The reason I asked is that there's some fragmented information online referring to a Sabina Joy in Mombasa. But, its Africa. Then there's Greetings from Mombasa on the Nairobi forum.

I was in the Sabina Joy on Moi Ave Central Business District (CBD) in April. It was so loud that no way you would've made a call from inside. Don't get down on yourself. If you must break out the phone, I was advised to stand with your back against the wall and always be ready for attack. Years ago, I had my Blackberry jacked in E. St Louis, MO. You will be prepared the next time.

When I walked in to Sabina Joy, there were a few customers mixed in that were just sitting at tables and at the bar drinking nothing at all. I noticed that they seemed to scan my clothes pockets. Being so loud I couldn't hear the receptionist and feeling my personal alarms, I pointed to my ears then turned around and walked out. I immediately crossed the street in case I was being followed then crossed again down the road.

What's the big deal. I was in Sabina Joy a month ago. SOP after night falls. 2000 KES distributed between both my pockets and my left sock. Plus my 20 $ Nokia African Edition NON smart phone including torch light. In bad areas I carry my 20 $ tactical aluminum torch with serrated Aluminum edges. Hurts a lot. The music was bearable. Sweet bongo and gengeton tunes. Later Congolese. Looks sure. I was the only Muzungu in there but then again. I have a black heart. Kweli kabisa.

This is common in CBD, phone snatches happen all the time. There is a good clip on you tube of a guy in CBD sitting in a taxi holding his hand out the window with his phone in it showing all the snatch attempts.

As a burned child and I guess many reports about security here, I still have to say.

Otherwise something could happen what happen to me.

I was standing outside Sabina joy and trying to organize an uber for me and my night nurse. Someone came running and slap my phone out of my hand. The second unfriendly guy take my phone from the ground and run away. No chance, except you are trained well in running. Though some advice's say don't follow such useless persons of mankind cause maybe they bring more troubles in his area for you.

My advice is.

Do not show your phone around, doesn't matter daytime or nighttime.

Have a backup phone with you.

Otherwise it will be difficult for you to reach your favorite ladies from badoo, tinder, afro or whatever.

Use an applocker for your apps and block everything what's important.

Take your logistics for transportation or whatever inside the club.

Go outside hands free and watch carefully your area.

Please do not tell me how stupid I was. I know it very well.

Ambro la Musica, on wednesdays in the Yacht Lounge and on saturdays in his own club, Bottoms Up in Shanzu.

Personally I find Amitie Musica the best Congolese band with the most balanced sound and the best singers. They are playing every weekend in the Summit Grill in Bombolulu, on Wednesdays in Bamburi and sometimes in the Maasai Beach Club in Nyali.

Ambro + band is at Mios (Bamburi town) on Thursdays. I think he plays somewhere almost every day.

I will check out Amitie Musica one Wednesday when I'm back in Kenya (Sky Lounge, Bamburi town).

Before covid there was this Band at club Africana (I've heard it's closed now) in Dubai who played Congolese music and during Ramadan they went to Nairobi and played there. But I didn't know where.

I did some investigations with the name you told, takes a bit time but I found out it could be possible that some live music is playing at.

FYI: Stayed in Kenya for 6 months. Got one extension.

Went to immigration in CBD a few days before my flight and they were surprised I hadn't got this endorsed. They wrote on a page of my passport that an extension had been given. I didn't see if this was actually checked at the airport.

A little off-putting because I don't remember reading during the online extension process that this was necessary!
