My visa application was submitted Saturday morning at 3 am Nairobi time and approved by 7 am EST (New York City time zone). The web site says they process visas "in real time"

You were lucky, as it doesn't normally take that quick. The site was hacked few weeks ago; the executives must have (forced) the staff to work overtime to catch up the backlog.

How can they let you check in if no visa (when required) is not with you? Check in is a couple of hours before departure. Do you think those 2 hrs will make a change?

It is airline responsibility to admit on board people with appropriate travel documents. If they fail, they will have to take you back with the first flight and pay a 5 k $ fine.

Depends on your nationality whether you can get a VoA.

Any of you guys ever try any of the apportments that are postedn on AirBnB. In particular the ones in Westlands. Seems like a good deal, and girl friendly for sure, right?

I used Booking.com several times in Kenya and had mostly good experiences. Take those with many positive comments. Dont commit for long and in case you like it extend. Only don't leave valuables there for you can't never know who else has a key.

I applied for an eVisa, but did so rather late because my US passport did not arrive in time. If one does not have an eVisa at the time of checkin, will the airlines still permit you to travel to Nairobi? Is the immigration service there set up to let you get a visa on the spot?

This sounds like a great way of avoiding hardened pros. I have three questions for you Mombie:

1. what malls near the CBD would you recommend as easiest for the newbie like myself? / /.

2. Is this OK for Mzungus, or do you only recommend for Africans or African Americans? / /.

3. Do you just chat the girls and invite them to hang out, or do you actually offer them money while you are in the mall?

I have been using tagged and I have found it relatively easy to get girls to agree to see me for a small reward. But I do not know yet if they will really arrive at my hotel when I get to Nairobi. The mall option sounds like a good "plan B (or maybe even plan A)".

By the way, Mombasa is the easiest place to get fast hook ups if your new to Kenya.

Any of the malls. Westgate, the two on Ngong Road, Sarit centre or CBD itself. I just approach any girl I like and see any place, any time. I don't ask them right off the bat, take them for a drink and get the feel for if they are up for anything.

The online route, plenty will agree to meet but not all will turn up. Girls can be very busy hustling in Nairobi.

Also you will never know if any you meet are pros or not. Every single word they tell you will be lies.

So make a phone call or contact them by email, cheaper. Don't feel shy, they are used to answer this question.

Good advice, spent a few days here last month at the Boma on Red Cross Rd and was concerned it might be too conservative as it is essentially a subidiary of the Amer Red Cross. The manager said different check-ins nightly was not an issue as long as double occupancy was paid and that was good enough for me to come get my Kenya cherry popped. While there, I routinely paraded 3-4 girls daily with a different overnight each time. I'm going through girls for LTR prospects and am not F'ing all these girls; about half just some modest foreplay, a small stipend and out they go.

Current stay longer but this time at a little more upscale combined residential / hotel. I did not bother inquiring ahead but it has not crimped my habits. IDs are required so for a few I've had to walk outside to the gate and sign them in, but none have been refused. On just two occasions I commented it was for interview on a personal hire which is not exactly dishonest. Neither are "family oriented". I would be happy to tell them I will take my business elsewhere but of my grand total of two mid to upper range hotels, there have been zero issues.

As bad as things are economically here, neither of my first two picks for hotels this go were available for the period I was reserving for, maybe a divergent or parallel economy or something.

Climate is amazing in NBO this time of year and girls are amazing as well.

Kisumu is smaller and more relaxed than Nairobi. For dating girls it is nothing special. What you can always do is invite one for a boda trip to Dunga, eat fish together and be confident for more.

I've been interested in Kisumu as well.

I've not yet been, so what you'll read below is not first hand.

As there are not many wazungu in Kisimu it is actually more difficult to find girls.

There are not as many clubs as in Nairobi and Mombasa and a lot of the really nice WG have moved to Nairobi and Mombasa because they have more work there.

Best place to find girls stays Tinder, but you will have change you're location to it before going and you should not expect as many matches as in Nairobi and Mombasa. As it seems you don't have so much time, I'the say, be direct and move to Whatsapp fast to avoid possible being blocked on Tinder.

For going out, it seems like the place to go is.

Friday and Saturday "Alleyways".

Sundays "La Place".

These are regular clubs though, so you would have to smell out the working ones.

Leblon is right. I had not read his post before writing. Some hotels want an upgrade to double room if she stays over night. But the beach resorts I mentioned don't want those couples at all especially with changing girls.
