Just arrived in Nairobi, will put up a trip report in due course. But for now asking if viagra or similar is available in pharmacies over the counter or if I need a prescription from a doctor.

But, I had to go to two pharmacies to get a weeks supply.

Other prescription drugs, such as ambien or valium, require doctor's prescription. It is said that some pharmacists can prescribe, but I suspect it takes a lot of hunting to find one like that.

The flights are cheaper if you buy them at least two or three weeks before. Just Google for the according Airlines and book on their websites:

(1) Kenya Airways.

(2) Jambojet.

(3) Skyward Express.

(4) Safarilink.

Thanks for the advice. I will consider it, I would prefer to be near the sea. The reason I was considering Nairobi was the flight. Nairobi is 8-9 hours direct at 600-700. Mombasa seems to be 13-24 hours with one stop, and more expensive at 900-1200. I am going to thoroughly research flights and make a decision.

You could fly to Nairobi and take the train to Mombasa, that way you get cheap airfare, and a cheap train ride through the scenery.

In particular, I would recommend a newbie to spend all or at least most of the time on the Mombasa North Coast (Mtwapa or Bamburi Beach). In Nairobi, mongering is much more difficult and due to the lack of sea and the environment of a dirty big city, I don't really feel like I'm on vacation.

Mombasa is not as bad as I was describing it. Flight is 12 hours, cost £550-650 in September and October.

I will start from zero with my research in the Mombasa forum. Thank you my mate!

Get an internal flight from Nairobi to Mombasa. Kenya airways or Jambojet.

2 weeks in Nbi maybe tough going.

Everything is much easier in Mombasa, north coast areas of bamburi, nyali, shanzu and mtwapa.

I want to make this holiday memorable and these forums are a goldmine of information. I am reading this thread when I have some free time, saving anything noteworthy in my notes taking application. I plan on giving back by reporting on my findings.

I am predominantly interested in meeting "normal" girls through online apps or by approaching them directly. I would also like to visit some massage parlours and strip clubs.

According to what I have collected so far, there are two areas where all the fun (including the best massage parlours) are located:

1) Between CBD (which, I figured, means Central Business District) and Sarit Centre. So Westlands area.

2) Kilimani.

If I wanted to get an AirBnB in one of these areas, which area is better? Which is safer?

If you have experience with AirBnB, I will be grateful if anyone can PM me with safe / tested places to stay that are girl-friendly!

I use a cheap airbnb in town, it is clean and secure, around 3 k a night. I roam cbd or head out to shopping malls and just hit on anything I like, hows your luck? Easy to get to Westlands in a taxi 300 ks. Kilimani is a good area to stay as well.

I know nothing about massage parlours.

Normal girls? This is Kenya, you are never going to know what the girls does as everything they tell you will be lies.

These make a nice combination. First, Stanley seems very GF. One simply brought the girl to reception each night and she registered. There was no guest fee as I booked for 2 people and without breakfast (I am never up in time for breakfast anyway).
