Do you have a specific recommendation? As long as it is decent and safe. I will be fine with it. I will be going end of September.

By the way, a hotel room in TH that's fairly decent goes for 1,000 THB a night and the equivalent costs about 2-3 k THB in Mombasa. Just wow.

Very fair offer, thank you very much. I actually came to the same conclusion that the price-value proposition in Nairobi is significantly better than in Mombasa, which I have said in the post below, too. Prices in Mombasa appear to be somewhat inflated, at least for more decent looking places. I had a look around the Airbnb website and have yet to find something reasonable in terms of price and value. I am from Thailand so usually $25 gets me something fairly nice, and I realize I am spoiled in this regard. As for my preference, I would of course prefer something safe and reasonably priced, say $30-night in a decent looking apartment with good access to Mombasa and up north. If you have an Airbnb recommendation for a host that can accommodate me and my steady flow of WG, that would be great and highly appreciated!I should have added that I have no interested staying in an Airbnb where the host is living next door or where the security tries to bully me each night into making a 500 KSH donation.
I have never, ever had security try to hustle me for money. I did, however, give a few shillings once when the chic had no ID, but that was a hotel, which I stated can be a money pit full of problems. No, they value an easy job where they can sit on ass for no hard work just like anybody on this planet. True, Pattaya hotels prices are to die for, because of the proximity to each other, and shit-they get it! In Kenya you will find the opposite business sense. No tourists? Raise the price, let locals use the pool with their noisy kids, and give bad service. That's the ticket! This is the hidden price of phat bubble ghetto booty we all know and love, hehe!

Its very quiet, and lots of scenic greenery on the grounds. They have a small store on the premises where you can get wine, beer and small snacks. YaYa mall is in walking distance for groceries and booze because Woodmere has a small kitchenette. They have lots of channels for TV during the day or night off from mongering.

My buddy happened to come into Kenya at the same time as me and got two very nice two BR ABB spots in Kilimani, so I have to reevaluate my desire to always stay at Woodmere. I was actually very jealous of his choices. Woodmere can be cheap but small.

Back in the day most mongers stayed in town due to Simmers and Madhouse. Those are gone now, so I see no need to stay in CBD at all anymore. Noisy and full of A holes. The big mosque is buying all the bars around it and closing them to make a booze free buffer around it. I like Kilimani. Uber can take you anywhere in the city and into Westlands, so I see no need to stay in the area either.
Thank you very much for this informative reply. I do appreciate it when mongers with actual experience share valuable information. Airbnb seems the route to go, at least in Nairobi. But for Mombasa, I must say, prices seem a little bit out of whack. High price for low value, from what I have seen on the website though.

I have been lurking here for a while and have a question about accommodation in Kenya.

I live in Thailand but really need to go on a safari to hunt some black gazelles, I can't get that shit out of my head. Hence, I am planning a trip to Nairobi and Mombasa. For the experienced mongers here, do you have specific hotel (or ABB) recommendations for Nairobi and Mombasa (not too far from the Casablanca club)?

Do you actually recommend to go with ABB over hotels, cheaper, no joiner fees etc. ?

    Highly appreciated!

Prep- pre-exposure prophylaxis. Taking meds before risking yourself to exposure.

I visit Kenya a lot so don't take any prep as I think several months on meds is not good for me.

I use condoms, they work. I cover up in the early when the sun is not shining to try to lessen my chances of mosquito bites, use a spray / cream and sleep under a net, they all work.

    Prep = Truvada.

Truvada or the generic should be available in your country after a medical examination and consultation.

Doxy can be taken as a malaria prophylaxis and is of course also very effective for STDs like gonorrhea or chlamydia.

Bare backed them all, not one girl ask about protection!

But make sure you start taking Prep and doxycycline a week before you travel.

Stayed in a condo building with a pool, 10 minute walk from beach road / walking street (saved the expense and danger of a scooter; apparently police sometimes stop and fine foreign drivers for lacking the correct permit) for under $20 per night including elec, water, unlimited fast Wi-Fi and weekly cleaning and linen change.

Yes I heard really good things about Pattaya regarding women and I like what I seen on YouTube from Walking street.

This is the Mombasa thread so I will not continue talking about Pattaya here. Thanks for all the input and Kenya is not of my list but have to wait a little bit.

As for women, the dating sites are chock-full. I tried and sometimes succeeded to get a few freebies, sometimes had to pay. One of the freebies was a late 30's MILF (maybe too young for you, LOL). But I often went for a walk along beach road at night and saw tons of oldies that presumably nobody wanted due to age, so you'll have your pick at a decent price.

If you don't have a preference between Asian or black women, I'd go for pattaya if I were you.

Oh! Well you finally let that cat out of the bag, LOL. I used to think the Kenya experience is quite different for Black vs White guy, but after reading some of the posts I think its more of a subtle difference. Some women just don't want to be thought of as a WG when walking with a White guy, and others don't care. Kenya is a conservative country, but more open-minded than most on the continent. I once wore earrings and the looks I got in town were like I'm on the stroll. One guy even asked if I could help him find a hotel! Had to take those off fast. Mind you my point of ref is Nairobi, and I'm really out of my element in Mombasa. Nai is just more fun and the women look better to me.

Being young and black is a bonus because of all the hip-hop videos circulating the planet. I can still pull off forty-something, and still have a blast in Kenya and Thailand, but if you don't know much about either place then you have a lot to learn concerning both no matter what your race. Kenya and Thai women are equally fun and love to fuck. Has anyone not told you Asian women have their preference? It's either White, Black or Korean. If the Thai chic prefers Black, and knows she will have fun with you, your in that pussy, other wise your just food money for that quick fuck. You have to vibe with these chics bro! Same likes and lifestyle equals good fucking time!

Your peeps tell you to go to Pattaya because everything is right there: food, gym, bar, club, pussy. You have a small area to work with to meet all your needs, so it works well for a newb, and a solo, and a (hint) solo newb. However, a first time in Kenya, might be overwhelming. The culture and environment can be overpowering, it was for me in 2005. You might need a wingman. A simple walk in town is quite an experience because of all the bodies around you. Reading about it, and doing it are two different things. You have to travel to get to the fun.

Man, I still don't get your age fetish either but to each his own. Thirty is considered old in the rest of the world, but my 82 yo mom can flight attend AA. It's harder to help you with this because I personally don't seek this out, but if you go to Nairobi hit me up on the back channel. I may have something.
