cash USD / Euros.

Overall, Jan to March is fantastic time for Kenya. Blue sky, clear sea water and girls everywhere.

And is it still 50 USD?
Mine came in two days after I applied. In addition, you must have you Covid PCR test 96 hours before arrival and registered in the QR health system before boarding.

I know how to apply for an extension online. Has anyone got an extension and had your passport stamped at another office location other than at NBO Airport?

I read that someone who stays in Kenya simply goes to the nearest immigration office and pays an officer for a 3-month stamp.
No. You have to do it via EFnS account. Unless an Immigration officer does it for you in the system. The good old times are over, where just somebody put a stamp in your passport. I know of cases they bought a (fake) stamp. If your extension online is not registered in EFnS you have a lot of problems.

These are the OFFICIAL websites. Don't fall for all the countless Visa BS Sites which takes another 50$ or more. Happened to friends of mine. Have fun. Particularly the Ugandan one is a lot fun...

    Busy?

As one of the few open destinations. (and an easy-going one) how busy is Nairobi / Kenya now?

I suppose Covid's still having an effect, but are there a decent amount of foreigners? Maybe even as many as before the pandemic because Kenya's one of the easiest places to go to?

Would prefer it quiet when I arrive. Less competition!

Airlines have to get you back and pay 5,000 $ fine iv you have been rejected at immigration for anything to do with docs and / or your qualification to enter the country.

Of course they will charge you the airticket at current rate. Nevertheless it doesn't bring many points to them. And in some cases they might fine their own check in agent.

This is why they are over careful about docs.
