I plan to spend few days in Mombasa. I prefer apps like Badoo or Tagged instead of bars or clubs, but I see many girls say no hookups and want long term relations. What is best approach. Pretend to want LTR and hope for sex? Be clear that it's only for few days and fun as holiday girlfriend? Or just ask up front for hookups?

I heard rumors of this yesterday so I asked the workers when I arrived at Casaurina. They told me that they have a license to operate as a nightclub so the 11 pm rule won't affect them. I left around midnight, but one of my girls stayed until 4 am. She said the party was still going strong.

I can't speak for all of Kenya, but Mtwapa is open for business. I talked to my boda-driver friends this morning. They worked all night, said that Casaurina and Naiz were busy until the sun came up.

Let's hope it will stay like that.

President Uhuru Kenyatta in his Mashujaa Day address to the nation today lifted the 10 pm 4 am curfew, which has been in effect since March 27,2020.

He, however, remained silent on the operating hours of bars and nightclubs.

The Standard reached multiple Government sources for clarification on the operating hours of bars after the President's speech remained silent on the matter.

Spokesperson of the National Police Service Bruno Shioso told The Standard that the lifting of the dusk to dawn curfew essentially means bars and other entertainment joints of a similar kind can operate outside the earlier stipulated time restrictions.

The time limit placed on bar operating hours was because the dusk-to-dawn curfew was in place. Now that that restriction has been lifted, it essentially means bar operating hours revert to pre-curfew times 5 pm to 11 pm on weekdays and 2 pm to 11 pm on weekends, said Shioso.

The article says:

This means the 7 pm closure time that had been in place for bars, restaurants and night clubs has ended.

So which one is true now?

Of course extracting money from the people has become the core business for the police. For sure they don't want to give up this goldmine.

Casurina in Mtwapa today open until morning.

Can personally confirm this is correct. After visiting Club Legend and Zodiak Lounge last night, I arrived at Casaurina. It was packed with music blasting and ladies everywhere. People were still pouring in as I was leaving at 2 am. It felt like a Saturday (even though it was a Wednesday).

I asked the servers at all 3 places about their closing times. All said the same thing. They will remain open until 4 am-6 am the next day.

While it's true that masks are still required in the streets, this is a small inconvenience. Mtwapa has roared back to life.

After my first ever Kenyan night without a curfew, I can say without a doubt that Kenyans sure know how to party.

Thanks for the info. I have read back a bit. But obviously we gone from total lockdown to starting to open. I was thinking of staying at big tree in Mtwapa. But now considering Airbnb apartment as drf would want threesomes.

I'm guessing Mtwapa safe enough and more fun. But I do know a cpl young girls who stopping in nyali.

So may head there for a few days.

Was looking at flights. 16 hrs UK to Kenya. Dam. Thought Thailand was a long flight.

But I will keep reading reports here. Hoping to start seeing new recent reports to see if things still affected by covid restrictions.

Spaced69, Big Tree hotel is in Bamburi beach, not in Mwtapa. They are quite far from each other actually, Bamburi beach and Mwtapa. Now if curfew is finished I personally would maybe go to some Bamburi beach hotels again.

Somebody who have time could look that excellent map that somebody made and put it to Reports of Distinction. It is very confusing that Diani, Mombasa town, Nyali, Bamburi beach, Bamburi community and Mwtapa are all considered as "Mombasa", although there is some more than 50 kilometers or coast included between Diani and Mwtapa. I remember when I travelled first time travel agent told me that I should visit both North coast and South coast, I did not understand what she was talking about.
