So I'm a long term lurker here and really appreciate the trip details on this site.

I'm going to be in Mtwapa and Bamburi from October 28. Nairobi in middle November. Its my first time to Africa but I love those African girls. I recommend going AirBnB or similar. You can get an entire apartment, much better quality that 90% of hotels here, for 2500 KSh or higher per night. With less drama / comedy than dealing w / hotels. Within a less-than 30-minute radius drive of CBD.

IThere is one golden rule if you retire to Kenya and want it to be peaceful and stress free, do not get involved with the locals.

Its a good start but as an 4 years expat in Mombasa I can tell you about the most important golden rule for Kenya retirements. The rule is that you don't retire in Kenya if you are less than 70 years old and not not broke.

If you come for a month then stay away from them change girl every meeting before they hit you with scam, lies and manipulation. I am in my mid 40's and I used to have a job where I could spend 6 months of the year in Kenya, albeit Mombasa not Nairobi. I know a lot of ex pats that have retired there. There is one golden rule if you retire to Kenya and want it to be peaceful and stress free, do not get involved with the locals.
