With respect to previously positive report(s) re the Kenya Comfort Hotel and Dev Towers here's a slightly differing opinion:

A) Kenya Comfort Hotel. $65. 00usd for a double in that hotel is robbery without a gun. There are MUCH better options avail in Nairobi. This shit-hole (booked for me by a friend) drove me right back to the Central Park Hotel in short order. In my opinion the best hotel in town for the price.

B) Dev Towers (massage establishments. All floors). If you go there expecting such things as DFK and BBBJ's as previously reported here, don't be surprised if you find only "limited contact" and "covered" services avail. On the other hand (pardon the pun), if getting a massage and a hand job for 2-3k (or whatever they can get away with) by a 5/10 or 6/10 caliber girl is your thing, then go for it.

I liked Kenya Comfort. Good security. Al-Jazeera news 24/7 (the only tv station that worked, actually). Made out with the elevator girl (Esther?) every time I saw her in the elevator and would have met had my dance card been less full.

No doubt the DEV service is variable. When I had my two-girl session (5th floor, I believe) I got DFK from both but no BBBJ.

However, I suggest you think yourself into the mocassins of an unsophisticated retired expat pulling a pension of 2, 000 Euros or whatever; not much if you live in Europe but an almost princely sum if you move to Mwtapa or Ukunda; pretty hard not to feel like you are God's gift to a poor girl who has bills to pay and kids and parents and other extended family to look after and who is smart enough to blow sugar up a guy's ass and makes him feel like he is waking up under a Christmas tree every morning!

Loso writes that he feels like a rock star whenever he enters Madhouse. I am sure that's a sensation shared by many Mzungu expats or tourists in Kenya (and I've got to admit: that goes for me as well every now and then, even though I know the real score).

On the other hand, I can relate as well to what you describe as the attitude of many High Flyer African ladies. To me, it's just the other side of the same coin: now that they have THE POWER, a good number of them feel the need to make up in a hurry for so many of their Sistas having been on the receiving end for so long. Good Luck to them and Bless their Hearts for these possibly very sincere sentiments, but my experience has been (and I have been around for a while) that ultimately what determines how they react to you is not so much the color of your skin or your accent but whether you have substance or not.
