First, my post is not personal its come to illustrate how scammers "some" of kenyan could be.

When I have lived in mombasa I saw crazy things such as my fiend bought furniture to his hotel and has pay some of the money in advance in order to give the supplier a starter to make his furniture. The supplier never deliver the Merchandise.

Another case he bought copper wires for electricity. He got everything but no copper inside the plastic isolation.

I have many more examples all of them during my year stay in Mombasa when I saw how they make business.

Conclusion: pay nothing in advanced even via "trusted" website. If you book an hotel go directly to the property check everything and then pay only for the shortest time possible to test things. Then you may extend your stay.

Things are getting more complicated in Kenya especially when we need also to consider security.

We all do mistake that's life but again never trust anyone in Kenya especially hotel stuff that often Cooperating with Thieves.

Okay, normally I would unleash my wrath at your jab at me, but I neglected to give all the details to this transaction. It was through a travel website. A MIDDLE FUCKING MAN THAT HELD THE MONEY UNTIL ALL WAS SETTLED! I did not send money across to the planet to a complete fucking stranger. Happy?

A lying ass Kikuyu advertised his apartment as being in Westlands, which I booked, but upon arrival found it in Eastleigh. It took lots of calls and talking to get most of my money back from that scumbag. That kind of stuff can overwhelm a first timer.

Yes but its usually newbies that inquire and the reality of NBO is that your first few solo trips probably should be worked from the CBD. Its just so much easier. After a few trips you learn what clubs / bars you prefer, how to ride the bus / matatus, and how to score all types besides pros. Has anyone stayed here recently? I have used both (both are pretty crappy but cheap) and they were cheap. Just looking for recent feedback on these very central Locations.

By the way, the standard varies wildly; my last room was in Terminal facing the street and the room was excellent with a very interesting view at a couple of streetwalkers in the afternoon outside the shopping mall. Both dressed as non-pros; they actially looked like regular business ladies. Maybe I shall have a go in a couple of weeks.

I stayed there 2012 and 2013, the prize for the single being KSH 1800 at this time. When I walked by 2 months ago the receptionist said its 3000 now. The side of the Nakumat Lifestyle opposite the hotel (in fact its a 1 star GH in relatively central location) is still under construction so there is noise (which however was always a problem there) and the cafe with the terrasse is closed.

By the way Nairobi has much more to offer than the CBD and Westlands.

Did someone call me? Helloooooooooooooooooooo! My advice: Cops are not in the position to scam you unless you are doing dirty deeds to attract their attention anyway. True? For instance, A friend took a sexy young thing from Simmers that claimed she was 19, yet had no identification. Well, she is in a bar with a drink. All is good. The hotel (Chesterhouse) requires the lady show her documents upon entry. He bribed the guards a few hundred shillings each to poo poo the rules. They are meant to be broken-no?

While his penis was doing what is does best, he said he kept the vision of the surly guard that took his shillings in his head. The guards eyes said "It's not enough". Now, had these gentleman called certain buddies with real law enforcement powers, his ass and wallet could have been in real danger of probing. She could have been 100 yo. A quick convo in Swahili between her and cops could result in serious bribe money. Fortunately, the Gunz, I mean my friend, thought better of an all night party and sent her right back to Simmers after a quick shag. After all, the city is literally full of pussy. No need to risk the rest of the trip.

Global Surfer, your not thinking "Globally" . Realize that Kenya is in a tourism crisis. Only horny dogs are going there. Any cop shaking down a tourist now is a fucking idiot and not getting the memo from the top. Any problems should be challenged if you are not doing dirty deeds. If it were to happen, I would think it would not happen in Nairobi, but in Mombasa and other areas, away from big bosses in the big city. I don't go to Mombasa. People tow the line more in Nairobi.

I have spent a few weeks in Nairobi recently, and had the chance to check out some places for fun.

As SteveNaive recently reported, Dev Towers is a good option for massages with extras. I read on the forum about the three MPs in the building (La Celeb, Jephers and another one, which I think is now called Studio 37 Salon / barbershop), but when I went there on Saturday afternoons, Studio 37 was closed, I couldn't quite figure out the entrance to Jephers (seems to share the space with a tailor), and La Celeb was always open.

My first time at La Celeb, the "Receptionist" told me to wait in a room, and sent a girl in. I started asking about prices and she quoted 1500 Ksh (about $16 USD) for a massage and extras were available. I wasn't quite hot about her, so I started saying something about changing my mind and leaving, at which point she offered to send other girls in, which I gladly agreed to. So the girls came in one by one and said their name, and I settled on one named Keisha..

You might be able to get some action for 200 Bob ($2) from some street pickup, but most club and online hookups can be had for 1,000 to 3,000 Bob ($10 to $30 USD). Only suckers or those who fall victim to orchestrated female hustler / hotel staff or police scam pay UK or US prices (that happened to me once in Senegal). In Kenya, I have never dropped more than 2,500 Bob for a hookup though that does not include cost of a drink or short term lodge.

Thank you both for your comments, both points understood and appreciated. I am also a little of an upmarket guy. I am almost 50 worked hard all my life, time to enjoy. Does Thorn Tree also have pickup girls? I can see it is a nice Cafe and praised for food.

Look, yes I agree but the guy was looking for upscale place. The Stanley is upscale and very convenient, particularly with the Thorn Tree downstairs. Opposite the Stanley there is the Oakwood which I have tried many times and with lower rates. I have never paid a girl for service, I buy food, cell phone time and give a tip say about KSH 1000 or maybe KSH 1500. I usually look for more GF experience, the sex is automatic then. I usually go for the more upmarket hotels.
