Nex day early evening I took a taxi to Simmers after dark. Two mistakes here - firstly that even though it was after dark in fact there were plenty of people around and was safe enough to walk. Secondly I was stupid enough to not suss out how close it was from my apartment - two minutes walk. The taxi driver drove around the block a few times to justify his 500 KES charge!!! My fault.

It is always highly recommendable to go by taxi after dark, even if it is just a two minutes walk! However, next time agree on the rate before you take the cab! For sure you will not make the same mistake twice! Anyway, think positive! Although you paid too much, but you had at least a safe trip!

I'd feel guilty ass hell too, when I'd see the poverty level in most areas compared with malayas being paid half a month minimum wage in one hour, remember, also unemployment in Kenya is 40%, means no income at all.

If it is out of compassion or generosity that makes you open your wallet, sure there are better goals you can support in this country.

No malaya choose to be a malaya, some have good education, can't find a job. Others drop out of school, selling your body makes a better income. It is from which perspective you look at "whatever you feel is appropriate".

Some malayas have a better income than a surgeon, so why finish school?

Money helps and damages this society. It is where you spend money which makes the difference.

Pay reasonable, most important, there is more to it than money only, treat malayas reasonable.

The atmosphere is getting spoiled by mzungus who pay too much, and mzungus who can't behave, girls are getting scared.

Spent a week in Nairobi recently and as I benefitede from others here it's only fair to share what I experienced.

Landed mid evening and stayed at Chester House - think it was $110 for an exec room. It was ok and fitted the bill on three counts as I had researched here - was clean, next to Madhouse, and no charge for the girls.

After a couple of sharpeners in the bar went straight over the road to Madhouse (it is an easy 20 second safe walk). Well this place was as advertised even on a Monday night. grabbed a beer and was approached immediately by a real nice girl - lots of contact and after 5 mins asked for a drink - but I was not about to be stuck with the first girl that came along so said no. This happened several times and eventually was drunk enough and was late enough to decide that Nancy was the one I wanted to come back with me. She would not talk about taxi fare so I offered 2500 KES which she rejected and it appeared that we would not agree so I walked away. Then two sisters approached me and were grouping kissing me from either side (these two became a constant with me one was called Helen and they were there every night - very tall). However they were not what I wanted (you get choosy in there) and I did in fact take Nancy back for the original price and she was great. Two rounds great attitide no hassle and still luked cute to me in the morning.

Decided to have a quietish night next so just went to Madhouse again and didn't drink much as the Ashes started that night and I was shagged out. At 2.45 i was sat on a girls lap, her tongue on my neck and in my ears, one hand in my shirt and pinching my nipples, the other down my trousers wanking me. By 3.00 I was in my room alone listening to TMS when Strauss went 3rd ball and I was full of regrets!! By the way this was Wednesday and it was bloody full and really hot.

Started off at Trattoria (an Italian in town) and is a good place to sit out on the balcony and watch the world go by. Then cocktails on a really posh hotel around the corner. A decent meal in a restaurant/bar at a shopping centre in Westlands, to Black Diamond which had some hot girls after 11 or 12 on a Friday. A couple of other clubs whose names i completely forget, then back to mine. She was the hottest girl I saw there and will keep in contact just in case I return. Next day went to Gypsys to watch rugby - there were some hot girls there but I had had my head turned by Black Diamond so went there - mistake. Should have stayed and taken someone from Gypsys. BD was crap so ended up back at Madhouse and took Nancy again - no regrets.

Last day spent with the Affro chick.

Overall I had mixed feelings about Nairobi - if I return I would do a couple of nights there and head to the beach as I found it a bit uninspiring in daylight. Next time I would check out the higher end clubs and use Madhouse as a last resort. Good fum, some great girls, Afro came up trumps and was not expensive.

Black Diamond definitely has the edge at the moment,I met some great girls there and ended up with some awesome memories. Invariably with Meru and Masai girls. Although I have also been with sexy girls from most of the other tribes but the first two seem to have the edge.The most jealous was a half Somali/Meru girl totally insane!!
